You slowly open the door into Ailish's room.

The curtains are closed and it's quite dark. The only beams of light shine through the curtains covering the windows that look into the waiting room.

Ailish is obviously asleep. She has an oxygen mask on, and she is on a life support machine. You see Danny sitting on the chair next to the bed, his mum's left hand securely sitting in his. He is staring at her, hopelessly. You didn't know what her condition was like.

You went over and sat in a chair that was next to Danny's. You place your hand on his arm and he looks at you. He takes his left arm and wraps it around you before he eventually hugs you. His long arms remain firmly around your waist. You sigh, burying your face into his shoulder. Your arms are wrapped around his neck.

You close your eyes. What Andi told you sticks in your head. Danny then whispers: "I'm glad you're here".

You nod before you whisper: "Don't worry, I'll always be here".

You and Danny break apart. He goes to kiss you but you stop him. "Not now" you tell him. He nods, biting his lip. He then continues to look at Ailish, both of you in silence.

You break the silence by asking: "How's her condition?".

"The doctors says she's in a stable condition just now. She's been drifting in and out of consciousness. They say there's a chance that it could get more serious" Danny explained. You sigh before you take his hand. He squeezes your hand as he entwines his fingers with yours. He kisses your hand before you both continue to look at Ailish.

She looked so peaceful.

That night you receive a phone call. You check the caller ID on your phone. It's Andi.

"Andi what is it?" You immediately become alert. Andi phoning at 1am wasn't a normal occurrence, something was wrong.

"Y/N wake Danny up. You both need to come to the hospital now". Andi's voice sounded quiet. You could tell she had been crying. You acknowledge this.

"I will. We'll be right there".

After you hang up and you and Danny get dressed, you both drive to the hospital in silence. The streets were silent too. When you both get there, you meet Danny's siblings in the waiting room. All of them in tears. Finally Danny's brother: Ian gets the strength to tell you what's wrong.

"Danny, Y/N.. It's mum. The doctors say she might not make it through the night" Ian stammered, sobbing. You and Danny begin to cry but you secretly feel relived. She is still alive.
