When I was climbing the final step I saw dad sleeping outside the room. I moved closer to him and called his name scared he would scold me for waking him. But he didn't wake up. I noticed my dress on a sofa next to where daddy was sleeping.

I picked it up thinking mummy kept it and wanted me to get dressed so we could leave for grandma's house. I went towards the room and saw that the door was locked. I knocked it several times but mummy didn't open. I thought she was taking a bath so I went to the other room to take a shower.

The door was still closed when I came back after the shower. Now I was beginning to worry about mummy. I peeped inside the open window. I was horrified at what I saw.!!

Mummy was sleeping on the carpet. She had some marks on her neck. All of mine and sister's toys were scattered. Mummy's eyes were swollen and half closed. Her dress had blood stains.

I started to cry but softly so I don't wake up daddy. I ran downstairs to wake grandpa. I told him what I saw and grandma sent me outside to play.

I didn't want to go out. I wanted to talk to mummy. I wanted to take her away from daddy. I knew he hurt her. I went back inside the house to go upstairs and that's when I noticed footprints-in blood! I knew they were mummy's because of the size.

I was too shocked to move and grandma came and shouted at me to go out.

I came out and was sitting in the garden alone and crying.

Very frequently I heard someone shout and argue. But I was too scared by now to go back into that house.

I stayed in the garden for a very very long time. It was almost afternoon. I wondered where my brother and sister were. I prayed to God that mummy should be fine. I promised myself that I will tell grandparents everything and take mummy very far away from here and never come back.

Nobody had come out of the house yet. But by now many of my relatives were entering the house.

It was evening and finally my sister and brother came. I rushed towards them the minute I saw them. Nobody knew why I was crying. I lifted my brother and went back to the garden and my sister followed us.

After some time I saw my maternal grandparents car. When my granny stepped out, I noticed she was crying too. My aunt had come along(mummy's sister) she was also crying. I wondered if they knew what happened to mummy.

Granny saw me and rushed towards us. My aunt wrapped me in her arms and asked where daddy was.

By then grandpa(dad's dad) came out of the house and said he didn't know what happened and when he woke up daddy was gone. I knew he was not telling the truth but I decided not to as well. I just wanted to see my mummy before anything.

Granny and aunt screamed at everyone and demanded to see mummy. Grandpa took them inside leaving me outside again.

When they came out they were crying harder. All I remember next was that we were made to sit in the car and then we left that place right away.
