I sighed softly, leaning against Kaldur.

"What is it starfish?" He wrapped an arm around me.

"Nothing." I mumbled, turning into his side. "I just..."

"You are worried aren't you?" He moved me onto his lap.

I slowly nodded, staring at him. "All your missions...You already killed Artemis..." I shook slightly, tears welling up in my eyes.

"I...I know how it feels when people you love die. You know that, why would you make Wally go through it?" I sobbed, moving and getting up to leave.

Kaldur

I sighed and pulled Percy back onto my lap.

"Let me go Kaldur!" She struggled to get free.

I simply shook my head, before wrapping my arms around her, pressing her back to my chest.

"I'm sorry starfish." I mumbled, holding her as her body shook harder. "I'm sorry..."

I've seen this enough times to know what's happening.

"Kal...Kaldur..." She whimpered, gripping my arm.

"I'm right here starfish."

She started fighting against my grip again, her movements growing frantic.

The room tilted as the waters surrounding the submarine started reacting to Percy's emotions.

And...the two of us were thrown off the bed. I wrapped myself around Percy, making sure I hit the wall and not her.

"I'm sorry starfish." I focused and my tattoos started glowing, shocking her.

Which thankfully knocked her out.

Slowly picking myself up, I gently cradled her to me.  "I'm so sorry."

And now I sound like Percy.

But I caused-

No, I still sound like Percy if I say that.

Laying her down, I gently wiped away the tears on her face. "You are okay...I promise."

A tear dripped down onto her face and I realized that I was crying.

"I don't want you to get hurt...but you still have these flashbacks." I rested a hand on her face. "And they scare me."

I can't protect her from her mind. And I haven't been able to protect her recently because I haven't been there.

I sighed and laid down next to her... I'm going to protect her now that-

Wait.

I shot up and grabbed Percy's arms and pulled her sleeves up. Then I smiled slightly. All of these look old. That's good.

Laying back down I kissed her forehead before closing my eyes.

But, right before I fell asleep I felt her shift and she groaned.

"Are you okay starfish?" I whispered opening my eyes.

"Yeah... thanks."

I stared into her eyes, ignoring the guilt that resided in them. "I apologize for what I did...both now and with Artemis. I can't bring her back..." Mainly because isn't dead. "But if there would have been another way..."

I paused. "You do not hurt do you? I had to get past your resistance to electricity..."

"Just a little bit." She sighed. "But I'm fine."

"I'm glad." I rested my forehead on hers.

She smiled, placing a hand on the side of my face. "Do me a favor and stay safe okay? I..."

Before she could finish that sentence I pressed my lips to hers.

After a moment I pulled away and returned the smile. "I will do my best. But...I need you to stay safe as well."

"We both know that would be an empty promise." She mumbled.

I laughed softly and kissed her again.

"I know. But it eases my mind knowing that you are trying." I played with her hair. "I'm going to sit up okay?"

Percy smiled before sitting up and moving me so my head was on her lap. "No." She chuckled. "I'm sitting up."

I rolled my eyes before sitting up anyway. "Tomorrow do you feel like going on a date? I could use the break and I haven't taken you out for a long time."

"Sure." She wrapped her arms around me, nuzzling my shirt. "But please don't pick an aquarium."

I nodded and pulled her closer before kissing her jaw. "I have something different in mind starfish." I whispered.

She shivered. "Um...Kaldur..."

My smile widened and I just trailed kisses down to her collarbone. But then I pulled away and rested a hand on her face. "Nothing like what you're thinking starfish. Unless you're comfortable with it."

She breathed out slowly. "Okay. Okay then. But what do you have planned?"

I paused before standing up and pulling a blanket over her. "You will find out tomorrow starfish. Please get some rest."

"But-"

"Get some sleep starfish." I looked back at her as I exited my quarters, heading towards my father's study.

"What is it my son?"

"I would like to request that Percy and I may go on land tomorrow."

My father raised his eyes to meet mine. "And why is that?"

I sighed. "She is worried about me, even though she's only known about me betraying the League for a week. I think that this would help take her mind off of it."

He was silent for a minute before he nodded. "You may go tomorrow. Just make sure she doesn't run off. We cannot afford anymore interference than we have already received."

"Thank you Father." I bowed my head respectfully before leaving... walking towards one last place.

Once in the loading bay I searched where I knew I hid what I was looking for...and I quickly found it.

I smiled, slipping it into my pocket. I cannot wait until tomorrow.

Look

I'm not dead.

But...we had sectionals today... nobody made it to districts...

But we would have if one of the other teams knew how to call a ball...
