I stared at the paper in my hands.
To Her Royal Highness, Princess Perseus Jackson, Daughter of the sea god, His Majesty King Poseidon.
Your immediate presence is requested by the king at his palace for undisclosed reasons.
He insists that you come and does not see fit to release any other details.
Faithfully yours
The royal scribe
Yeah.
This was on the doorstep this morning. It has my father's seal and everything.
If he wanted me to go down there, he could have just asked.
"What is it Percy?" Dick asked, trying to look at it.
I shook my head. "Nothing. Just...just a message from my family."
"What's it about?" Bruce questioned, still in his apron.
Which read...
World's most beautiful cook.
I'm guessing Dick got him that as a joke.
I frowned. "I have to go somewhere to talk to some people. So... I'll see you." I shoved the note in my pocket.
If he wants to complain about a sweatshirt and jeans...well that's his problem.
"This early?" Bruce raised his eyebrow.
I shrugged. "It basically says as soon as possible. It's best not to keep them waiting. Oh and don't try to follow me." Cause they'd die.
I strode out the door and headed down to the beach.
Looking around, I made sure nobody was around before diving into the water.
I quickly made my way to my father's palace, waving to a few merpeople on my way.
I was about to enter when I was stopped by a pair of crossed spears.
"State your business." One guard ordered.
Sighing I pulled out the note. "My dad sent for me."
They hurriedly removed their block. "Our apologies your Highness. Please enter."
I bit back a groan and swam through the entrance, making my way to the throne room.
I hoped to enter without any attention.
But that was ruined as I was stopped by another guard and a herald was waved forward.
"Her Royal Highness, Princess Perseus Jackson."
Why?
Then the guard released me and allowed me to enter.
Dad grinned as I did.
However my face remained passive as I knelt at his feet.
I heard him sigh. "Percy, you don't need to kneel. I am your father."
Slowly I stood, before kneeling to my step-mother.
Haha. Beat that Dad.
"Perseus..." Dad sighed impatiently. "Stand up."
I hesitated.
"Listen to your father." Amphitrite said.
Okay then...
I stood up again and looked at Dad.
He stood and walked over to me. "Are you doing okay?"
I nodded. "I'm good."
He frowned. "You watched all of the Seven except yourself die. I highly doubt that you are 'good'."
I looked away from him. "I'm-"
"Don't you dare lie to me."
Sighing I wrapped my arms around him, burying my face in his chest.
"I- I don't know. I don't know Dad."
"It's okay...sh. It's okay princess. I've got you." He mumbled, running his fingers through my hair.
I looked up at him, tears in my eyes.
Dad frowned, before leaning down and pressing a kiss to my forehead.
"Hey, you know you're safe here right princess?"
I nodded, slowly pulling away from him.
"That's my girl." He smiled and ruffled my hair.
"Now." He turned extremely serious. "We need to have a little conversation..."
Oh no.
I know where this is going.
"So...the weather's been really weird huh?" I forced a smile.
"You know that's not what I'm talking about." Dad placed a hand on my shoulder.
Schist.
"You haven't even known him for a week Percy." He said gently.
"I know." I mumbled, looking away from him.
My face slowly heated. He was watching us wasn't he?
Well that isn't embarrassing or anything.
"I just don't want you to get hurt." Dad said, slid his hand down gently grabbing my arm. "You've already dealt with enough."
"I'm pretty sure Kaldur is like the least likely person to hurt me Dad."
He smiled. "I know. I-"
"I'm going to go...before this becomes any more awkward." My step mom said before disappearing.
"As I was going to say, I understand that he would do everything to not hurt you. But if anything happened to him..." His grip on my arm tightened.
"I wasn't trying to get close. I was trying to keep everybody away." I looked up at him, meeting his eyes.
"I understand that Percy. But still, if he hurts you..."
This time the smile wasn't forced. I shook my head. "Okay Dad."
He chuckled. "I'm wondering though. How much could I scare him?"
I lightly punched him. "Don't you dare."
"Hey, I'm just wondering. Never said I would actually do anything. Yet."
Oh my gods.
"I gotta go Dad. Bruce is going to worry."
Dad pulled me against him and held me tightly.
"Mine."
Sighing, I lightly nuzzled his shirt. "Yeah. I'm yours. I don't think many people could replace you."
"Really I was going for the nobody could replace you aspect but I'll take it."
There was a good minute of silence, before he spoke again.
"Weren't you supposed to go do something today?"
Two things.
He was spying on me.
And two.
Schist.
I pulled away.
"Today's Saturday isn't it? Yeah. Gotta go meet up with the Team. And probably make some really fun decisions. Love you Dad. And stop spying on me."
I was about to vapor travel but Dad placed a hand on my shoulder, and I was suddenly in my uniform.
"Thanks." I smiled. "But seriously stop spying on me."
"I just want to make sure you're safe."
I sighed. "Well, at least stop having them call me Your Royal Highness or Your Highness or My Lady."
And with that I traveled away.
But not before I heard Dad's reply.
"Never."
