8: A Vague Realization

Chapter Song: My Love - Wale (feat Major Lazer, WizKid & Dua Lipa)

If the song's not your taste, there are two other songs called My Love by Justin Timberlake and Majid Jordan :)

We didn't stop driving for the day until a little after 9:00 PM. Nic was determined to get as far as we could, but I could tell he was exhausted by the way his eyes drooped and his posture was slouched, he was driving for almost ten hours now.

Nic insisted on paying for the room, telling me to stay in the car until everything was situated.

It took a little convincing, but I ended up sighing deeply as I watched him walk into the rather sophisticated hotel. He wouldn't settle for anything less.

Glancing into the back, I smile at the couple sleeping peacefully. "Kat," I whisper, leaning back to shake her knee.

After repeating her name once more, she finally stirs, shifting in her seat before slowly opening her eyes.

She glances around for a minute, trying to figure out where she is.

With a soft groan, she stretches her arms in front of her. "Where are we?"

I smile at her with a cheeky smile. "Bristol, Tennessee."

Kat gaped at me. "Really? Already?"

I nod swiftly, finally turning back in my seat. "Nic's been driving for almost ten hours. We're just about to enter North Carolina, but we're stopping for the night."

She nods, unbuckling her seatbelt carefully.

"Where is he anyway?" Kat tries to rub the sleep from her eyes

"He's getting the room."

Kat reaches down to grab her purse from the floor. It was nowhere near as ugly as my mother's new Givenchy one.

"Don't I need to go pay for mine and Preston's room?"

I shrug casually. "I don't know, maybe he's just paying for one room with double beds?"

I honestly wasn't sure how Nic wanted to do this, but I shrugged the thought off easily.

Nic walked out of the sliding glass doors a few minutes later, a key card in his hand.

When he opened the driver's side door, he takes the key from the ignition. "Alright, let' go."

Without a word, I slip out of the car, the nippy night air making me wrap my arms around myself.

"Nicholas, don't I need to pay for my room?" Kat asks, pushing the door open but not making a move to get out.

A glance in Preston's direction told me she was going to wake him first.

"No, I payed for one of the suites. There's two bedrooms." His answer was spewn out carelessly, like paying for a suite that most likely costs hundred of dollars was no big deal.

"Oh, thank you Nic. I really appreciate it!"

Kat appointed him with a grateful smile.

I didn't wait to pull my suitcase from the trunk, desperate to get into the warm building.

"Where are we?" I heard Preston ask, his voice groggy.

Tuning his and Kat's voices out, I begin to pull Nic's suitcase out next when his sleeveless arms encompassed my body, his hands gripping onto the navy blue suitcase I was trying to yank out.

"I got it, babe." He assures me, carefully taking the suitcase from my hands.

He pulls his right arm away, allowing me to slip out of his arms.

My gaze was steady as I watched him easily take all of the suitcases out, his muscles flexing visibly.

I bite my lip hoping it would somehow distract me from this beautiful boy in front of me. It was really no help.

* * * *

"This is so beautiful!" Kat gushed when we all stepped into the spacious suite.

"It's pretty overrated, if you ask me," the one and only jerk-face Torez grumbles, pulling the strap of his duffel further up his shoulder.

Turning to glare at him, I let go of my suitcase handle. "Just be fucking grateful you have a roof over your head tonight, you selfish di--"

Nic's hands grip onto my upper arms, pulling me into him. "Whoa, no need to get worked up, Ada." He whispers in my ear, a hint of amusement spiked in his tone.

Shaking my head, I step away from him, deciding to keep my mouth shut.

We were all standing in the immaculate kitchen with it's white marble counters and shining silver appliances.

The large room extended into a cozy looking living area to the left with two grey plush sectional , a mirrored coffee table and a 50' inch flatscreen TV mounted to the furthest rich cream wall--across from the couch.

To the right of the kitchen, there was a set of french doors, leading to what could only be a balcony.

Wheeling my suitcase into the kitchen, I noticed there were three doors on every wall in the living room.

I wasted no time in pushing the closest door open, revealing a large bathroom with a red and black color palette. Everything was either glass or marble--including the toilet.

I soon realized the other two doors lead to bedrooms.

When I pushed open the one to the left of the flat screen, everything was either a sandy brown or grey. There was a large king sized bed pushed against the furthest wall, two bedside tables on either side, a wooden polished desk to the right below a window, and there was a fairly modern dresser to the right, a small TV placed at an angled, facing the bed.

The other room was more or less the same. The room had a color scheme of a grullo and cream color, like the walls in the living room. The room must have been the master bedroom because it was more spacious and there was another set of french doors to the right of the bed.

I walked out of the bedroom only to find Nic standing patiently by the couch.

I jab my thumb in the direction of the room I had just came out of. "That's definitely ours."

His hands were stuffed into the front pockets of his jeans, a smile idling on his lips. "Oh, so we're sharing a room?"

Scoffing lightly, I place a hand on my hip. "Unless you want to share a bed with Preston--or better yet, I share a bed with him, yes, we're sharing." The thought made goosebumps appear on my arms.

It didn't seem all that funny to Nic either because his smile instantly dropped.

Taking slow steps towards him, I smile tenderly. "Oh, don't you get worked up, Nic. I'm only teasing."

Throwing his words back in his face only made his scowl deepen.

Slowly, I wrap my hands around his waist, looking up into his ocean blue eyes. "You better be," he mutters, his eyes traveling down to my lips.

"Promise," I breath, slowly reeling in just how perfect this guy was.

This guy, who was all mine.

Before I could think about it, my lips were connecting with his, savoring this very moment, from the way his hands traveled to my own waist, gripping firmly, to the way he leaned forward, his actions almost as frantic as I had felt in that moment.

I think I love this boy.
