"How the heck did you do that?!"
"Magic." Grover replied.
I rolled my eyes. "Wow. Best explanation ever Grover."
He stuck his tongue out at me. "Better than your book reports."
"You know I got those off the internet."
"And how they didn't know escapes me."
"Oh please, the only way they'd think something was up is if I passed all my classes."
"Um...how about we go where she isn't being held captive by plants?"
"You guys seriously didn't see her escape? Man, I thought I was bad at this." I chuckled throwing an arm around his shoulder.
"You are bad at this. Now how about we head somewhere a bit safer, plants aren't really the best defense." Grover smiled.
"Especially when we have a hungry vegetarian." I mumbled.
"I ate before I got here, thank you very much."
"Did you bring me an enchilada?"
"Why would I share with you? You never gave me any of your mom's cookies."
"Touché monsieur pussycat."
The Team stared at me.
"You really just quoted Tom&Jerry?" Wally questioned me.
"Quality entertainment. Nothing like watching a cat and mouse fight to relax you after a hard day of school work."
Wally opened his mouth but...
"Enough. We need to move these three to a secured-"
There was the sound of distant crashing. I looked over at Grover.
He chuckled nervously and pulled out his pipes. "Did I forget to mention that I may have been followed?"
I sighed. "You are so taking me to the dam snack bar later."
He laughed.
Everyone else stared at us.
"Okay, me and Grover are gonna head towards the docks, you guys should meet us there."
"Starfish, it is not safe. He might-"
"Trust me."
Kaldur hesitated before nodding.
I grabbed Grover's arm and drug him in a random direction...
Well.
Random isn't exactly the word.
Any direction that didn't lead directly to the sound is more appropriate.
"Grover, take off your shoes. I don't feel like running back after them."
"Well aren't you Girl Scout of the year?"
I sighed and leaned against a tree as he slipped them off and shoved them in his backpack.
"There, happy?"
"Grover, I will give you all my left over tin cans for the next year okay? We need to go."
"Okay. But I am holding you to that Perce."
I grabbed his arm and pulled him after me, ignoring his bleats.
"Do you have any idea where we're even going?"
"To the docks."
"Do you know how to get to the docks?"
"When did you turn into Annie?"
"Since she isn't here and somebody needs to keep you alive. I kinda take that role, especially considering what happens if either one of us dies."
What is he...
The empathy link.
Grover dug his hooves in, causing me to stop.
"They're going after the others, your scent rubbed off on all of them. But mostly the two kids you seem really chummy with. So...what the Hades happened?"
I sighed and looked at him, like really looked at him, without all the walls I keep up.
It doesn't matter with him. He knows what I feel.
And if my emotions have been drowning out his to the point where I forgot about the link...
"The rest of the Seven are dead Grover. All of them...All of them except me."
His shoulders fell. "That means... Annabeth is dead?" His voice wavered.
I nodded slowly.
There was a roar from nearby
"Um, we should probably go help them." I looked up, trying to distract myself from the thoughts that urged to me to find anything sharp.
Grover frowned, he probably noticed, but he nodded.
"Come on, this way." I lead him through to the edge of the woods, hiding behind a tree and watching the Team fight a cyclops.
Dick meanwhile was being shielded by Connor and Kaldur.
Great. The two people who could actually do a fair amount of damage.
Mortal metal does work, but Annie said her mom was guiding her on how to kill the monsters with a hammer.
And from what she said I'm guessing it wasn't easy.
"What are we going to do?"
"Still got that wedding dress?" I grinned.
"Where is the Sea Spawn?!"
"Hey look, guess you won't need it at all." I chuckled softly.
"What do you think they're seeing?"
"Kaldur is seeing a cyclops. No idea bout the others though. They might be seeing one too."
They know about the gods so I have no idea.
"Hey Grover, things go south. Get them out of here. I don't want to accidently hurt them."
I ran towards the water, without leaving the woods. I'm not stupid.
But I jumped in and swam before poking my head up.
Okay. Deep breath.
I sent a whip of water barreling into the cyclops, with enough force to knock it backwards into a warehouse.
And...you know, denting the warehouse.
Hope they have mythological creature insurance.
Hey, if a demigod ever starts an insurance agency it'd be like those act if God clauses except act of any god clause.
You'd never get anything out of it.
"What the-"
I sent a blade of water, which cut the cyclops into two pieces before it dissolved into dust.
Two attacks in a day?
Well three if you count Cheshire.
I dove underwater before anyone had a chance to see me.
Then I went back to Grover and ran out with him, like nothing happened to us at all.
After making sure he had his shoes on.
See, I can actually be smart.
For once.
"What the heck just happened?!" Wally yelled.
"I'll tell you what just happened, a freaking bunch of water just killed that thing!"
Those two should just kiss already.
"Perhaps the sea decided to assist us." Kaldur looked at me knowingly.
Well, I am lazy
And procrastination incarnate.
Instead of typing I was embroidering something for a friend
And then instead of that, I was playing a video game
And...
I need help picking a name for one of the kittens.
The two calicos are name Sphinx and Zephyr
(Mainly to annoy my mother. Although Zephyr will end up getting called Mustachio. She has like a little mustache."
But the other one is technically a calico cause it has like a little bit of orange in it.
It's mostly black and has a little bit of white over its one eye
And like on it's chin and belly.
So the names in the running are Yang and Strix
(Mainly cause I really want to name them all after Greek things.)
Anyway
See yah
