Chapter 2
Thumbs up Tony. You're officially chaotic. All I have to say is... I KNEW IT!

Sheen took a shaky breath and got to her feet. She backed up a couple of steps, bumping into a table. She looked at the rest of the scene. Bruce, as the Other Guy, was filled with arrows and spears like a pincushion, Clint's bow was snapped and he lay under a large rock, Natasha had a spear in her chest that crackled with electricity.
Sheen turned away, unable to look anymore. She was seeing her greatest fear. Failing her captain. Failing her team, her family.
Just as suddenly as everything had appeared, it was gone. She was back where she had started with Tony at her side. He looked confused and a little shaken.
He held out his left hand and started walking around the scepter. A metal glove from his suit flew through the air and closed around his hand. He swung it through the blue light and grabbed the scepter.
Instantly, all of the lights in the large room went out. The only light coming from the hallway they had come from.
"Come on," Tony said. "Let's go before this place makes me crazy."
"We've got names," Agent Hill said, walking into the room. She stopped when she saw Steve and Sheen talking. "Is now a bad time?"
"Not at all," Sheen said, giving Agent Hill a smile. "Names on who?"
She passed Sheen a tablet and started walking away, clearly expecting Steve and her to follow. "The two enhanced that you saw in the Hydra base."
"Wanda and Pietro Maximoff." Sheen passed the tablet to Steve.
"Right." Agent Hill rattled off a bunch of words that neither Sheen nor Steve understood. When she turned to look at them in front of the elevator she sighed. "He's fast and she's weird. Turns out they also volunteered for the experiments."
Steve's expression hardened as the elevator opened. He stepped inside. "Right. Because who would let a German scientist mess with their body?"
Agent Hill's face turned to dismay. The elevator doors closed.
"I hope he doesn't think I meant him" she murmured.
Sheen shook her head. "No. He knows you mean well. What you told us was a great help. Thank you."
Agent Hill nodded. "Anytime Commander."
Sheen watched Agent Hill walk away. She was likely the only one who would be able to see all of Pietro's movements. Steve was the only one who knew Sheen was a speedster. Her suit was tapped into her speed, which was how she could travel faster than everyone else.
Sheen yawned. Despite the fact that the battle for Loki's scepter had happened three days before, she still felt drowsy. She was almost looking forward to the party that would happen in an hour.
Almost.
She would need to be present. She had no choice, and not just because Tony Stark was her brother. Steve would be there, along with all of The Avengers, plus a few extras. As second in command, it was her duty to show up. Besides, she couldn't let Thor leave without seeing all of The Avengers in one place, privately.
"Why Tony?" she whispered to herself. "Why does it always have to be a party?"
"-and I was like, boom! You lookin' for this?" Rhodey grinned at Sheen like he'd made the best joke ever.
Sheen nodded, deep in thought about what he'd just said. Where'd he gotten his suit from?
Rhodey sighed. "Boom! You lookin'- Why do I even talk to you? Everyone else at this party that kills."
"Huh," Sheen looked directly into his eyes. "Maybe you shouldn't tell that to people who do it every day hmm?"
Rhodey frowned. "I recognize you. What's your name again?"
Sheen resisted the urge to roll her eyes, she was here as Captain America's second in command. "Sheen Stark. Second in command to The Avengers."
Rhodey's eyes widened. "Oh. No wonder. The Captain and Thor didn't find that funny either."
Sheen smirked at him. "Well isn't that a shocker?" She ignored his annoyed look and walked off to find Thor and Steve.
When she found them, Thor was pouring alcohol from a canteen into a glass.
"-Asgard," Thor was saying. "It is not for consumption by mortal men. Ah, Lady Stark. Would you care for a glass?"
Sheen looked at him in surprise. Clearly Thor had figured out she wasn't all mortal. "No thank you. I'll pass."
"Come now Thor," one of the old men at the table pressed. "Give us a taste!"
Thor handed the glass to Steve, who took it and eyed the drink like it was poison.
Thor shrugged and filled the cups. "I did warn you."
The party was over much quicker than Sheen could have possibly hoped. In what seemed like no time at all it was only The Avengers along with Agent Hill and Rhodey sitting in couches and chairs around a glass coffee table.
"I'll wager none of you can lift Mjolnir," Thor said with a loud laugh. "He who can lift the hammer will be a prince of Asgard."
Clint smirked and got to his feet. "Do you now? Well, prepare to be impressed." Clint walked confidently to the end of the table and put a hand on Mjolnir's handle. He grinned and pulled. The hammer stayed on the table. "Huh..." He pulled again. "How in the world do you lift that thing Thor?"
Thor shook his head with a smile and waved to Tony. "Care to try your hand Stark?"
Tony got to his feet. "Well, I'd be a fool to turn down that offer." Clint flopped down where Tony had been sitting as Tony tried to lift the hammer without luck.
"Hang on a second," he said. He left the room and came back in his Iron Man suit. He tried again and was met with the same result. Rhodey got up and helped, but they couldn't move the hammer.
Bruce couldn't lift it either. Agent Hill turned down the offer, as did Natasha, leaving Steve and Sheen as the only ones who hadn't tried their hand at it.
Steve paused a moment before getting up and walking to the end of the table. He wrapped both hands around the handle and pulled. From Sheen's view, Steve didn't seem to have any trouble as the hammer squeaked, shifting an inch on the table. Thor stared at the hammer in shock. Steve's eyes flicked to Thor's face.
Sheen watched as Steve acted like he couldn't lift the hammer. Thor looked relieved when Steve sat down and Mjolnir still sat firmly at the end of the table.
"Lady Stark." Thor gestured to the hammer.
Sheen stepped over Steve's legs to the end of the table. When she touched the hammer she felt a humming power run up her hand. The soft leather covering the handle felt comfortable in her hand. With no problem at all, she lifted the hammer from the table and tossed it into the air.
The hum intensified and the handle sparked a bit. It came back down and Sheen caught it in her right hand.
She held it out to an astonished Thor. "I don't want to enter Asgard. That's your world, not mine."
"Now how did she do that?" Tony asked.
Thor took the hammer, looking right into Sheen's eyes. He was looking at her in a different way now. Not as Sheen, but as Steve's worthy second in command. "She is worthy," Thor said calmly, though his eyes showed a hint of nervousness. "That means that she is likely the only one who didn't lift the hammer with greed in mind."
There was a moment of silence before Clint and Tony started chuckling.
They stopped almost instantly as a computerized voice spoke from the doorway. "Strings, strings... Oh hello."
