Lani was in the studio with mars planning out the release date "Next week we should start promoting the album and drop the cover" mars said while typing on his phone "then we gonna release the album date"

lani nodded her head "did you see the photo?" she asked him, she thought the picture for the cover was beautiful and she loved it "I like it, I think everyone will too, you look beautiful" he complimented her

she gave him a smile and said "thank you" she looked at the paper with her track list on it, she had 10 songs on there that made the cut "so 'The Letter' will drop tonight with the picture you picked" He said while looking up at her, she didnt know how her family was gonna take it but she felt this song was the perfect way to show her identity and show more of her vulnerability

"how's your sisters gonna take it?" he asked her, she really didnt know how they would take it but she knew it wasn't gonna be good "honestly I don't care" she shrugged her shoulders. her sisters stopped talking to her a long time ago

her sisters thought she was wrong for cutting her mother off completely but she felt like her mother always showed her that she wasn't ever gonna change. lanis mother always told her kids she would stop the drugs but never actually did and lani had been burned by her many of times so she wasn't gonna let it happen again and the best choice was to cut her off completely

lani was snapped out of her thoughts by her phone, she saw her brothers name come across her screen "ill be back" she got up and walked out the studio room to the hallway "hey" she smiled as she answered the phone

"I heard the song" he sounded serious and angry "what the fuck lani!" she looked confused at her phone "why are you are gonna drop something like that> you know how Nae and FLO feel a-" she hung the phone up, she didnt want to hear his opinion on how those two would feel

she could careless about their feelings because she knew in her heart the song was good and could show her fans that she goes through the same hurt they might be going through. her phone rang again

she picked up her phone "why did you hang up on me?!" he said sounding mad "because I don't wanna hear the bullshit" she said simply "grow tf up lani!" he yelled at her "dropping a song about our mother as a dead beat isn't the way to go" he said in a angry tone " she wasn't a bad mother she changed" she chuckled at him trying to hype their mother up "i'm dropping the song end of discussion" she said to her brother "I WILL FLY DOWN THERE AND BEAT YO ASS" she could hear her sister nae in the background, she rolled her eyes

"shut up... listen lani don't fucking drop that song or else" he said in an angrier tone, she looked at her phone and hung up before she walked back in and looked at mars. he looked at her weirdly "drop that song now!!" she said louder than expected

"what happened out there" he said sound confused "just do it please" she begged him, she wasn't gonna take her family shit anymore and she was gonna do what she wanted without caring about anyones feelings anymore

"alright alright I will" she walked up to him as a he opened his laptop, he opened the file and submitted it to all platforms "it'll be up in an hour" he said to her and she nodded her head "thank you ima head out, ive got something to do"

30 MINUTES LATER

Lani pulled into his driveway, got out and walked up to his door then knocked. she waited a few minutes before he finally came to the door "hey" he gave her a smile and pulled her into a hug

she hugged him back "what's up?" he asked her, she didn't know how she was going to tell him but she knew she had to since the song was dropping in 30 minutes

"lewis i have to tell you something before it's too late" he looked at her confused and worried "should we be sitting?" he asked not sure if he should stand or sit for whatever it was "just listen okay" he nodded his head

she took a deep breath before telling him "i like you a lot, i really do" she gave him a half smile "i know how much you hate when people lie, i know that is something you've told me many times"

he looked worried but stayed calm "remember when you asked me if i was kehlani?" he nodded his head "i told you no lani is just my name" she started playing with her finger "lewis i lied to you that day" she said to him

"i am kehlani and in about 20 minutes a song is gonna drop with my picture" she couldn't even look at him scared to see his reaction "im sorry i didn't tell you sooner" she finally looked at him with tears in her eyes

lewis was lost and stuck, he didn't know how to take this information, he looked at her trying to search her eyes for a lie but he couldn't find one "get out" he said lowly, she looked at him not sure what he said "what?" he looked at her directly and stood up, finger pointed at the direction of the door.

"i said get out" his finger shook in the direction to emphasize his words "lewis please im sorry" she pleaded with him "no i asked you to not lie to me! that's the ONE thing i asked from you" he sped walked to the door, pulling it open harshly"get out i need time to think"

lani couldn't believe he was doing this but she understood him, she lied to him and she knew how much he didn't like liars so she walked to the door and stopped in front of him "lewis i lo—" he cut her off before she could say it "i don't wanna hear it just go"

she walked out and he slammed the door. she walked to her car and got in, tears threatened to shed, but she mustered up the strength to hold them back because she knew she fucked up and just hoped he would come around soon.

her phone started going off back to back, she looked down at the phone and noticed notifications from twitter and instagram. she clicked on instagram and saw a post from the shaderoom
