"Watch out!" I pushed Kaldur out of the way of an energy beam.

I threw a birdarang at the robot. Not that it will do much.

But it actually blew it up so...perks for poor design.

"Thank you." He stood. "We need to hurry. The others-"

"Might need our help? Yeah. I'd say."

The two of us snuck through the city. You know on the roofs.

We've been attacked by like six of those things.

I don't just think it's the dude Bruce said we're up against.

Cause reasons.

You guys mind helping us out?

No problem. I jumped down onto a robot before jumping off and throwing a birdarang.

That one blew up, while Megan threw one at another, and Connor kinda...broke one.

But there was one we missed...

"Watch out!" I yelled.

The beam fired, and Megan tried to dodge it.

But she couldn't. It hit her full force.

And it...

It...

Vaporized her.

"Megan!!" Connor yelled.

I stared, frozen. No.

No.

Not another one. Why?

Why do they keep dying?

Is it me? Or is it something else? Or is it me?

Kaldur wrapped an arm around me and pulled me away from the scene, into an alley.

"This is not how I wanted this mission to go...but we need to keep going. We cannot have let her die in vain."

I nodded. "We have to take whoever this guy is down. And keep anybody else from dying."

"Aqualad to Robin, meet up at Wayne Manor."

"What about me, Artemis, and Kid Flash?" Connor asked coming into the alleyway.

Kaldur paused for a second. "You three work at keeping civilians out of harm's way."

Connor nodded and ran back out.

"Did you get that Artemis?"

"Artemis?"

"Artemis, do you copy?"

He sighed. "Hopefully she's just out of range."

"And what about me?" I tilted my head. He needs to keep his mind in the game. Otherwise...things will go south.

He looked at me. "You should probably come with us."

Great. Just godsdamn great.

And no I didn't mean dam.

Okay just a little bit.

But still.

This is bad.

"This way." Kaldur lead me through Gotham towards the manor.

Weirdly enough, we didn't run into any bots.

Functional anyway.

"Bluejay, sweep the area for any remaining bots. If there are any around here, destroy them."

"Roger that Captain." I saluted before grappling away.

Now that he's away, the demigod can play.

But...this whole thing doesn't make sense to me.

I can remember everything including the trip here. But it just seems wrong.

So I did a complete sweep of the area.

And what I found...

"Artemis?" I knelt next to her and took her pulse.

She's...

She's...

She's alive!

I gently shook her. "Wakey wakey."

She groaned and sat up. "What happened?"

"Don't know. But...how about we get out of- Never mind."

A bot showed up. And this one is a lot bulkier than the other one.

Artemis struggled to notch an arrow. She must be hurt.

The robot raised an...arm?

Anyway, it slammed it towards Artemis.

"No!" I pushed her out of the way. Taking the hit in her place.

I was slammed backwards against a wall.

Artemis shot the arrow, which shorted out the bot.

"Bluejay! Hey stay with me!" She made it to my side pretty quickly.

I smiled slightly. "You're alright..."

My eyes started to shut.

"Stay awake." She ordered. "Kaldur. Bluejay is down. She got hit by a bot. She's not in very good shape."

"Kick some butt for me."

My eyes flickered close, and I breathed out one last time.

Earlier

"Wait. So this guy has managed to wipe your guys' memories and they didn't give you any advice at how to prevent it?" I raised an eyebrow.

"Well what would you suggest for  that? Tinfoil hats?"

"I don't know. Bats thinks it's a pretty good idea, based what I saw in his lair." I tapped my fingers. "So how are we going to beat him anyway?"

"We usually don't have a plan going into these things. Something usually ends up going wrong. Like blowing our cover wrong." Dick said looking over at me.

"KF I'm guessing?"

"Hey!"

"She's not wrong." Dick agreed with me.

See? I'm not always wrong.

I can be right.

"Approaching Drop Zone." Megan announced.

"Uh what?"

"If you were in the link you'd now." Okay seriously, why doesn't Artemis like me?

I mean my personality for Bluejay isn't the most likeable but still.

I sighed. "If you're gonna make such a big deal about this then fine. Bring me into the link."

I felt her mind brush against mine again. But this time I stripped away one of the barriers.

Okay I may be dating Kaldur and Dick may be my cousin, but I'm not letting them hear everything.

Which I'm pretty sure the others are doing as well, cause I'm not getting a lot of noise.

The Bioship stopped and Megan stood.

Ready.

We all stood and the seats disappeared, but hooks and relay lines dropped from the ceiling.

I can't get my head around the fact that this ship is a living thing.

I hooked it to my belt and watched as the others dropped through holes that opened in the floor.

Then I followed.

What are we gonna do?

Find Psimon.

No really? I rolled my eyes.

"I don't think that will be necessary."

The Team tensed up.

I simply watched as a cloaked figure approached us.

"After all, Psimon says..." He pulled down his hood.

And can I just say...it was weird. His brain is visible people.

"Dream."

Welp. I just ate an energy bar and I'm hyper.

And I'm sad cause ToysRUs is going out of business.

I got a Cyndaquil plushie though.
