Chapter 24
"Hi there baby girl," Daisy whispered softly to the tigress. The giant cat had woken up when the music had started and was now trying to push its nose through the bars. The Shih Tzu gently patted the white feline with black stripes and pretty green eyes on the muzzle as she continued whispering soothing words to her. Squinting his eyes as he read the name tag on the cage the tigress was locked up in, Max piped up in a hushed voice so the wolf pack didn't hear, "Says here her name is Laohu."
"That's wonderful Tiny Dog. How bout you help me figure out which key opens this freaking cage?!" Snowball whispered, almost hissing like a cat. He was hanging onto the bars of the cage door with his back feet. He was quietly sorting through the keys on the ring, tring not to lose his temper whenever one didn't work. So far, he had gone through twenty different ones and still hadn't gotten the cage opened. Looking up at the rabbit who was hanging upside down above their heads, Daisy suggested, "Hey Fluff Butt, maybe you should ask Laohu which key opens the door."
"And how will we now that's gonna work?" Snowball asked, moving his golden cape out of his face to look down at Daisy and Max. However, the white rabbit was not looking forward to going through the whole ring. The sun had already gone down a few minutes ago and he was nowhere even close to going through half the keys. Holding the ring out towards Laohu, he mumbled, "Alright pretty girl, which one is it?" Sniffing the keys while blinking her green eyes, the tigress pawed at one of the bigger ones on the end. Daisy flashed a victorious glance over at Snowball. Rolling his blue eyes, the rabbit stuck the key into the keyhole and twisted it.
The four animals were rewarded with a satisfying click.
"Uh oh, swinging door," Snowball murmured as the cage door swung open. Max quickly grabbed a hold of it before it could crash into the bars. Meanwhile, Laohu padded out and rolled in a nearby patch of grass, purring. Smiling while her tail wagged happily, Daisy rubbed the big cat's belly. "Who's a good girl, huh? Who's such a pretty good girl?" the Shih Tzu questioned. Laohu's tail flicked left and right as her purr grew louder. Clearing his throat, Snowball muttered, "Sergeant Daisy? We still need to get her out of here before-"
The squawking of a parrot could be heard sounding an alarm.
