Uglification, Sword Class, Beautification? What are these? CLASSES?! WHAT?!
I do not own the school for good and evil, Soman Chainani does
I only own things I create. If anything in this book is not made by my imagination, then I do not own whatever that may be. Good day.

Chapter 10:
Sophie's eyes opened, for a second she thought she was back home in her bed when she saw that she was lying in the creaky old bed with a musty pillow on it. She sat up slowly, her surroundings slowly becoming clear.
"Well look who decided to wake up." A voice said. Sophie looked up to see Hester scowling, leaning up against the door. Dot sat on her bed.
"We were afraid you would miss breakfast!" said Dot.
"We weren't worried, only you were," said Anadil.
"Well? You heard Dot, go get dressed in your uniform." Hester said to Sophie.
Sophie shuffled over to the closet next to her bed, went in and changed into her awful uniform, which hung on the inside of her closet.
While she was changing Hester and Anadil had left the room to head to breakfast, leaving Dot waiting for her, with a piece of chocolate.
As she and Dot walked to breakfast, by following some other Nevers, Dot chatted away, while Sophie thought about the night before.
So much had happened that day, she thought.
After the assembly, she had headed back to her dorm, where she and her other roommate found a note on the door, which was on every other door.
It stated:
"At 8:00 tomorrow breakfast will open. You have until 9 to finish and get ready for classes. At 9 sharp please head to your first class. You have 10 minutes to find your class and get settled. Each class will be at least an hour, including lunch. Surviving Fairy Tales will be as long as your instructor would like to keep you. Dinner starts at 6 and ends at 8. In your spare time, you may choose to do homework ( as suggested) or have free time. Later on, there will be electives that you will be updated more on later. The Blue Forest is not off limits but there are places you CAN NOT GO. Your Surviving Fairy Tales instructor will tell you where. THE ENDLESS WOODS ARE OFF LIMITS! You are not allowed to leave school grounds without permission. On Saturday your class time will be cut in half, and on Sunday there are no classes.
Thank you. Sincerely your Deans, Professor Dovey, and Lady Lesso."
That night Sophie found a black baggy nightgown in her closet, and miserably got into her miserable bed and slept.
And now, she was walking to breakfast.
As Sophie walked, she caught her reflection. Her green eyes were dull, and under her eyes were black bags from stress and not sleeping well. Her hair was in tangles, and she attempted to get some out using her hands. Her black uniform sagged as if it sensed Sophie's emotions.
What really caught her eye though was the black swan-like pin on over her heart. And it wasn't like a normal pin either. Sophie found that if you lifted your article of clothing forwards enough, the pin would disappear and appear over your heart on her skin. Pollux had explained that these pin-like swans represented that they in there heart were either good or evil. Evil had black shiny swans, while good got white. He had told them to not take them off, for that would result as a very fatal injury, and not tended to soon, would really be fatal.
Sophie had panicked at first.
Does this mean in my heart I'm evil? She had thought. Was I not supposed to be in Good after all? Don't be silly Sophie. You were probably sitting in a magical chair that gave you a Never's pin, right? Right?
Sophie entered the cafeteria, already full of students. A few stopped talking and stared at her as she walked past, wondering how she had possibly ended up in the school for evil.
She followed Dot to the line where students were getting food, but when she saw it, she felt like she was going to throw up.
It looked like it used to be decent food, put in a smoothie maker, burnt, and then put in the smoothie maker again, add in some strange stuff that makes it clumpy, and there you have it, your lumpy oatmeal! Do you want some burnt bacon with rotten eggs? We got it all here!
Sophie carefully picked out a vegetarian wrap, although there weren't many 'cause they don't think that Nevers are vegetarian.
She heard a whisper like, "Isn't she that girl from the assembly...?"
"See she's even a vegetarian! She probably hates eating animals because of her animal friends."
That's not why. Sophie thought to herself. Although animals are princess Sophie's, me, friends, I rather not eat them because they might make me fat, I try to get my protein from nuts and other things.
Sophie found a lonely table, a huge slab of stone, sitting in the dark musty corner, left abandon. When Sophie sat down, she could almost feel the table's sadness, and how it felt appreciated by the fact that Sophie sat on it.
What am I thinking? She thought.
She held the wrap gingerly and slowly took a bite into it. It didn't really taste as bad as Sophie had thought, it just tasted like a wrap with veggies in it.
It was probably the best thing they served, she thought.
Out of the corner of her eye, she saw Dot looking at her hesitantly, as if actually thinking about going to go sit down with her, but then decided to sit down with Hester and Anadil.
Sophie finished her so-called "breakfast" and walked back to her dorm since she had time to spare.
She sat on the bed, making a creaking sound under her weight. Sophie thought about Agatha's plan to get them home. She didn't get why Agatha wanted to go back. Most people there treated her like they treated her mother, who in fact wasn't treated the best. The only reason Agatha's mum had stayed, Sophie assumed, was because she was a doctor, and whoever she helped usually got better, including Sophie's mother. Sophie sighed. She did not want to think about her late mother at a time like this.
Sophie then decided she would go along with Agatha's plan, but not exactly. She would attempt to try to fit in with the Nevers, but at the same time prove that she was good, so that she could follow the destiny that Sophie of Woods Beyond always thought was her's. She thought dreamily: Maybe even meeting the prince!
The wolves howled, signalling that the 10 minutes to find class and get settled was in action. Sophie struggled to find her first class, Uglification, which sounded horrible. She thought the school should have at least given them a map. Soon though, she spotted Hester, Dot, and Anadil, which she knew had basically similar schedules as she did.
Sophie followed them from behind, a little far away so it wouldn't look creepy, and entered a room, which to say smelt more horrible than the rest of the castle.
"My name is Professor Manley!" The professor announced as he walked into the room. And let's just say he looked very old. He was bald with pale white skin and had many wrinkles. He had warts all over his face and had one of the cruellest smiles she had ever seen.
"Uglification... Can someone tell me why we do this?" Manley asked. Lots of Nevers raised their hands, which surprised Sophie, she didn't think they actually raised their hands to answer questions. "You," Manley said, pointing to a girl with the green skin.
"So we can look like evil?" She asked.
"Wrong, you." This time he pointed at Dot.
"To... eat.. chocolwete." Dot said, eating chocolate. "Wrong again, that's just ridiculous! You." This time he pointed at Hort.
"Uh, I forgot." He said sheepishly. Manley groaned.
"You." He pointed at Hester.
"To disguise ourselves." She said.
"Finally, someone that gives me a good answer! Sadly, you are half correct, we use Uglification to disguise, but there is one more reason, can anyone tell me?" Nobody raised their hands. Manley suddenly laid his eyes on Sophie, who indeed was trying to listen.
"Why doesn't our new Reader tell us hmmm? I would think that she would know, coming from a place that practically studies us all the time." Sophie looked up.
"M-me?" She asked nervously.
"Yes you, what is the answer?" Sophie looked around. All eyes were on her. She racked her brain, nothing. Sophie thought about how Gavaladon was. Usually, it was all about who the child's parent was, for example, Callis was not very liked so Agatha was put as a witch. But most of the time, when a child was supposedly "ugly", most younger children put those people as evil, until they realized it was all about the personality. But most of the time these kids were "ugly", or thought themselves as, so they wouldn't attempt to make themselves look "good". Sophie came to a conclusion.
"The reason we do Uglification is to... is that... Is that once students embrace the fact that they are ugly on the outside, they realize how ugly they are on the inside?" Saying that felt wrong on Sophie's tongue.
Professor Manley looked surprised for a moment, taken aback. "Well yes... I suppose you are correct." He mumbled something about 'just luck'. "Moving on, let's start without first lesson...." Sophie sat back in relief, as everybody else turned their eyes to the teacher, or whispered amongst themselves. She caught Hort showing her a thumbs up, and felt a glare on the back of her head. Hester was giving her a look, one that wasn't good. Sophie turned back around, trying to get Hester's face out of her head.
***
"C' mon Sophie, just put your face in." Sophie had decided to partner up with Hort, for they were the last ones left. Sophie had told Hort her name, out of politeness. What they were supposed to do was create a very simple potion, then put there face in it, which would "uglify" your face for 10-15 minutes. The professor had given them 40 minutes, to create the potion, uglify their face, then he would mark them at the end of class.
Sophie and Hort had followed the instructions to create the potion, which involved ingredients that Sophie would never want to talk about, and showed it to the professor. Manley told them to say (since they didn't know magic yet) "ti ka nah ma ug". After she and Hort said it and went on their merry way, Sophie didn't know why, but Professor Manley did give her a strange look.
Hort had put his face in the potion, which caused his face to wrinkle, and red spots danced across his face. He went up and showed professor Manley, who then studied him and sent him off.
Now, Hort was trying to get Sophie to do it in her potion, but Sophie just couldn't. She claimed to Hort that her instincts told her not to. Time passed, soon all the kids had uglified their faces, but Sophie hadn't. With one minute to go in class, professor Manley headed over to her. He said nothing but gave her a withering glare, Sophie gave in and dunked her face in.
She pulled out and felt the effects slowly working. It felt like an itch that spread across her face. She looked into the reflection of the wall. Warts had started to pop all over her face. She nearly gasped. But just as the potion had started to come into effect, wolves howled, causing professor Maxim to snap his fingers. Suddenly, her face turned back to normal, a number 1 appeared over Hester's head, a 2 over Anadil's, and so on. Dot got a 14 and Hort got a 15.
Suddenly, a number 20 appeared over Sophie's head, falling and crashing on her skull, making her wince.
Later, Dot explained to her that these were their marks, a number 1 the best and a number 20 the worst. She told her that these marks made up their score, which was put up on the multiple scoreboards around the schools. If you were in the top 15, you would be in the Trial by Tale, and if you were number 1, you would be the Class Captain for the end of the year, and the Class Captain for the rest of your time at SGE. She explained though, that if you got 20 three times in a row, you would fail. Dot didn't tell what would happen then.
Sophie looked at her schedule. It said, Special Talents, which was taught by professor Sheeba Sheeks.
Well, this class seems to sound okay. She thought.
Again, Sophie followed behind the three witches and found her next classroom.
The room was big, with one window on the side. The desks were pushed forward to the front of the room (so that the professor could teach well), which left a huge gap from the door to the desks.
As soon as everyone had sat down, their teacher came. Professor Sheeba Sheeks was dark-skinned and completely bald, and had beady eyes, with a loud voice.
"MY NAME IS professor Sheeba Sheeks." She announced. Striding into the room. "This is Special Talents. It's not only a place where you find what your good at so you can survive and actually get a fairy tale for it, but this is also a place where we prepare to defeat Good! Can anyone tell me what we need to defeat Good at?"
The girl with the green skin raised her hand. "You, what's your name?" Sheeks asked.
"Mona, and we need to defeat Good at The Circus Of Talents."
"YES." Sheeks shrieked. "Good has been at a winning streak for the past like 200 years! This also includes that at the Circus of Talents, they always win. I don't see why the schoolmaster chooses them, their talents are always not as good as ours. But singing a song seems to do the trick! In this class, I will teach you to find your hidden talent, and how to properly use it."
So most of the rest of the lesson was Sheeks lecturing them about Special Talents and previous student's talents.
After this, Sheeks asked people to demonstrate their Special Talent. Some students sheepishly said they hadn't found out yet.
Dot demonstrated her's by putting a finger to her desk, which then turned into chocolate.
So that's where all that chocolate came from! Sophie thought. Professor Sheeba Sheeks shook her head at the talent.
Anadil demonstrated by calling on three white rats, which Sophie had seen hiding under their master's bed, hissing at her. And she made them bigger.
Hort however, decided to show off his man-wolf. It was impressive for like 5 seconds, he had transformed, clothes ripping away at their seams, looking frightening. Then his wolf-man form began to shrink, and he dived behind a desk, pulling it down so it covered him. Hort's weasel face popped up.
"Ummm....." He said embarrassed. Sheeks sighed and snapped her fingers, which made Hort have clothes.
"This is preposterous! How are we going to defeat Good with these feeble talents? Doesn't anybody in this room knows what they're doing?" Hester slowly stood up and raised her hand. Sheeks looked at her expectantly.
Hester walked up to the front of the room, but not before she put her scowling face right in front of Sophie's, who was sitting safely at the side of the room.
"This will show you that I will not be bested by a little princess." She hissed at her. Sophie gulped.
"But.. but I haven't... I haven't bested you in anything, I'm not good at evil!" She whispered back.
Hester glared at her, and turned around and walked to the front of the room. That's when Sophie noticed, under her brown hair, the small demon tattoo on the back of Hester's neck. And she swore she saw it move.
***
"I can do this," Agatha said to herself. "I can do this... I can do this..... I CAN'T DO THIS!" She cried as she dove onto her bed head first, groaning into the pillows.
Agatha had sneaked to the breakfast and snagged some food. Pancakes, bacon, and other foods that she ate in a minute.
Although, she didn't get that much food, and was still hungry. She proposed later she would find a different alternative for getting food.
What? This girl likes her foods.
Since she still had time, and it looked like Good went easy on students the first week, she was trying to make herself go out there and go to classes, and execute her plan.
So far, she was failing miserably.
She had told herself that she should get there on time, not too late, that would cause attention, and not too early. She didn't want to seem like she was serious about staying at good by making a good "first impression" to the professors.
Agatha forced herself out of the bed and took a deep breath.
She walked towards the door, holding her slightly crumpled up the schedule, and stopped in front of it.
She smoothed down the front of her silly uniform (cause she found it silly), which she was glad wasn't fancy or over the top like some other girls had at the assembly.
One of the only things she admired about the so-called "princes", was the fact that they all had the same uniform, that wasn't too over the top. Why wouldn't the school have matching uniforms for the girls? Agatha was no fashion expert, not by a long, long shot, but she could tell that nothing matched. She wouldn't be surprised if Sophie came to tell her how dearly she wished to be over there, in Agatha's spot, but how darling, she would say, how can they not have clothes that match with each other!?
Agatha snickered. It would be funny if she somehow convinced Sophie to leave and go home based on Sophie's fashion sense and criticism.
Agatha took a deep breath. She put on a brave face and said to herself, go out there, try to befriend one or two students, and try oh please attempt to fit in!
I would've loved to tell you that she opened the door, and walked through the hallways gracefully and managed to make it to her first class...
But hey! This is a book written by me (now thinking, that doesn't really make a point but well... ). And do you really think Agatha would just walk out the door gracefully?
I didn't think so.
What my dear Readers what Agatha really did was open the door to see a bunch of girls, talking, gossiping, doing each others makeup, some still in PJs.
This is ridiculous! Agatha thought. Classes start in- She heard wolves howling signalling- 10 minutes! And they're still in pyjamas!?
But then she noticed something. All of the girls had already become friends. And I mean every single one of them. Agatha couldn't compete with that!
More reason she had to get out of here.
She slammed the door shut before anyone could see her. But, by doing this, she spotted a strange bump in the wall, beside her window, located in front of her desk.
The thought about going to class left her mind, as she walked over to the wall. She slowly ran her hand over it. Why would there be a bump in the wall? As she got to the centre, she heard something click. She paused, not knowing what was happening when the bump in the wall slowly backed up.
Agatha's eyes widened. I must've triggered a- CLICK! Suddenly Agatha felt a strange sensation. Wait. She felt this way when Ally-

- teleported her.
If Agatha had been teleporting any longer, she might've screamed (only a little). Thankfully, the person who designed this made sure the teleportation was quick enough.
When Agatha stopped teleporting, she found that she was actually on a balcony, which was on the side of the Good castle, and was surveilling directly at the Evil castle.
A sign was placed on the railings for Agatha to see.
Hello, there fellow Ever! (although if you're a Never, I would suggest leaving). I see you've found my secret balcony! During my time at SGE, I became very good at teleportation spells, and, once I discovered this balcony, I realized that this would be a great place to practice! I practiced teleporting all sorts of places! This included classes. I one day found out that by practicing my magic so much, the balcony now teleports anyone with magical potential anywhere in the school they want! So, I leave this to whoever found this. All you have to do is close your eyes, and whisper, where I wish to go, is a place called________. If you're not using the main entrance to get to the balcony, just say, cherish and love is the answer to baking bread, don't ask. I like bread. If you want to leave the balcony back to your dorm room, walk straight through the wall. No kidding. This is my gift to you.
- Rita of Nettle Forest, lover of bread, chocolate, and baskets. Oh. And red hoods. Lot's of red hoods.
Agatha blinked. Wasn't Rita....? But the thought left her, as she realized she.... well... had... Right? Yes. Had to get to... class.
Agatha slowly closed her eyes, not knowing if it would work or not. She whispered under her breath, "Where I wish to go, is a place called..... Beautification?" She opened one eye. But she wasn't where she wanted to be.
She was about to give up when she thought aloud, "Maybe it's not supposed to be a question?"
So, she tried again, and sure enough, Agatha teleported, which as Ally had said, didn't feel as... Weird as the times before.
Agatha then arrived promptly in the stupidest and idiotic class ever. No offence Prof. Anemone. But you can't argue with common sense, most of us readers, Ally, and Agatha.
Oh. And the author. I am pretty sure we have the final decision.
Oops. The fourth wall broke again. Better go help, and see if no one got injured. One time, imagination twisted an ankle... And let's just say... That was the worst writer's block ever.
.....Line break that the author decided to use.....
Why must I be in this school? Sophie thought as she took her sweet time getting to her next class. Not only is this school crazy, but my roommates are also... scary.
Sophie shook her head. Trying to get the moment out of her head. Things like that didn't happen to princesses. When they called on the forces of Good to help, it wasn't to harm anyone! It was probably just a trick of Hester's, to try to scare her off for whatever reason. Sophie finally conceded that she would try to convince her scary witch dorm mate that all she wanted to do was get out of the super stinky castle, and go to the fresh clean one.
This had all taken place in Special Talents when Hester revealed her "special talent", which was more or less probably the scariest things Sophie had ever seen. And that's saying something. Ever seen your best friend dress as a bride on Halloween? Or give you a dead frog on your birthday that represented the fact that we all die someday, and should cherish our birthdays every time we have one? It's actually not bad advice... But I don't think it's a birthday present. Just keep that in mind for the future hmmm?
Sophie shuddered. She didn't think she'd ever forgotten that memory.
It all started out when Hester got up to the front of the room when Professor Sheeba Sheeks announced loudly, "Would you look at that! Special Talents only has seven more minutes left! You since.. Uh... what's your name again?" The professor looked at Hester expectantly.
Hester rolled her eyes but making sure Sheeks didn't see. "It's Hester. Hester of Ravenbow." Sheeks frowned.
"Daughter of Gertrude?" Hester's eyes narrowed.
"...Yes." She said, gritting her teeth.
Sheeks then shook her head, and said, "Since we don't have much time, someone else will present with Hester, who hasn't shown me yet?" But under her breath, she whispered, "Nowadays, that witch would be scorned, I mean, eating children!? Now that's just low. I hope her daughter doesn't turn out that way."
A course of "Not Me's" went up, travelling across the room, and then promptly landing on Sophie. Sophie gulped.
"Not... Me?" Sophie than scolded herself. No princess lies! Not even if it's really really important. They only do in life-threatening situations. But, this one did come close to one...
Sheeba Sheeks sneered at Sophie, then sighed. "Come on girl! We really don't have all day. Unless, you don't have a talent, Reader?" Maybe it was the way she said Reader, or maybe because everyone else started whispering, or it might have been because Dot tried to show her a thumbs up chocolate, but then Anadil's rats snatched it from her. Whatever it was, Sophie knew deep down she did not want to make a fool of herself in front of the Evil students. As Sophie stood up and walked to the front, she realized with a pang that that was a selfish thought, because she realized she would do almost anything to make sure she wasn't embarrassed.
What is this school doing to me? I really hope Agatha isn't being tortured in what I would think is paradise.
Sophie made sure she was a good ways away from Hester because she started smiling creepily.
"All right then you two. We really don't have all day."
Hester closed her eyes, eyebrows drawn in concentration. Then, she started shaking, an extremely faint red glow appeared around her, and when it when away, something weird happened.
Pretty scary at the time too.
Her demon tattoo seemed to grow larger, and larger. Till Sophie's eyes grew wide in fear and amazement. But... mostly fear. The demon peeled off right off of her neck until it grew larger than Hester and floated above her. It seemed to smile eerily. Suddenly, a fireball flew from its mouth!
Sophie shrieked and jumped out of the way. The fireball flew right passed her and hit the already sort of burnt wall behind her.
Isn't anyone going to stop this demon-Hester thingy from attacking me?!?!
But Sophie then began to realize more, that the school for Evil looked after itself, as did the students and professors inside of it. They're probably too busy thinking about how stupid I look. Sophie thought miserably.
The demon shot a couple more fireballs, when Professor Sheeba Sheeks shrieked at her, "USE YOUR TALENT GIRL!!"
Sophie's eyes widened. Yes! She thought excitedly. This maniac of a teacher is right!
Sophie whistled loudly, thinking that a bunch of cute little and big animals would come to her aid since she thought she was a princess.
But... It didn't really work out that way. What actually happened was that a swarm of bats, ravens, and other "terrifying creatures", (at least, that's what Sophie thought about them.) came in through the window and into the classroom.
They started attacking the demon, and the demon howled in pain. It was pushed down farther and farther to the ground, growing smaller and smaller.
Sophie was in shock. She was frozen, her mind turned blank. But what snapped her out of it was when Hester crumpled to the ground, holding her head and moaning, like as if she was tied to the demon, and if the demon died, she might too.
Sophie's eyes widened in realization. "S-STOP!" She cried out weakly, but loud enough that the entire swarm did indeed stop. "L-Leave," Sophie said trying to muster up enough authority into her voice, pointing towards the window.
All the creatures that were flying turned their heads downwards in shame and flew in towards the window slowly.
When they were all gone, a silence filled the class. Pretty soon after, the silence was broken with the howling of the wolfs.
"Well..." Professor Sheeba Sheeks said, obviously concealing her amazement in her voice to some extent. "Well, well, well... Looks like our new Reader may, after all, be the thing that will get evil to win."
A red number 1 appeared above Sophie's head, and instead of crashing down on her as the number 20 had, it simply faded away slowly.
A number 2 appeared over Hester's head when she was still on the ground. Hester tried to get up but then slumped back to the ground. Dot put a hand out to help her, but Hester smacked it away, and got up and stood by herself.
She slowly turned shakingly and looked at Sophie. Sophie braced herself for the glare that would come her way, but instead, got a blank look. Hester's face was so pale, as she blankly looked at Sophie. Her eyes held a few questions, but she didn't say it.
Suddenly, the moment was gone, and Hester put a sneer on her face and turned around to walk out of the classroom. She avoided Dot's arm to lean on, but then reluctantly leaned on Anadil's shoulder.
Sophie walked out of the classroom, and shut the door, being the last person out. She watched some other students walk by her. They turned around and looked her over. But then, they shot looks at her, respectful looks at her. Sophie's eyes widened in a shock, and a feeling of dread filled her up.
What just happened?
And as Sophie walked away, she shoved away the small voice in the back of her mind, way back in her mind, that was telling her something that Sophie locked away with all her "bad thoughts."
But she was wrong. This thought was not a bad thought. It was an honest thought, one that held the truth that Sophie of Woods Beyond was not ready to accept.
The voice said this: When you stopped the animals from attacking Hester, you weren't thinking of doing it because you're a princess, you did it out of a feeling to help Hester, and undo your mistake.
Then, the final message was this, the one the Sophie did not want to here.
How often do you do that Sophie? It asked. How often do you really have the instinct to do something selfless? Or do you just to your acts of kindness out of wanting to become a princess?
Because if Sophie did indeed accept these thoughts, not only would she had been wrong about herself, but, what if it meant she was never supposed to become a princess at all? What if, she and Agatha were in the right schools after all?
***
Professor Anemone was one of those teachers that weren't pretty. She was beautiful.
Her frizzy blonde hair stuck up, kinda looking like an afro, but a more stylish one. She had a long face and a sharp jaw, with brown almond shaped eyes that shone, and she walked with utmost grace. To Agatha, she looked like an adult Sophie.
Well... If Sophie had brown eyes and was a mad scientist, then ya. That would be her.
"Hello, there class!" She said in a clear singsongy voice. "My name is Professor Emma Anemone, and I will be your teacher for Beautification!"
Agatha rolled her eyes. Oh no. She thought.
A short introduction later, which included various amounts of hand motions, some not even having anything to do with what she was actually talking about, Prof. Anemone started to say, "Now! Let us begin our first lesson in Beautification. See-" But soon she was cut off with a familiar, pop!
Everyone curiously looked over at the visitor, who was sitting cheerfully on the ledge on the wall. Ally grinned the light of the room reflecting off of her white swan pin, which was placed on top of a royal blue t-shirt. Ally was wearing black leggings, and her legs were swinging back and forth, like a gleeful child that she was.
Professor Anemone looked bewildered."Umm.. and who might you be, and why are you in my class?" She asked suspiciously. Ally sent an over-exaggerated look of being offended.
"Oh, why I'm just a student here at the school for Good, who doesn't have to obey the dress code and has free will to do basically anything I want to do. Which I won't be doing Professor Anemone, I'm not that cruel! Oh, and I'm here to remind you-you to have the attendance to complete." Professor Anemone blinked. Then came to her senses.
A/N honestly, I feel so sorry for every one of Ally's sass. I'm mean, that's what I'm going for, but I just don't want Ally to come off as a sassy sarcastic 12-year-old, she's more than that. Just wanted to let u know...
"Right," she muttered. "The attendence." She snapped her fingers, and a roll of parchment paper appeared in her hands. She coughed, to clear her voice that was though, already clear, and called out the first name. "Reena of Pasha dunes?"
"Here!" Came the voice of Reena. Agatha glanced her way and saw the face of one of the girls that came to "greet" her. Today, Reena's hair was in a ponytail, looking like an Arabic princess.
"Beatrix of Jaunt Jolie?"
"Here!"
Agatha turned slightly to the right of her, to see Beatrix, the girl who gave her the super nice welcome the day before, wearing a pink flower in her long blonde hair, matching a pink chiffon Japanese style uniform-dress with a white bow.
As soon as everyone else's name's were called out, Agatha relaxed in her seat, she didn't have to say her name.
"Agatha of Woods Beyond?" Agatha shot straight up.
Totally read that wrong.
"Agatha?" Professor Anemone repeated. "Is Agatha here?"
"Here," Agatha muttered. The professor still didn't hear her and moved to mark her absent. "I'm here!" Agatha said louder. Professor Anemone looked up in surprise. Something flashed through her eyes. Recognition? Curiousness? No that couldn't be it, Agatha thought as the professor frowned, and moved to magically make the attendance disappear.
"WAIT!" Ally cried out, jumping off the ledge. Professor Anemone looked sharply up.
"What is it now?" She asked irritably, nearly fed up with Ally's timed interruptions. Ally moved her hand in a circular motion, and the parchment paper shot away from the professor's hands, right into Ally's! Professor Anemone was speechless. "I-I... how? How do you use...? You haven't even....?" She stuttered.
"Anywho," Ally said. "It seems like my name isn't on here. Well, you can't blame an old man that hides in a Rapunzel-like tower, and then forgets to add the interestingly different student onto her first class's attendance." With that, Ally walked over to Professor Anemone, who looked very confused. Ally handed over the attendance and pointed near the bottom of the page. "There," she said. "That's my name."
Professor Anemone squinted, and said, "Ally Parkinson of..." Then she just looked completely confused. "Of... Earth? I've never heard of that before, is it one of the outer story lands?" Ally looked like she was holding back a smile.
Earth? Agatha thought. What's that? And what's an "outer storyland"?. Agatha felt as confused as Professor Anemone, as did every other student. Agatha leaned in closer to hear what came next.
"Well Professor," Ally said politely. "Earth is not an outer story land, and it is definitely not like, I don't know... Percy Jackson, or something." Professor Anemone seemed to frown when she heard Percy Jackson, as if she disapproved of it, whatever Percy Jackson was.
(DON'T OWN PERCY JACKSON OR ANYTHING ELSE BY RICK RIODRIAN)
"You see," Ally continued. "Earth is well... Really, really, really far away. I don't really think I'm qualified to tell you how far exactly." Professor Anemone sighed, and Agatha felt a pang of sympathy for her. This was not like any other first day of school that the professor has taught.
"You know what," said Professor Anemone, looking defeated. "Just go sit down, I think I understand well enough. Welcome to the school for good and evil Miss Parkinson. It's a pleasure to have you." Ally smiled softly, which surprised everyone. Agatha half expected her to make some sarcastic comment.
"Thank you, professor. I'm really really happy to be here." With that, Ally practically skipped to an empty desk that suddenly appeared out of nowhere. And you know where it was? Right next to Agatha.
Agatha put her face in her hands. Not only was she gone from home, attending a magical school that was apparently Good which Sophie should've been in, and her first class she was seated right next to some really strange magical human being that seemed to know everything! But, as Ally plopped herself down next to Agatha, a tired look of excitement and exhaustion spread across her features, Agatha felt a little bad thinking of Ally like that.
When the Professor started talking about what they were going to be doing, something about perfecting smiles, Agatha groaned, this was exactly what she expected. A bunch of girls learning how to make themselves look pretty.
What kind of school does that? Oh, that's right, a magical school for the Good.
Ally leaned over to her, and Agatha turned her head to meet her gaze. At that moment, Agatha was surprised to realize how much smaller Ally was compared to her. Agatha was 15, and this girl looked like she was under 13. She looked around the class, everyone else seemed mostly to be 14-16-year-olds.
How old is she anyway?
"If you're wondering how old I am," Ally said. "I'm 12." Agatha stared at her.
"You're a psychic now too? What else do you have, some strange ability to fly?" She grumbled.
Ally chuckled, making Agatha's face grow hot. Why is a 12-year-old making her feel embarrassed?
"Oh, I can fly." Agatha gave her a skeptical look. "What? It's true, look, I'll prove it to you someday, during lunch."
"No doubt you will," Agatha muttered, hiding her excitement, but quickly threw the emotion away. She couldn't get excited over something that wasn't necessarily true, besides she and Sophie would figure out a way to get out of school and back to Gavaldon, before Ally proved that she could do any more crazy abilities.
"You said you live on Earth?" She asked, changing the subject.
"Yeah," Ally replied.
"Where is that? Professor Anemone said something about the "outer story lands". What's that?"
"The outer story lands are lands that are still inside the Endless woods, but really far away, why do you think they called the woods Endless?" When Agatha still looked confused, Ally added, "The outer story lands are where other stories take place, I'm mean, you don't just think fairy tales are the only thing that happens around here?"
Agatha gave her a look of disbelief. "You're saying all stories take place in the Endless woods?" Ally shrugged.
"That's what I would think."
"Then how come I haven't heard about as many other stories besides fairy tales?" Agatha couldn't believe her ears. Was Ally saying that fairy tales weren't even the main stories out there? That there were as many other stories just waiting to happen?
"I don't really know!" Ally exclaimed. "There are sooo many stories you guys are missing out on. I could go on and on, but I'd probably end up boring to death.
"I guess they're just not as popular in these parts of the woods since basically, only fairy tale kingdoms are in this area." Ally continued.
"Have you been to any of these 'outer story lands'?" Agatha asked. Ally sighed, with a dreamy look on her face.
"A couple. If I was better at it, I would be visiting ALL my favourite stories, I could meet Harry Potter, Sophie Foster, OOO! Meeting Bethany Sanderson would be cool too, she could totally help me out!" The new information sent Agatha reeling. But then she frowned as she caught on to something that Ally had said.
"What do you mean, 'better at it'? What's 'it'?" Ally froze, her face turning blank.
"Uhh..." She muttered something incoherent. "Oh look at that! There's a class going on Agatha! Maybe we should listen to the teacher."
Ally turned her body so she was facing forwards. Agatha bit her tongue to stop herself from asking any more questions and reluctantly turned her body to face the professor. But, she couldn't help but mutter
"Don't see why we need to listen to a professor teaching us how to smile properly for 30 minutes."
Agatha wasn't sure, but later she swore out of the corner of her eye, she saw Ally smiling.
