Mabel was huddled up next to all the other girls her age in the underground bunker. The war had ended but many where rioting the streets in protest. Bombs where everywhere. Mother said that my father would be devastated if he saw the state of the country.

Mother also says that my Father fought in the war. That he was the one who bombed the Worian Country's king. That's how father died. Many people in the village see's her father as a hero. The other Villages? Not so much. That's why there are so many attacks on the village because of this being my Father's old town. People believe in this country supported the King because they came for Worian. And the people who didn't support the king think it's his fault of the country's new ruin.

"Mabel?" Chrystal whispered.

"Yes?"

"Mrs. Kaufman says that  it's time to leave the bunker."

"I'm right behind you."  Chrystal was an 8 year old little girl.  Mabel was 13. The age gap changes nothing about their friendship.

They where apart of an underground school that helps out, The school brings supplies to hospitals for people injured during the bombing, They supply food for people who have lost their homes, They steal traps set around the village. They where top secret though. Mabel wanted to be a nurse.  She wanted to help people. She wanted to live up to her father's name.

The fog, smoke, and dirt made the country seem like a live battle zone at all times. Mother said the country used to be beautiful. Mabel didn't quite believe that.

"Mabel? Do you have Mr. bean with you?" Lacey said while tugging on her skirt. Mabel had been so busy scanning the area for traps, she didn't even notice the small kitten rag doll she had in her hands.

"Of course Lacey," Lacey hugged the small  plush tightly. Lacy was 4 years old, she was great at comforting the injured soldiers.

Mrs. Kaufman clapped her hands loudly.

"Okay ladies, we are headed to the market to maintain supplies of food for the hungry children, then we are going to go back to the class to cook the goods, and finally we are going to deliver it to the shelter." She turned around and started walking, the girls followed in single file. The teacher paused for a minute and turned around.

"Make sure to look for traps we can decounstruct."

"Yes Teacher." The girls said in unison. The class walked by ruins upon ruins of houses, legacy's, shops. Mabel kept her eye out for traps, These traps trapped whoever stepped on them and where normally covered in dirt. Once they where trapped it would snap the bone. Usually causing infection because of the dirty spikes.

The streets where filled with dead bodies, most of them trapped in the traps for eternity.

The market was the only thing the stayed strong with no damage, seeing as everyone from both sides got food from the market. The agreement was no fighting in the market.

Each girl was given a list on what to gather,

𝓜𝓪𝓫𝓮𝓵'𝓼 𝓵𝓲𝓼𝓽

20 𝓹𝓸𝓽𝓪𝓽𝓸𝓮𝓼

20 𝓬𝓪𝓻𝓻𝓸𝓽𝓼

24 𝓼𝓽𝓪𝓵𝓴𝓼 𝓸𝓯 𝓬𝓮𝓵𝓮𝓻𝔂

8 𝓸𝓷𝓲𝓸𝓷𝓼

𝓖𝓸 𝓽𝓸 𝓽𝓱𝓮 𝓼𝓽𝓪𝓽𝓾𝓮 𝔀𝓱𝓮𝓷 𝓯𝓲𝓷𝓲𝓼𝓱𝓮𝓭

Mabel grabbed her basket from Mrs. Kaufman and was off, if she was fast she could get the last of the potatoes, if push comes to shove Mabel would ask for the rotten ones. Mabel smiled slightly in amusement.

Let's just hope it doesn't come to that...
