Gay Bomb conspiracy
Gay Bomb conspiracy
You're not going to believe this crazy idea, but it's true. The Air Force's secret unit entertained the idea of bombing enemy soldiers with a chemical weapon that would make them be sexually attracted to one another.
Who thought up this nutty idea? Well, it came out of the Wright Laboratory in 1984 as a proposal for a non-lethal weapon system. The idea originated out of adds for body spray that contained a human pheromone that could act as an aphrodisiac. This was based on tests using rhesus monkeys.
Another possible research project involved studies of a halitosis chemical bomb as a possible effect on human males. A flatulence bomb was also considered for this study. These bizarre ideas came out of a Swedish research project involving the effect of odors on heterosexual and homosexual men and woman. In this case they were studying how odors could cause sexual arousal in various subjects. What they found was that heterosexual subjects' brains reacted more favorably to the opposite sex's odors while the homosexual subjects' brains reacted more favorably to the same sex's odors. I wonder how much money was spent to do these experiments. In any event this study showed a possible connection between pheromones and sexual orientation. This was based on brain imaging studies involving air bourn odors on the right orbitofrontal cortex, the right fusiform cortex and the right hypothalamus.
In any event, leaked documents indicate that the idea of dropping strong aphrodisiacs from a plane on enemy troops in order to cause homosexual activity was actually considered. The other idea of a halitosis bomb was to make the enemy soldiers so smelly they could be easily detected.
Needless to say I laughed the whole time I was writing this. The idea is so ludicrous it would make a great South Park cartoon, with all of the farting references. I suppose that this shows that reality is much stranger than fiction.
Thanks for reading.
