Disclaimer: There will be a lot of violence in this chapter. If you are sensitive you may skip this chapter.

It's currently 10:15 am and Clementine is happily making three bowls of porridge. While Marshal Ney is peacefully sleeping. Suddenly a couple of minutes later Wellington calmly enters the kitchen. Then he calmly walks over to Marshal Ney. Marshal Ney slowly opens his eyes and stares at Wellington out of slight annoyance. Then he starts speaking in an annoyed tone.

Marshal Ney: Please just go away you branleur (wanker).
Wellington: I'm not a wanker.
Marshal Ney: Since when did you understand French?
Wellington: I have understood it for a while Marshal.
Marshal Ney: Please go away.

Wellington: Why are you so annoyed? I have done nothing wrong.
Marshal Ney: You woke me up. That's what you did wrong. Now go away and go do something else instead of lingering around in front of me. I don't need you watching me sleep.
Wellington: I wasn't watching you sleep.
Marshal Ney: Just go away I want to rest! You are being extremely obnoxious!

Clementine awkwardly looks over and starts speaking in a calm voice.

Clementine: Boys please calm down.
Marshal Ney: I'm not a child!
Clementine: Yes but you are definitely acting like one. Now come and have breakfast.
Marshal Ney: No I would prefer to eat alone thank you.
Clementine: I want you two to get along.

Marshal Ney: Thats not going to happen.
Clementine: Just come and have breakfast at the table you two.
Marshal Ney: No I'm not hungry.
Clementine: I can tell that you are lying and just trying to get out of being around Arthur.
Marshal Ney: Fine. But don't expect me to be happy about it.

Wellington calmly walks over to the table and sits down. Marshal Ney gets up and walks over to the table and sits down opposite Wellington. He also folds his arms and glares at Wellington. Wellington starts speaking in a calm yet slightly awkward voice.

Wellington: I'm sorry for disturbing you when you were sleeping.
Marshal Ney: Why are you being so polite? I thought we were enemies.
Wellington: We were. But we are stuck in the same situation of not knowing why we are in this world.
Marshal Ney: You are still my enemy. You caused my death.
Wellington: I didn't cause your death. Why are you blaming me?

Marshal Ney: You caused the French Empire to end. Then I was killed after that.
Wellington: Do you remember what happened?
Marshal Ney: No. I don't. I just want to know what happened to me.

Wellington notices that Marshal Ney is starting to cry. Clementine also notices this and she calmly walks over and gently puts her hand on his shoulder. Clementine starts speaking in a calm and comforting voice.

Clementine: It's alright. We will find out what happened to you.
Marshal Ney: I just want a moment alone.
Clementine: I understand that. You can go have a moment alone if you need to.
Marshal Ney: Thank you for understanding.
Wellington: Did I do something wrong?

Marshal Ney gets up out of his seat and violently slams his hands onto the table. Then he starts speaking in a slightly enraged voice.

Marshal Ney: Please stop asking questions right now you are irritating me! Just leave me alone I want peace! I can't have that when you are asking a million questions! Just shut your mouth!
Wellington: Jesus Christ no need for such rage Marshal.
Marshal Ney: Just don't follow me or you actually might need Christ to help you.

Marshal Ney angrily marches over to the door. Suddenly he stops and transforms into his human form. Then he continues angrily marching until he reaches the apple tree which he sits under and stares at the vast countryside.

*Marshal Ney in thought*
Annoying bastard. I now have to deal with him. I can't even return to my homeland to get away from him!

Those damned German bastards took over France and tried to kill me! I just want to return home. But I can't.

I also want to know what happened to me. How did I die? Why am I alive again? Am I not allowed to just rest peacefully anymore?

I can't believe they took my homeland! I wish I could just slaughter them all. Those bastards. I despise them.

Marshal Ney clenches his fists out of pure rage. He stares at his fists and begins to remember what happened a few days ago before he left France. Everything around him begins to fade away and he is now standing carefully on the top of the Effiel Tower. He looks up at the blood moon and feels an extreme amount of power surging through him. Then he looks down and notices many lights moving through the streets. He then spreads his wings and calmly leaps off the Effiel Tower and begins to gracefully fly down to the ground.

Upon landing on the ground a German soldier turns around and stares at Marshal Ney. The soldier notices Marshal Neys wings and glowing crimson eyes. The soldier starts speaking in a nervous and slightly terrified voice.

???: Who are you, sir?
Marshal Ney: I am Marshal Michel Ney of France. And why are you here? You sound German.
???: Yes we rule this city now sir.
Marshal Ney: Who is this we?
???: The Germans rule this city. I am here to guard the city, sir.
Marshal Ney: This city does not belong to you, sir. This city belongs to the French people.

Marshal Ney clenches his fists and begins approaching the German soldier. Who prepares to grab his pistol. Suddenly Marshal Ney violently grabs the soldier's neck and glares into the man's fearful green eyes. Then he calmly whispers into the man's ear.

Marshal Ney: Vive la France et bonne nuit monsieur. (Long live France and good night, sir.)

Marshal Ney then violently snaps the man's neck causing the soldier to drop to the ground. Suddenly he hears footsteps behind him and immediately turns around and notices four soldiers nervously staring at him. Marshal Ney smirks and starts speaking in a confident voice.

Marshal Ney: Well come on then you cowardly bastards!

The four men charge at Marshal Ney. Suddenly one of the men grabs a pocket knife and violently slices Marshal Ney across the left cheek. Marshal Ney ignores the pain and firmly grabs the man's arm and pulls the man towards himself. Then he violently bites the man and kills him. Marshal Ney picks up the knife and runs over to the second man and slits his throat. Then he violently stabs the third man in the heart. He then bites the fourth man and starts quickly drinking his blood. A few minutes later Marshal Ney stops drinking the man's blood and violently stabs him in the neck.

Yanking the knife out of the final man's neck Marshal Ney looks around at the dead soldiers around him. He takes a deep and calming breath and throws the knife onto the ground. Then he puts his hand on his left cheek and notices that the cut is no longer there. Suddenly he hears a familiar voice and everything around him changes back into the vast grassy and peaceful countryside. He then notices Clementine sitting beside him and staring at him. Clementine stares speaking in a calm and comforting voice.

Clementine: Are you alright?
Marshal Ney: I could be better.
Clementine: What's wrong?
Marshal Ney: I just want to know how I died. That's all I want to know.
Clementine: I understand.
Marshal Ney: I don't want to be suffering anymore.

Clementine: How are you suffering exactly?
Marshal Ney: I'm just suffering mentally. Because I don't know what happened to me.
Clementine: We will find out what happened to you and you might be at peace.
Marshal Ney: How would I be at peace with what happened to me?
Clementine: Well, it will answer your question about what happened to you. You also might get along a bit better with Arthur.

Marshal Ney quietly sighs to himself out of slight irritation. Then he starts speaking in a calm yet slightly irritated voice.

Marshal Ney: Why do you want me to get along with him?
Clementine: You two are in the same situation. You both don't know why you are alive again or why you have the powers that you have.
Marshal Ney: Speaking of powers why isn't Wellington out here?
Clementine: He can't really control his powers yet. Also, why do you call him by his title?
Marshal Ney: We aren't friends. Also, it's mainly out of respect. Even if we were friends I wouldn't be calling him by his name. That's more of a family thing.

Clementine: I'm just use to calling people by their names.
Marshal Ney: What happened to this world? It seems that the respectfulness has disappeared.
Clementine: You broke my door that's not very respectful.
Marshal Ney: I'm use to breaking down doors.
Clementine: I want you to get along with Arthur. Or you could help me fix the door.
Marshal Ney: I don't like either of those options.

Clementine quietly sighs to herself out of annoyance then she starts speaking in a calm voice.

Clementine: I want you two to just get along. Also, it would be good if you teach Arthur how to control his powers. Maybe you two could bond over that.
Marshal Ney: Why are you doing this to me?
Clementine: I want you two to be friends.
Marshal Ney: Again that's not going to happen.

Marshal Ney gets up and begins promptly walking back towards the house. A couple of minutes later he enters the house and walks over to the couch then sits down. Wellington who is sitting at the table reading the newspaper notices Marshal Ney sitting on the couch. Wellington puts the newspaper down and gets up out of his seat. Then he calmly walks over to the couch and sits down beside Marshal Ney. Who awkwardly moves away from Wellington to the other side of the couch. Wellington starts speaking in a calm voice.

Wellington: Are you still angry at me Marshal?
Marshal Ney: Isn't it obvious that I'm still annoyed?
Wellington: I want to apologise Marshal.
Marshal Ney: I accept your apology.

Wellington moves over beside Marshal Ney and gently places his hand on Marshal Neys shoulder. Marshal Ney awkwardly and reluctantly accepts this gesture. Marshal Ney starts speaking in an awkward yet calm voice.

Marshal Ney: I wasn't expecting you to be so kind to me. Because well we were enemies. I never got to experience much kindness in my life.
Wellington: Im sorry that happened to you. I also apologise for last night.
Marshal Ney: I accept your apology. Besides I've had worse.
Wellington: You seem to be acting a bit calmer.
Marshal Ney: It's not really calmness it's more like awkwardness.

Wellington: What's making you feel awkward?
Marshal Ney: You are. But maybe it's because Im not use to your kindness and sometimes your obnoxiousness.
Wellington: Am I really obnoxious?
Marshal Ney: Sometimes.
Wellington: Do you want to do something together?

Marshal Ney awkwardly and silently stares at Wellington. Then he awkwardly looks at the floor. Wellington starts speaking in a calm and slightly cheerful voice.

Wellington: Come on.
Marshal Ney: Fine. What do you want to do exactly?
Wellington: How about a game?
Marshal Ney: What kind of game?
Wellington: How about chess?
Marshal Ney: Alright then. We shall play some chess.

Clementine calmly enters the house and she notices both of them sitting on the couch. She then starts speaking in a cheerful voice.

Clementine: Are you two getting along?
Wellington: Yes, I guess we are.
Marshal Ney: Can we not make this even more awkward than it already is?
Wellington: Clementine?
Clementine: Yes Arthur?
Wellington: Can you please find the chess for us? We want to play some chess.
Clementine: Alright, I will do that.

Clementine calmly walks off to her room. Wellington calmly gets up and walks over to the table. Marshal Ney gets up and awkwardly walks over to the table and stares at Wellington. Wellington starts speaking in a calm and slightly cheerful voice.

Wellington: What's wrong Marshal?
Marshal Ney: Nothing is wrong.
Wellington: Are you sure?
Marshal Ney: Your kindness towards me is just making me feel awkward. I don't know why. But it is.
Wellington: I understand. But as you said you didn't get to experience much kindness in your life. I want you to enjoy my kindness.
Marshal Ney: It just feels awkward as we were enemies once.

Wellington: It's alright. You will get use to it.
Marshal Ney: I'm not sure how I will get use to it.
Wellington: You will figure it out. You are a smart man Marshal.

Marshal Ney awkwardly smiles a little bit. Wellington notices this and starts speaking in a cheerful voice.

Wellington: I'm glad that you are happy Marshal. You don't need to hide your joy.
Marshal Ney: Im not trying to hide it. It's that my emotions are all over the place. I don't know how to feel right now.
Wellington: Relax Marshal take a deep breath.

Marshal Ney takes a deep and calming breath and then sits down at the table. Wellington calmly sits down opposite Marshal Ney. Marshal Ney gently takes a golden ring off his finger and stares at it. Wellington notices this and starts speaking in a calm voice.

Wellington: You loved someone?
Marshal Ney: Yes, I did. We all find love eventually. She lost me.
Wellington: You miss her don't you?
Marshal Ney: Yes, I miss her dearly. I now just have a ring to remember her.
Wellington: I also don't have much to remember my wife by.

A few minutes later Clementine walks over with a small wooden box and gently places it on the table. She then opens it up and grabs the chessboard and places it on the table. She then starts speaking in a calm voice.

Clementine: I will allow you two to set up the game. While I go and try and repair the door.
Marshal Ney: Sorry about that.
Clementine: Have fun you two and please don't try and kill each other over the game. Also, don't break anything either, please.
Wellington: Im sure that nothing will get broken right Marshal?
Marshal Ney: Yes nothing will get broken.

Clementine calmly walks off to go start repairing the door. While Wellington and Marshal Ney start setting up the game. Marshal Ney starts speaking in a calm yet slightly serious voice.

Marshal Ney: You know that I won't go easy on you.
Wellington: And I don't expect you to.

A few minutes later they finish setting up the game. Wellington starts speaking in a calm voice.

Wellington: Let's start shall we?
Marshal Ney: Yes let's start.

A couple of hours later there are only three chess pieces left on the board. Marshal Ney awkwardly stares at Wellington. Wellington starts speaking in a calm voice.

Wellington: Je pense que nous sommes arrivés à une impasse. (I think we have come to a stalemate.)
Marshal Ney: Oh mon Dieu. Comment est-ce arrivé? (Oh my God. How did this happen?)
Wellington: Je ne suis pas sûr mon ami. (I'm not sure my friend.)
Marshal Ney: Ne m'appelle pas comme ça s'il te plait. (Don't call me that, please.)
Wellington: T'appelle quoi? (Call you what?)

Marshal Ney: Ami. (Friend.)
Wellington: Mais ne sommes-nous pas amis? (But are we not friends?)
Marshal Ney: Je dirais que nous sommes toujours des connaissances mon Seigneur. (I would say that we are still acquaintances my Lord.)
Wellington: Vous n'avez pas besoin d'utiliser mon titre de Maréchal. (You don't need to use my title, Marshal.)
Marshal Ney: J'essaie d'être respectueux mon Seigneur. (I'm trying to be respectful my Lord.)

Clementine who has almost finished fixing the door overhears the conversation and awkwardly stares at them. She then starts speaking in a calm yet slightly confused voice.

Clementine: What are you two talking about? I don't really understand what you are saying.
Marshal Ney: He thinks we are friends. I would say that we are acquaintances.
Wellington: At least we aren't enemies right Marshal?

Marshal Ney rolls his eyes and sighs out of slight irritation. Then he starts speaking in a calm yet slightly irritated tone.

Marshal Ney: Yes but we aren't friends. Not yet at least.
Wellington: Exactly not yet. But we will be, right?
Marshal Ney: Depends.
Wellington: Depends on what?
Marshal Ney: A lot of things. I think we should put this away now.
Wellington: Your right we should clean this up.

Wellington and Marshal Ney start putting the game away. A few minutes later they have finished tidying up the game. Clementine suddenly walks over and smiles at them both. Then she starts speaking in a calm yet slightly cheerful voice.

Clementine: It seems that you two bonded over that.
Wellington: Yes, I agree.
Marshal Ney: It seems that we did.
Clementine: I'm glad you are starting to get along.
Marshal Ney: So far we are getting along.
Wellington: Yes we are.

Clementine grabs the small wooden box and goes to put it away in her room. Wellington cheerfully smiles and starts speaking in a cheerful voice.

Wellington: I want us to get along Marshal. It would be better for both of us. Instead of just fighting.
Marshal Ney: Yes, I understand that. But a friendship takes time you can't rush it.
Wellington: I know and I apologise for trying to rush it.
Marshal Ney: I accept your apology.
Wellington: Thank you.

A few hours later Marshal Ney is awkwardly sitting at the table just completely zoned out. Clementine who is preparing to make dinner notices this and walks over to him. She then starts speaking in a calm voice.

Clementine: Are you alright?
Marshal Ney: I'm trying to remember something.
Clementine: What are you trying to remember exactly?
Marshal Ney: The surroundings of the location where I died. I know that it was in my homeland. But I don't know where.
Clementine: I'm assuming that you know what has happened to France?
Marshal Ney: Yes, I know what has happened. But I don't want to focus on that right now.

Clementine: I understand that.
Marshal Ney: Could you please get me some paper and something to sketch with?
Clementine: Alright, I will go do that.
Marshal Ney: Thank you.

Clementine calmly walks off to her room and a couple of minutes later she returns with some paper and a pencil. She then gently places it down on the table in front of Marshal Ney. Marshal Ney smiles a little bit at Clementine then he starts speaking in a calm voice.

Marshal Ney: Thank you this will be helpful.
Clementine: Your welcome.

Clementine goes back to preparing to make dinner. While Marshal Ney starts sketching something. A few minutes later Wellington exits his room and calmly walks over to Marshal Ney. He then curiously stares at Marshal Ney's sketch. Then he starts speaking in a calm and curious voice.

Wellington: What are you doing Marshal?
Marshal Ney: Sketching.
Wellington: What are you sketching?
Marshal Ney: The location of my death. I only remember the surroundings of the area where I died and how I died. But I don't know who or possibly even what killed me.
Wellington: I find it odd that you don't remember what killed you, Marshal.
Marshal Ney: Well do you remember what killed you?

Wellington: Natural causes.
Marshal Ney: At least you had a peaceful death. Unlike me, I was murdered by someone or possibly multiple people.
Wellington: Well, I'm sure that we will figure out how you died.
Marshal Ney: Hopefully. Now, please leave me to do this. I don't want distractions.
Wellington: Alright.

Wellington calmly walks off and goes to sit down on the couch. An hour later Marshal Ney has finished his sketch and calmly sighs and stares at it. Clementine notices this and calmly walks over to him and curiously stares at his sketch. Then she starts speaking in a calm yet curious tone.

Clementine: This looks good. But it only looks like a street with a couple of random buildings.
Marshal Ney: One of the buildings is an observatory. That's what made the location stick out to me. Although I don't know how many observatories would be in France now. I also don't know how much the location could have changed throughout the years after my death.
Clementine: Anything else that you remember?
Marshal Ney: Flowers.
Clementine: Flowers?

Marshal Ney: Yes, I remember seeing flowers before I was killed.
Clementine: Did you die near a garden perhaps?
Marshal Ney: Perhaps. I also remember it being a public area. As people tried to stop me from being killed.
Clementine: A public garden then.
Marshal Ney: There are many public gardens in France. This could take a while to solve.
Clementine: True.

Marshal Ney quietly sighs to himself out of slight frustration. Clementine then gently puts her hand on his shoulder. Then she starts speaking in a calm voice.

Clementine: We will figure this out. Don't worry.
Marshal Ney: I'm not worried about it. I'm just frustrated that this will be more difficult than I thought.
Clementine: We will solve this. But for now, it's time to have dinner.
Marshal Ney: Alright.

Clementine puts three plates of salad on the table. Marshal Ney awkwardly stares at the plate of food. Clementine then sits down and notices him awkwardly staring at the salad. She then starts speaking in a calm voice.

Clementine: What's wrong?
Marshal Ney: Nothing is wrong. I don't mind salads.

Wellington calmly walks over and sits down and stares at Marshal Ney. Then he starts speaking in a calm voice.

Wellington: Do you not want the salad?
Marshal Ney: It's fine. I will eat it.
Wellington: Alright.

They all begin to eat their salad. A few minutes later Marshal Ney finishes his salad. Then he grabs his sketch and gets up from his seat. He calmly walks over to the couch and sits down and begins to stare at his sketch. A couple of minutes later Clementine gets up and calmly walks over to Marshal Ney. Marshal Ney then starts speaking in a calm voice.

Marshal Ney: Do you have any books about France?
Clementine: Yes, I have.
Marshal Ney: Can you please bring me a book about Paris?
Clementine: Alright.

Clementine calmly walks off to grab a book. A couple of minutes later she comes back with a large book and hands it to Marshal Ney. Who then starts speaking in a calm and slightly cheerful voice.

Marshal Ney: It seems that this will take a while to read. But I don't mind reading. It was a normal thing that I did in the past.
Clementine: I hope that you find what you are looking for.
Marshal Ney: Thank you.

Marshal Ney opens the book and begins to carefully and calmly read it. A few hours later the sun started to set and Wellington calmly walks over to Marshal Ney who is still reading the book. Then he starts speaking in a calm voice.

Wellington: Dont you need to feed Marshal?
Marshal Ney: No I don't. You don't want to know what I did before I got here.
Wellington: What do you mean by that?
Marshal Ney: I did a lot of things to the people who took my homeland. If you need to feed just go feed.
Wellington: I see. Well, I will see you tomorrow then.
Marshal Ney: Yes.

Wellington calmly walks off and gently opens the door and exits the house gently closing the door behind him. A couple of minutes later Clementine walks over to Marshal Ney. Who stops reading and looks up at Clementine. Clementine then starts speaking in a calm voice.

Clementine: It's getting late. Don't you want to sleep?
Marshal Ney: I'm not tired. I'm fine.
Clementine: Dont work too hard to figure out what happened to you. I want you to still take care of yourself.
Marshal Ney: I understand that.
Clementine: I will allow you to continue with your work. As well I need to rest. But I don't want you to forget to rest either.
Marshal Ney: I won't. Also good night.
Clementine: Good night.

Clementine calmly walks off to her room and Marshal Ney starts reading the book again. An hour later he suddenly stops at a picture that he recognises. He whispers to himself out of shock

Marshal Ney: Jardin du Luxembourg. (Luxembourg Garden.) A very familiar name. Also, a very old garden that also has an observatory and plenty of flowers.

Suddenly he hears the sound of multiple muskets being fired. This causes him to drop the book onto the ground out of fear and panic. He then looks around and notices that the room is still empty and quiet. Then he takes a deep and calming breath and gently grabs the book and puts the sketch inside it then closes it. Carefully putting the book down on the nearby table Marshal Ney then lies down and stares at the ceiling. He then grabs the soft grey blanket and covers himself with it. Then he slowly closes his eyes and goes to sleep.
