❄ Judging Criteria! ❄

This is the form we're going to use to judge your story, and this will be what we post for our book reviews. We're using a 100-point scale.

Title/Book Cover:
Okay, so I know you shouldn't judge a book by its cover, but this is the thing that first catches the reader's eye and really appeals to them. The title and the book cover have to show what your story is about in some form. This is worth ten points.

Grammar:
I think it makes sense why we'd want your story to have good grammar… Just basic things though, like capitalization and punctuation. We're not going to freak out if you have a few typos because on Wattpad, it's inevitable. We also know that there are some people who are learning English still, so it's mostly so you can learn something from it. I also know that some stories are meant to be written more like dialogue and some mistakes are on purpose, so as long as we can recognize that, you're good. Anyway, this is worth ten points.

Tone of Voice:
This is what can really make or break a story! The narration has to attract us in some way, and if it's in first person, it reveals a lot about the character speaking. We'll be taking a look at detail, style, use of literary devices, showing us instead of telling us, etc. This is worth thirty points.

Characters:
Since they're the people who are going to lead your story on, we want to at least understand why they feel the way they do and sympathize with them. We want them to realistically handle situations that seem fitting for their character. We would also love to see well-developed characters that aren't just the main characters. Don't focus on making the main character stand out so much that the rest of the story is lost. This is worth twenty points.

Overall Content:
This kind of goes with tone of voice, but it's more general than just the narration. We also look at how the plot is progressing and what your story might be missing as a whole. This is worth thirty points.

Added Points:
This can compensate for up to ten points depending on if the judge felt your story was good enough to make up for some of the other things. That, or they can add about three points or something if they just think you still did good or deserved it. Judges can add up to ten points (or however many until they've reached 100, depending on the story--if someone has 100 points without added points, you can't add anymore points).

Basic Review:
The basic review is going to be the most important part (at least in my opinion), even though it isn't technically worth any points. In the review, we'll take all of the topics above and tell you what you did well on and what could use some improving.

Overall, the scores and review will follow this format:

Title/Book Cover: X/10
