Door #5 "The Gentleman"
A man wearing blue suit laid a red carpet on the Gishi traditional restaurant's hallway. The one wearing a red suit prepared flower confetti while the other man with yellow suit shouted : "Master Junhui, it is all ready!"
The sky became brighter as soon as a handsome man, named Wen Junhui, walked in. He has charismatic eyes as sharp as eagle's, pointed nose, heart -shape lips and sexy skinny well built.
"Congratulations! Yippie!" The red suit guy, who has small eyes, pale skin and cute face, rejoiced while throwing the confetti up air. His name is Hoshi.
Those three guys: red, blue and yellow, who look like a new modern version of teletubbies clapped their hands happily. On the other hand, the main lead of this wedding-like entrance wasn't pleased at all. Junhui's brows met in the middle as he took a deep breath.
"I believe, I didn't ask the three of you to give me this embarrassing introduction," he complained, gritting his teeth.
"But you had said to treat you really special when you enter this traditional restaurant?" Dokyeom, the blue suited guy, reminded to his master. He has rounded small eyes that always turned into a crescent moon every time he smiles. The bridge of his nose is tall, but thinly pointed. His face is small but his sharp jaw makes him look so manly.
"YOU BUNCH OF IDIOTS!" Junhui shouted before stepping to Dokyeom's right foot and kicking Hoshi's knees. He tried to hit the yellow suited guy, named Seungkwan, but he successfully avoided his hit.
"You missed!" Seungkwan laughed. After some seconds, he realized it was insane of him to dare mock his own master! And so, Seungkwan offered his butt and requested, "I'm sorry for avoiding your hit master. Here, punish me!"
Tired from their antics, Junhui just rolled his eyes and walked past on the three while mumbling, "Idiots."
His three servants follow him on the way to the front of a reserve room, where inside has a man Junhui's hated the most.
"Listen you three," Junhui whispered. "You all know who I am going to meet with, right? So introduce me well."
The three nodded in unison.
"Okay. Now introduce me," Junhui's commanded, head up high. What he expected to hear are introductions like: "The one and only Wen's heir is here!" or "Youngmaster, Junhui, is here." However, they exceeded his expectation. Worst, it went to the wrong direction.
"The Prince is here!" Hoshi shouted in loud and firm voice that Seungkwan, Dokyeom and Junhui even covered their ears. "Open the door! I repeat, the prince is here! Open the door!"
Junhui's jaw dropped. He eyes Hoshi as he whispered, "ARE YOU CRAZY?"
"Let me introduce you again," Dokyeom offered this time. He forged a cough before shouting, "At the door corner! Wearing white suit, silver necklace and jaguar printed brief; With only 275 pounds, Wen... Juuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuunhui! Let's get ready to rumble!"
"Pfft!" Seungkwan couldn't control his laughter anymore.
The three looked at each other and laughed together, while Junhui caught his face with his palm. "How I wish to kill them right now. Darn it." he opened the door and leave the three outside.
As soon as he went inside, he saw a man is sitting on mat while pouring tea in his cup. '"You got very funny acquaintances there," this gentle looking guy, Joshua, chuckled.
Junhui sat in front of him and took Joshua's tea cup. "What about you? You didn't bring your two friends who always wiggle their tails behind your back." He laughed as he drank the tea in one shot. He soon regretted it because the tea was hot.
"Of course. I can go alone without them. I am not a child anymore," Joshua responded with a smile.
"Then are you saying that I am a child? " Junhui scoffed with grimace.
"A child who drank his tea in one shot instead of taking a sip. Am I wrong? I really like your innocent attitude, Junhui. If ever Wen's Organisation has the same vision as yours, then we won't be like Romeo and Juliet from those old novel."
"Quit this meaningless chit chatting and just get to the point. Also, put that smile out of my face, it's very annoying."
Joshua nodded his head while chuckling. "All right." With two hands up, he erased his calculative beam.
"Now, tell mw. Why did the heir of HongYoonChoi asked me, the heir of Wen organisation, for a sudden meeting?"
Joshua first took a sip of his tea. Then he answered, "No exact reason." He let out a long pause, "Hmmmm?" Before he continued, "Are you going to believe it if I say that I went here for world peace?"
Junhui answered with straight face, "No."
Why?" Joshua teased, tilting his head in wonder.
"It is rare wish for a monster like you. World peace? What a bullshit. I know you killed a lot, Joshua. So please, remove that fucking angelic mask of yours in front of me."
"Monster huh?" Joshua couldn't help laughing. "I'm surprised to hear that word from the mouth of Wens' ancestor. Do you want to know how many people died in the hands of Wen?"
Believing that it was just a lie, Junhui smirked. "Wen didn't do that. It was HongYoonChoi."
"Us? No. We only kill traitors. Oh come on, I came here to be your friend, Junhui."
"Friend? After mocking my organisation, you're asking me to be your friend? Fuck you."
Joshua gripped his cup, maintaning his nonchalant face. "I pity you."
"P-Pardon?" Junhui clutched his own cup too.
"For knowing nothing, I pity you."
Feel insulted, Junhui threw the cup away.
'Crash!'
Next, he stood up. "Shut up!" He yelled, hand was trembling at Joshua's wrinkled collar.
"Like this." Joshua met his shaking pupils. "You're clueless like this."
He really wanted to punch him on the face. But he can't. Because the moment he does, a war will start between their organisations. He won't like to see a bloodbath just because he hated this man.
"You pity me?" Junhui laughed sarcastically. "How about you? Do you still tremble in front of your father?"
Silence settled.
He promised not to smile in front of Junhui but he couldn't help it. Thus, the tail of his lips creepily soared. "Aren't you and I the same? You..." Joshua pointed him. "...and I." Then the tip of his finger went to himself.
Joshua didn't want to touch the most sensitive part of Junhui. He knew that Junhui hate it whenever he was being compared with him. But little did Junhui know, Joshua also loathed the idea. 'Because he's way better than me,' Joshua confessed inwardly.
Junhui pulled his hand away from his collar. He fixed his posture and rolled his eyes. "I couldn't believe that I wasted my time hearing these bullshits." Their eyes never met again before Junhui left the room.
Now alone, Joshua savoured the stillness. He took another sip of his cold tea even though he knew he won't enjoy it. "Like my life," he whispered at the tip of the ceramic cup.
Finishing his drinks afterward, he stood up and picked the pieces of broken cup that Junhui threw before.
"Oh my," he uttered. "I need to compensate this to Wonwoo." The last piece is at his palm. He was about to place them at the mat there on the table but was halted by the notification from his phone. Using his available right hand, he got his phone from his inner pocket. Then Jeonghan's message popped at the screen.
[Dude. Minghao caught Celine in your house. I told him we're couple but he didn't believe me. LolXD]
Cellphone at his right hand. Broken ceramics at his left. He both clenched his fists and blood gushed out from his left. Tuk Tuk Tuk. Soon, when he shoved his phone back to his pocket, he dropped the broken pieces to the floor. They were as white as snow before, but now it's tainted in red.
Joshua walked out of the reserved room and walked at the restaurant hallway. Every seconds that passed by, his pace was getting faster and faster, along with the beating of his heart.
"Hey, where are you going?!" The owner of the restaurant saw him running, but Joshua didn't bother looking back until he's completely gone. "He looks pale," Wonwoo, the owner of Gishi restaurant, sighed.
Among the people who knows Joshua, Wonwoo is one of them. And today is the first time he saw Joshua lost his composure. He even worried if he could drive in that state so he called his bestfriend, Seungcheol.
----
Joshua arrived at the Hong residence after driving his car at 160km/h. He passed into the gate, and guards went pale when they saw the youngmaster who suddenly appeared after many years. They almost forgot his face, but they did not because it's too pretty to overlook.
It's been years. Joshua once imagine the day he'll come back yet he didn't know it'll be today. Today.
"Y-Young master?" even the maid, who made a bet that her retirement will come first before she'll witness the youngmaster's return, freeze at the mansion's entrance.
Breathing heavily, Joshua is standing in front of the huge opened door.
"I'll inform y-your f-father, youngmaster," the maid stuttered in panic. She dashed away and Joshua didn't stop her.
'Inform my father? And what? Ask him to come here because his son couldn't bear entering his house?' Joshua thought.
He tried stepping in. He really tried. But at his first step, all of his muscles trembled on their own; as if he was trapped in an electric weapon that brought intense pain in every tip of his edges.
In the midst of fighting over his fear which won't subside, a voice called him. "Youngmaster Joshua?" He looked back with exhausted look as if he just came back after a year of endless war.
Bloody left hand, pale complexion and out of breath, Minghao knew that he'll collapse in case Joshua saw his father. So he suggested, "I will prepare the garden."
But...
"Why did you barge in my house?"
'So he came here after hearing the news from Jeonghan. My youngmaster, who loathes this place, came back because of a woman.' Minghao analyzed in his head.
With an expression that cannot be read, Minghao responded, "Master found out that you went to the hospital a week ago. So he asked me to check if you're doing okay. Then I met youngmaster Jeonghan and his girlfriend at your house."
"..."
"And now, I saw you here."
The man, who always reserved a smile behind his grimace, found it hard to fake his expression. Yet he succeed. "Yeah," he said while forging a beam. "I came here to ask your master not to send you anymore."
Minghao observed him more. Joshua was smiling but the white of his eyes have a touch of red.
"Actually, I was on my way to report these. Do you still wish to come in and see him? Youngmaster?" Minghao asked.
"No need."
Joshua carried his feet with all of his might to walk. As he stepped away, Minghao watched his back faded. "Now it's clear. That woman isn't Jeonghan's girlfriend,' Minghao concluded.
Walking with clouds above his head, Joshua stopped when he sensed the man standing in his North. It was Seungcheol, the third heir of HongYoonChoi.
"I've been here since before. I heard your conversation with Minghao," Seungcheol explained.
Taking a deep breath, Joshua drew a smile on his lips. "I see. That's why I sensed your presence."
Without changing his blank expression, Seungcheol showed the screen of his phone. "Wonwoo called me and said you suddenly left. So I followed you."
Joshua nodded, then changed the topic, "Minghao went to my house."
"Jeonghan informed me that as well. He told me he'll bring the girl to his favorite boutique. So I was planning of going there also."
"Because a wolf will eat a lamb."
"...?"
"You were worried at her, right?" Joshua asked. "Did you really fall from her charm?"
'Weren't you the same? You came here as soon as you heard the news. Isn't she special for you too?' Seungcheol wanted to ask these, but he kept it hidden behind his lips.
"I don't know," Seungcheol answered before he avoided his friend's gaze. "I couldn't even understand myself too. Why did I like her the first time I saw her? I asked this question all night."
Small chuckles vibrated in Joshua's throat. Seungcheol watched him looked upon the cloudy sky. "No. I understand. It's natural for you to feel that."
Instead of asking why, Seungcheol brought, "how about you? You have never been interested to any women. So why trap her?"
'To fulfill my promise,' Joshua answered only in his head.
"Do you like her?" Seungcheol added.
"No." Joshua looked back. Then he repeated, "No. I don't."
In the garden where childhood memories were made, Joshua declined Seungheol's question. But they didn't know that in the future, they'll stand at the same place. Seungcheol will ask the same question, but... Joshua's answer will be different.
