Ella woke the next morning, still tired from all the excitement the previous night. She put on some clean robes and joined her friends in the common room. "Morning," She said blearily. "What classes are today?" Rose pulled a list from her pocket. "Lets see... Transfiguration, Potions, Herbology and Care of Magical creatures." Rachel grinned. "Cool, that means I can see my dad." "Won't you anyway?" Albus asked, coming down the stairs from the boys dorm. "You know, every night at dinner?" Ella yawned. "When's breakfast?" "Anytime," said a black-haired boy. "Hi James," Ella said, greeting her cousin. "If breakfast is anytime, I think I'm going to like it here. Bye!" Ella ran from the room, out the portrait and into the dining hall. Not many students were there, but the shiny gold platters were still heaped with food. Ella sat at the Gryffindor table and ate a piece of toast. Sean sat next to her. "'Morning," He said. Ella would have replied, but she had a mouth full of toast, so she simply nodded. She noticed that most of the students were leaving. Swallowing her mouthful, Ella said, "Is it time for classes?" A Ravenclaw sixth year nodded at her, and Ella leapt to her feet and followed a group of first years. Hopefully a few of them knew where the classrooms were. Sure enough, they filed into a room. Ella couldn't describe it. It seemed like home. It smelled nice, it looked nice, it even felt nice. The second she set foot in the room, she relaxed. She saw Rose near the front and sat next to her. A tall woman in midnight blue robes and graying brown hair stood at the front of the class. Once everyone was seated, she said, "I am Professor McGonagall. I am your transfiguration teacher." There were a few mumbles of good morning, and she frowned. Ella however, said in a bright and cheery voice, "Good morning Professor McGonagall." When the teacher heard, she gave a tart smile, then stopped. She stared at Ella for a long moment. She seemed shocked. She then continued. "In my class, you shall learn how to change something into something else. However, we will not start on transfiguring people until your sixth year." Ella felt a little put down. She heard that you could change your appearance with transfiguration. McGonagall continued. "Today, we will start with transfiguring a button into a marble." She waved her wand and a button appeared in front of each of them. "Just point your wand at the button, and say, Transfiguro Marble!" Everyone in their class raised their wands to point at their buttons and said repeated the incantation. Sean's exploded in his face. "Professor, I think I need a new button." Ella nervously raised her maple wand and said clearly, "Transfiguro Marble!" Suddenly, the button grew rounder and smoother. It was a marble. "Excellent job Ms. Johnson," McGonagall said. "20 points for Gryffindor!" She was still staring at Ella. The red head squirmed. After that, Ella watched the rest of the class try to turn their buttons to marbles. Only three did it, and none of them on the first try as Ella had done. Once the class was over, and the students were leaving, Professor McGonagall said, "Ms. Johnson, I'd like to see you after class." Ella hung back as the rest of the students left. When they were all gone, the teacher closed the door behind them. "You did an excellent job in class today," She said to Ella. "Thank you Professor," Ella said, blushing at her praise. "However," The woman continued, "That is not what I wished to talk to you about." Ella stiffened. "Then what is it Professor?" "You're an animangus."
