The bed was moving. That was Celeste’s first thought when she woke up Saturday morning. She was pinned to the bed by an arm that was wrapped around her waist but, knew that it was Nate so didn’t think much about it. The shaking of the bed picked up again and Celeste slowly opened her eyes. Brooklyn was grinning down at her as she jumped up and down looking as if she was having the time of her life.
Celeste smiled up at Brooklyn as she continued to jump to her hearts content. Looking over her shoulder Nate was still peacefully asleep. Though Brooklyn was only two years old and still rather small, her jumping shook the whole bed. Celeste didn’t know how Nate could sleep through it. With Celeste even the slightest movement made by someone on her bed would wake her up. Nate must be used to Brooklyn doing such things in the morning and it no longer phased him.
“Mommy, mommy, mommy. . .” Brooklyn sang landing on Celeste’s legs.
“Cece,” she corrected
“Mommy” Brooklyn grinned
“Cece,” she tried again
“Mommy Cece,” Brooklyn giggled
Celeste sighed and pulled Brooklyn into her arms. It was not going to be easy getting Brook to go back to calling her Cece instead of mommy or mommy Cece. Giving Brooklyn a kiss on her cheek Celeste released the restless toddler. Brooklyn crawled off the bed and walked out of the room. Cece knew that she couldn’t just let her wonder around the suite alone and slowly wiggled herself out of Nate’s arms.
As she entered to sitting area Celeste spotted Brook at the table with Jay munching on some pancakes. She was surprised the Jay was even up as she glanced at the clock noting that it was just a little after eight in the morning. She and Nate hadn’t gone to bed till after midnight and she wasn’t sure what time Jay had came back.
“You seem lively this morning,” Celeste commented taking a seat at the table.
“Well unlike the other four I came back early,” Jay said “Can’t be nursing the remnants of a hangover during the competition tonight.”
“I suppose not” Celeste nodded
“Where is that sexy man beast that you have the luxury of calling your boyfriend?” he asked
“He’s still asleep and can you please stop with all the pet names.” she groaned
Celeste wondered why she couldn’t have normal friends. In the same thought she knew her answer. Her life wouldn’t be half as fun or interesting without her four best friends regardless of how insufferable they were at times.
“I’m surprised that the two of you don’t use pet names.” Jay said thoughtfully
“What’s wrong with me calling him Nate and him calling me Celeste?” she questioned
“There’s nothing wrong with it, a lot of couples just use each others names” Jay answered “I’m just surprised is all. I mean who wouldn’t want to give that fine piece of ass in there a pet name?”
“Obviously not you” Celeste grumbled “I’m just gonna go and. . .wake up Nate.”
“Don’t take too long now, I want to go explore the city.” Jay called out as Celeste walked back to her room mumbling under her breath.
“Why? It’s not like it’s the first time you’ve been to Phoenix” Celeste called back over her shoulder.
“Whatever, I wanna go shopping and you need to come with me.” he shouted in his no nonsense tone.
Back in the room Nate was sprawled out on the bed. His was laying on his stomach with his face buried in the pillows. Celeste stood back and admired his bare torso. His muscled back was a sight to see and Celeste wanted to get a view of the front. She was taken aback by her thoughts and wanted to back track out of the room. Celeste was never one to think that way about guys. She never cared when guys would strut around without their shirts on. Most of the time she was too busy doing her own thing to really notice what was going on around her.
Just when Celeste was ready to just let Nate wake up on his own and walk out of the room he flipped onto his back. Her breath caught in her throat at the sight of him. She wasn’t sure if it was just her or if the room had really gotten just a tab bit hotter. Nate’s body was sculpted to perfection. Broad shoulder that led down to a hard chest, his stomach flat and defined. Celeste wanted to run her fingers along the dips and ridges of his abs. His tapered waist and long lean legs.
“Like what you see?” Nate’s husky voice asked. Celeste’s eyes widened and snapped up to meet Nate’s amused glance.
“S-sorry. . .” Celeste mumbled turning away from him. “I just came to let you know that Jay ordered breakfast.”
“I’ll be out in a minute.” he said and Celeste nodded before booking it out the door.
Nate chuckled as he watched Celeste leave and close the door behind her. She was so innocent, it was cute. That was the first time that Nate had seen Celeste openly check him out. He had been up since she first walked into the room and waited for her to say something. Nate could feel her heavy gaze on his back and knew from the moment that she was staring at him. He couldn’t help himself and that’s why he had flipped onto his back. Nate had watched through barely cracked open eyes and had seen the appreciation on her face as her eyes wandered over his body.
Getting out of bed Nate grabbed a change of clothes and went to the bathroom. He changed his clothes and went through his morning routine before walking into the sitting area. Celeste was sitting there with Brooklyn and Jay at the table eating. Nate knew that she knew he was there but, she refused to meet his gaze. Nate took the seat directly across from her and helped himself to the breakfast spread that was laid out on the table.
Celeste couldn’t get the blush of being caught staring at Nate off her face. When he had walked into the sitting room she wouldn’t bring herself to meet his eyes. Celeste knew that’s why he had chosen to sit directly across from her. He was toying with her and she knew it. Celeste was surprised that Jay was yet to say a word and it was starting to worry her. Jay always had something to say so she didn’t know why he had chosen now off all times to keep quiet.
“So,” Jay started and then cleared his throat. “Celeste and I are going to go shopping today, you and Brooklyn should join us.”
“Sounds good to me.” Nate said “I’m gonna give Brooklyn a shower and get her ready.”
Celeste watched from under her lashes as Nate picked up Brook and led her back to the room.
“What is wrong with you?” Jay hissed
“N-nothing. . .”Celeste stammered
“Do you really think that I am going to believe that?” Jay scoffed “Spill it.”
“Nate caught me checking him out when I went to wake him up.” Celeste said
Jay laughed “That’s why you’re being all quiet and weird?”
“It was embarrassing,” she huffed
“There is nothing wrong with checking out your boyfriend.” Jay pointed out with a laugh. “I check mine out all the time.”
“You don’t even have a boyfriend” Celeste stated with a raised brow.
“Fine, when I have a boyfriend I check him out.” Jay corrected “You are way too innocent, that’s embarrassing.”
“I am not that innocent.” Celeste said
“Yeah you are, you’re all embarrassed about getting caught checking out your boyfriend. If that’s not innocent then I don’t know what is.” Jay sighed
Jay really wished that Celeste would open up a little more. Sure, she had changed since meeting Nate and that was awesome and all. But. . .he still thought that she could loosen up a little more. Who cares if he caught her staring It would be weird if she didn’t check him out, everyone else did. If Jay was in Celeste’s shoes he would’ve jumped that boy the first chance he got, but that was just him. Celeste never had been and never would be a girl like that.
Celeste stood from the table and walked back to her room. Nate was sitting on the bed trying to get Brooklyn dressed. The little girl was just not having it this morning, it seemed to Celeste that all Brook wanted to do was play. Deciding to put Nate out of his misery Celeste nudged him away and got Brooklyn dressed herself. It was surprising when Brook had actually stopped fidgeting and let Celeste dress her without a fuss.
“I sweat she only get’s that way with me. It takes me forever to get her dressed.” Nate huffed
“A little girl always has to give her daddy a hard time.” Celeste giggled “I remember when I was little I always did things to keep my dad on his toes.”
“Well, this little girl right here already knows how to keep me on my toes.” Nate chuckled “I don’t even want to think about what she’s going to put me through when she gets older.”
“She won’t be too bad,” Celeste smiled looking over her shoulder at Nate. “She only does this because she knows she can get away with it.”
“You sound just like my sister,” Nate grumbled
Nate knew that he would have to stop being such a big softy when it came to his daughter. If he didn’t start soon then she would walk all over him when she got older and he did not need that happening. He just couldn’t help it though. When Brooklyn looked up at him with those big green eyes he melted. At only two his daughter had already mastered the puppy dog look and Nate knew that one day that look would be the death of him.
Once they were all ready they all headed out. Hunter, the twins and Aaron were still passed out from their long night of partying. Celeste shook her head as they left their friends room and caught the elevator down to the lobby. She knew that the twin were going to have her ass when they wake up and find out that she had gone shopping without them. It was their own fault though, they were the one’s who wanted to go and stay out all night doing Lord knows what. That is why Celeste didn’t like partying all that much. When you party and get wasted you end up wasting the next day away trying to get over a hangover.
Instead of taking Nate’s truck the group set out on foot. Their hotel was smack dam in the middle of the best shopping area that Phoenix provided. Everything was in walking distance of the hotel and for the Celeste was grateful. Though it was still pretty early in the day Celeste knew that she would have to give this shopping trip a time limit. They couldn’t afford to be late for the second half of the competition. If that happened Brianne would never let them live it down and Celeste didn’t need her talking anymore then she already is.
Walking down the street Celeste took in the sights that she wasn’t accustomed to seeing at home. It felt good not being in their home town with so little to see or do. Though is only took roughly three hours to get to Phoenix, Celeste didn’t usually make the drive unless she absolutely had to (that was hardly ever). She couldn’t even remember the last time she had come to Phoenix. It had to be over a year ago and even then she wasn’t sure why she had made the drive. It was probably because of the twins. Those two loved to drive out to Phoenix and did it at least a few times a month.
A few blocks away the reach the mall and walked in. Celeste was relieved that the mall was not all the crowded. It was hard enough to shop with Jay around, Celeste wasn’t in the mood for a whole bunch of people shopping as well. For the next three hours Celeste was pulled from store to store by Jay. She felt bad for Nate and Brooklyn, they had never been on a shopping trip with Jay. Most of the time Celeste refused to go shopping with Jay even back home. Every single store that they went to Jay threw piles of clothes to Celeste and made her try them on. But, Celeste knew that this was better then shopping with the twins. If they were here she would take Nate and Brooklyn and run.
“I am not coming out in this” Celeste stated from the changing room that she was standing in. She didn’t know what the heck Jay put in his morning coffee but, there was no way in heaven or hell was she walking out of the changing room in scrap of material Jay called a dress.
“Either you come out or I’ll come in there and drag you out.” Jay warned
Celeste grumbled under her breath and stepped out of the dressing room. She knew that Jay would do just that and she didn’t want to be more embarrassed in front of Nate. Celeste kept tugging at the hem line of the dress hoping that it would magically become longer and wouldn’t look so bad. With her eyes cast to the floor Celeste walked over to where Jay, Nate and Brooklyn were sitting.
“Wow. . .” Jay whistled “I think I have finally outdone myself.”
“I’m gonna go take it off now.” Celeste said
“No, now do a little twirl.” Jay said. Celeste looked up and glared at Jay. He was enjoy her discomfort and doing this to her on purpose.
“I am not twirling for you, you’re lucky I even came out with this. . .thing on. I look like a freaking two cent hooker.” she huffed crossing her arms over her chest.
“Not a two cent hooker sweetie,” Jay cooed “A fifty cent hooker.”
Celeste gaped at her friend. “W-what? ” she nearly screamed
“I’m kidding ” Jay laughed “You look amazing in that dress.”
“He’s right, you look. . .wow” Nate breathed
Nate didn’t get why Celeste thought she looked like a hooker in the dress. It wasn’t even that short It was like a few inches above her knees and just below mid thigh. Okay so maybe it wasn’t something that she would normally wear but, she looked really go in it. Nate was had to pick up his jaw from the floor and wipe the bit of drool that had escaped from the side of his mouth when she walked out.
He really wished that she wouldn’t be so self conscious some times. Celeste definitely had an amazing body and she should be proud of that. Most girls would kill to have a body like she did. He would never force her to wear something she wasn’t comfortable wearing but, that didn’t stop the fact that he wished that maybe she would just step out of her comfort zone and little and try something a little different.
To Nate though it didn’t matter what she wore because to him she looked good in anything. She could walk around in rags and it wouldn’t bother him. He never cared what she wore but, thought that maybe she would want to try something different every once in a while. Though he knew that if she was to ever wear the dress that she was wearing right now out in public, he would have his hands full. He did not want other guys looking at her while she was looking like that. Nate would surly lose it if some guy made a comment and he knew that they would. She was his and no one would take her from him. ‘Whoa Possessive much?’ he thought to himself and banished the thought from his mind.
“There is some definitely wrong with the two of you.” Celeste grumbled and walked back to the dressing room. After changing into her regular clothes she walked back out and handed all the messed up clothing back to Jay before leaving the store. She would never go back into the store in this life time or the next.
With that disaster of a store behind them, they all went over to the food court from some lunch since Brooklyn was getting grumpy from being hungry. They all headed in the separate direction to get some food and met up at a table that Celeste and found after getting her sub from Subway. She had been craving a ham and cheese sandwich with, lettuce, olives, bacon, salt, pepper and vinegar. Celeste was obsessed with that sub and always got it when she was able to get her hands on it. Her homemade version did not do Subway justice at all.
After lunch and a few more hours of shopping they all headed back to the hotel. There was still a few more hours to wait until the next part of the competition started and Celeste and Jay were happy about that. In Celeste’s opinion Jay shouldn’t even complain about being out all day since it was his idea to go to the mall and go shopping. But, hey other then the piece of material that he had made her try on she had a pretty good time. She was even more excited about the gift that she had gotten for Brooklyn and couldn’t wait for the little cutie to wake up from her nap so that she could give it to her.
Celeste was bummed that Brooklyn hadn’t woke up until a little before she and Jay had to be down stairs to get ready for the competition. She and Jay had already placed their garment bags on the counter, waiting for them. The rest of the group had woken up a an hour or so after then had returned to the hotel and weren’t very happy that they had been left out of the shopping trip. Celeste wasn’t fazed by their whining since it was their own fault, no one forced them to get shit faced the night before knowing that Jay would want to do something the next day.
“Let’s go, we don’t have much time to check in and get ready.” Jay said poking his head into the room. “Why did you cut your hair if it been up in a pony tail since yesterday?”
“You cut your hair?” Nate asked stepping into the room.
“It’s nothing major, it’s only four inches.” Celeste sighed
“Why’d you cut it though?” Nate questioned. He loved her hair and couldn’t believe that she had cut it. How did he not notice something like that?
“I wanted to” she shrugged. Celeste didn’t know why they were making such a big deal out of it, it was just hair and would grow back quicker then she could blink.
“Can I see?” Nate asked. Celeste nodded and pulled the rubber band from her hair letting it tumble down her back. Nate ran his fingers through it and smiled at her. “I still love it.” he said and kissed her forehead.
“Me too,” Celeste smiled up at him.
“Okay, okay ya’ll can be all lovey-dovey and stuff later. Right now we’ve got a competition to get to.” Jay said grabbing Celeste by the hand and pulling her out of the room. On the way out the front door he picked up their garments bags and kept moving until they reached the room they were assigned to change in.
The both changed into first outfit for the night and just waited around till it was time fro them to go on. Celeste was glad that they hadn’t had any run-in’s with Brianne yet and knew that Jay was happy about that as well. Brianne had been an itch that she couldn’t scratch for as long as Celeste could remember and it drove her positively insane. That girl just didn’t know what to quit and Celeste knew that she never would.
As the time for the duo to head into the ball room came Celeste felt her nerves spike once again. This time it only had to do with the out fit she was wearing. It showed a lot more skin then the other two she had wore. Jay kept whispering over and over again that she looked fine and to get over it. They went through the routine flawlessly and left the stage. As every other competition they were only given the scores during the first day. That was the only thing that Celeste did not miss about competitions, having to wait to the last day to find out who won.
It was another half hour till their next dance and that one went just as smoothly as before. Now they had to wait again since they would find out who would be moving on to the final stage tomorrow night. Celeste stood next to Jay and gripped his hand in hers. She was pretty sure that Jay had lose all feeling in his hand a while ago from how hard she was squeezing it.
“Ease up, will you” Jay his attempting to free his hand from her grasp.
“I can’t help it,” Celeste whispered “What if we don’t make it till tomorrow? Brianne will just have more crap to talk and I so don’t not want to deal with it.”
“Our routines were perfect and we executed them flawlessly, now shush!” Jay whispered back. “They’re about to announce who made it through to tomorrow.”
“Okay people, the results are in” the Emcee announced “The three couples moving on to the final stage of the competition are: Brianne and Josh, Sherry and Jeremy and last but not least. . .Celeste and Jay!”
For a few moments Celeste stood there with her mouth open. They had actually made it to the final stage of the competition. That hadn’t happen to them, ever. Jay pulled Cece into a tight hug and whispered into her ear how happy he was. Celeste was still in shock and Jay had to pull her out of the ball room.
“We did,” she whispered “We actually did it.”
“Yes, we did!” Jay exclaimed with a grin “It was all thanks to you and your amazing choreography. Tomorrow we will definitely take it home!”
“Well wasn’t that a surprising turn of events.” Brianne sneered as she walked over to Jay and Celeste. “Don’t get too excited now because after tomorrow the both of you will be going home with your tails between your legs.”
“Seriously Brianne, get over yourself.” Jay hissed “If anyone is going to be going home tomorrow with their tail between their legs it’s going to be you.”
“Oh please,” she said “Everyone knows that Josh and I are going to win, we always do.”
“That’s because you need daddy to pay off judges in order to win. If it wasn’t for him you would win crap.” Celeste said
“What. Ever.” Brianne said before walking off to where Josh was waiting for her.
Shaking their heads Celeste and Jay headed for their changing room. When they were finished changing and putting their things away they left the room and headed for the lobby. Once again the group was waiting for them. Celeste chuckled softly as she took in the group standing around just as they had the night before. This time though none of them were preoccupied with their phones. The twins were the first to congratulate Jay and Celeste as they had the first night and couldn’t wait to see what happened during the last leg of the competition.
Everyone headed back up to Celeste and Jay’s room, content to stay in for the night. No one wanted a repeat of what happened that morning. One massive hangover was enough for the weekend. Celeste was once again reminded of why she never partied it up like her friends loved to do. Maybe one day she would want to let loose and party but, right now wasn’t that time.
Jay and Celeste went to their room and took a shower while everyone else settled themselves in the living room. Since it was still pretty early they planned to just have a relaxing night watching movies together. Dressed in a pair of cotton pajama short shorts and a tank Celeste walked back into the sitting room. She spied everyone else except for Brooklyn and back tracked to the room and saw the child’s sleeping figure on the bed tucked under the blankets. Celeste walked over and placed a soft kiss on Brooklyn’s hair before walking out of the room again.
The lights were turned off and previews was playing on the TV. Celeste didn’t know what genre of movie her friends had picked out and at the moment didn’t really care either way. She was tired and wanted nothing more then to cuddle up with her boyfriend for the remainder of the night. After tripping of Jay and stepping on Hunter Celeste finally made it over to the love seat that Nate was perched on.
Nate gave Celeste one of his heat stopping smiles and opened his arms to her. Nate’s smile widened when Celeste tucked her legs under her and snuggled up to him, allowing his arms to wrap securely around her body. He leaned down and pressed a kiss to her hair and inhaled the fruity scent that it held. Her hair smelled of cherries with a hint of almond and he absolutely loved it. As one of her arms wrapped around his waist Nate felt that strange felling in his chest again. He didn’t want to think about it tonight and pushed it to the back of his mind. This weekend was about Celeste and he didn’t want this strange feeling to get in the way.
“Are you okay?” Celeste whispered looking up at him. “You got tense all of a sudden.”
“I’m fine,” Nate assured her, even though he wasn’t really sure if he was.
“You sure?” she asked her brows furrowing in worry.
“Positive,” he nodded and gave a chaste kiss on the lips.
Celeste didn’t really believe him but, let it go nonetheless. If he said he was fine, then she guessed it was just something he didn’t really want to talk about right now and would get to it eventually. She wasn’t really the type to pry and she didn’t want to start now. Celeste didn’t want Nate thinking that she was the type of girl who wanted to know every little thing about everything. Leaning her head on his chest Celeste looked back at the TV and realized that whoever had chosen the movie had picked out a horror film. Those movies weren’t exactly the type that Celeste liked to watch and not even ten minutes into it she had her faced buried in Nate’s chest.
At some point Nate had pulled a throw blanket around them to ward off the chill that had settled in the room because of the AC. Nate’s hand rubbed up and down Celeste’s arm to help warm her up even more. Celeste felt a shiver pass through her as Nate’s hand traveled from her shoulder down to her fingers and back up again. Tons of different thought filled her mind as she concentrated on his hand and fingers. She wondered what they would feel like all over her body and flushed from the thought. Celeste was never one to think those kinds of thoughts and was no where ready to pursue them either. But, with his hand running the length of her arm she just couldn’t help it. Celeste tried to shut up off that part of her brain and closed her eyes. Before she knew it she fell asleep.
