One Week Later...

"I hate stairs..." Mel whimpered, dragging himself up to the seventh floor of the apartment building. Waiting for him, Buddy sighed quietly before grabbing his friend by the collar and hoisting him up. "Come on, we're late," the dachshund murmured. The two dogs headed for one of the doors. Rearing up, the pug scratched it. The moment the front door was opened, the quiet hallway was greeted by the song September by Earth Wind and Fire. Spreading his arms open in a wide gesture while wearing his superhero costume, Snowball exclaimed, "Hey guys..." His voice faded away as he looked them up and down. Facepawing himself, the rabbit muttered, "You guys were supposed to wear costumes..." Inside, all the party animals were dressed up.

"I believe you underestimate our power," Mel declared, holding his head high before clapping his paws together twice. The lights in the hall turned off. They turned back on when the pug clapped again, revealing himself and Buddy in their own superhero costumes. Snowball's jaw dropped before he murmured, "Get your tails in here."

"Leonard, no. We're not blasting your kind of music," Chloe, dressed up as a strawberry, ordered the poodle Leonard, who was in a Rockstar outfit. Huffing, the poodle muttered, "I never get to play my music..."

A whole chorus of cheers broke out at a table where a fierce game of poker was being played. A smile on his face, Pops remarked, "I still have my touch. Try to beat that youngsters." Peering over the edge of the table so they could see, Tiny turned to Pickles and Princess. "Do you think I can beat him guys?" he asked. Shaking her head, Princess replied, "There's no way."

"I'm hungry," Pickles piped up.

"Chug! Chug! Chug!" a bunch of animals chanted in the bathroom. Drinking every last drop of toilet water, Leo lifted his head and smiled, his pearly white fangs shining. The crowd that was gathered around the lion cheered loudly, throwing confetti into the air. Looking down at a stopwatch that was in between him and Sweetpea, Norman announced, "New record!"

Standing next to each other in dead silence as they watched the other animals party, Ozone and Tiberius quietly drank some punch. Deciding to break the quiet between them, Ozone piped up, "Nice scar." Making no reactions, Tiberius remarked, "Nice tooth." It became quiet between the two again until the old hawk suddenly punched the cat in the face, knocking out the broken tooth. Taking another sip of his punch, he smiled to himself.

Over on the dance floor, Daisy was wowing the crowd with a bunch of fancy moves. The animals watching her stomped to the beat of the music as they cheered the Shih Tzu on. Standing on one forepaw, she hopped around a bit before spinning on her back. When she stopped, she pulled off a pose. This sent the crowd wild. Watching the small dog who he saw as a mother figure, Hu padded forward and licked Daisy's face happily, Laohu joining him.

"Make way!" Duke called as he came out of the kitchen. Walking on two feet behind him, Tina carried a giant cake. Max and Gidget followed with plastic forks and paper plates. Seeing that it was finally time for cake, Rooster padded over to the table where the grizzly bear had placed the delicious dessert, Liam riding on his back. Covered in white frosting, the cake was soaked in sprinkles of many colors. A message, written in blue icing, said, 'Have fun in kindergarten Liam'. A single candle was lit. Giggling happily while all his animal friends gathered around, the little boy blew it out.

Watching while everyone was served a slice of cake, Max glanced over to his right. Gidget was over by the window, gazing up at the bright blue skies above. Just then, he felt someone nudge him. "Go talk to her," Rooster whispered, tossing his head towards the fluffy white Pomeranian. Smiling while his tail wagged, the Jack Russell terrier trotted over to her.
