Can You Say Cliche?

Okay all you crazy TSBBIAD fans here is the next chapter of the story! I know I took a while to post but, not as long as it's taking me to update my other stories which I am in the process of writing up...I would've put this chapter up earlier but, my freaking internet kept going out and now it's BACK ON!!! YAY!!!

***********************

“Again ” Celeste huffed as she and Jay worked through the numerous routines they had.

“You are going to kill us.” Jay huffed resting his palms against his knees. “We need to take a break.”

“We can’t afford to take a break,” Celeste said pausing her movements. “If we want to win we need to keep going.”

“If we keep going my feet will SERIOUSLY fall off.” Jay murmured

“Stop being a freaking baby, Jay, gosh.” Celeste grumbled “You’d think I’m running a sweat shop with the way you’re complaining.”

“Well you’re running me harder than a fucking sweat shop at the moment.” Jay complained sounding much like a tantrum throwing child.

“The competition is tomorrow and I just want everything to be perfect.” Celeste sighed leaning against the wall.

Celeste and Jay had been at it nonstop since she had returned from school. It was already nine and night and Celeste wanted to keep going. In less than twenty-four hours they would be in Phoenix, they didn’t have time to waste. Everything needed to be perfect.

Hunter was huddled in the corner with his fist tight against his mouth, holding off his laughter. He had been here everyday recording their practices since Nate was unable to take off of work for the rest of the week. So because of that Hunter was appointed by Nate to film the practices for him. It had been such a treat for him to do so. Being in the same room as Jay and Celeste these last few days had been quite entertaining. Hunter couldn’t wait to edit everything that had been filmed, he was going to make sure to include their squabbling in the final cut.

“Let’s just call it a night and we do a run through tomorrow.” Jay said straightening from his crouched position. “You’re staying home from school tomorrow, right?”

“Yeah,” Celeste nodded

Celeste really did not want to stop now but knew they had to. If they worked themselves over even more there would be no way they would be able to compete tomorrow. Sighing Celeste scrubbed her hands over her face. She needed to relax.

“I’ll be back in the morning. We’ll run through the routines and then drive to Phoenix.” Jay said walking over to Celeste and kissing her forehead. “Get some rest, we’ve got a long weekend ahead of us.”

“See you tomorrow, night.” Celeste called out to Jay as he headed back upstairs.

“This video is going to be awesome once it’s edited.” Hunter grinned

“Why are you still filming anyway?” Celeste asked confused.

She was pretty darn sure that they had enough footage for the project so she didn’t seen the need for Hunter to keep filming.

“We’re going to film you during the competition.” Hunter shrugged “When Nate and I edit all the footage we’re going to put the practice sessions and final performance together so everyone can see it from start to finish.”

“Whatever you say,” Celeste yawned

She hadn’t really realized how tired she was until that moment. Hunter followed her up to the living room where they parted ways. Once Hunter had left Celeste went up to room. She wanted to have a soak in the tub to ease away the tense muscles from all the practicing she had been doing for the past two weeks.

“Perfect,” Celeste sighed as she lowered her body into the water.

Leaning her head against the edge of the tub Celeste closed her eyes. The heat of the water worked it’s way through all of Celeste’s tense muscles. She was sure that a massage was in order after the competition or maybe when they got to Phoenix tomorrow. Closing her eyes Celeste let the warm (well slightly hot) water ease away any left over tension. Letting the smell of the bath oils she had put in the water relax her mind and body.

Laying there in the bath Celeste though about the up and coming weekend. Tomorrow at around lunch she would be on her way to Phoenix for the first dance competition she’s been in, in a while. Oh how she prayed that she and Jay would place. In the last few competition they had been in the other couples were unbelievable beating them by a mile. She hoped that their new routines would blow the judges away.

Though Celeste and Jay never competed for the sake of winning it would be nice to at least place. Celeste never cared much for winning since she was doing something she loved. But, it would feel good to win at least once in her life and she knew that Jay felt the same.

The temperature of the water cool significantly letting Celeste know that it was time to get out of the bath. Letting the water drain Celeste stepped out of the tub and wrapped herself in a big fluffy towel. After drying off and rubbing a layer of lotion into her skin, Celeste put on a pair of pajamas. It had been a long and tiring day so, by the time Celeste’s head hit the pillow she was out like a light.

Aaron had come home before midnight and walked to check on his little sister. Quietly opening her bedroom door he leaned against the frame and watched as she slept. Walking over to Celeste’s bed, Aaron sat next to her, brushing her hair back from her face. Closing his eyes Aaron thought back to a time when her face was clear of any lines of pain or worry other then when she was sleeping. It had been so long since he had seen her truly happy.

He didn’t want to admit it but, Aaron knew the reason for her happiness. The reason being Nate Anderson, the towns resident bad boy and trouble maker. Aaron knew that in some ways Celeste was happy before Nate had walked into her life but, this was different. The way she was happy now was a way that not even himself could have accomplished. Aaron hated to say but, Nate had done a damn good job at bringing his sister back. One day he knew that he would have to thank Nate for that as long as the kid didn’t screw it up.

Placing a soft kiss on Celeste forehead, Aaron stood from the bed and walked to his room. Tomorrow was the start of their long weekend and Aaron couldn’t wait for it to start. It had been a long time since he had some time to do something other then work. Aaron was going to make sure that he made the best of this weekend because who knows when he’ll have time off like this again.

****************

“I have a feeling that we are going to knock the judges socks off,” Jay grinned

He and Celeste had just finished going through all of the routines that they would be doing this weekend. Jay knew without a doubt that they would blow away the competition this time around.

“I have a feeling you’re right.” Celeste replied with a matching grin.

“You got a few visitors.” Aaron called down from the top of the stairs.

“GOOD MORNING MY BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE ” Nina shouted happily seconds later.

Celeste and Jay leaned against the wall and waited for Nina to come down. It would be long since they could already hear her bounding down the steps. Not ten seconds later Nina came skidding to a stop a few feet away.

“Do I not get a good morning?” Nina questioned with her hands fisted on her hips.

Celeste thought that she was just a little to chipper this morning and wondered what the hell the girl and slipped into her morning coffee. Wasn’t she supposed to be in school as well?

“Good morning,” Celeste smiled “What did you slip into your coffee this morning? It wasn’t rock star, was it?” she asked worriedly

There was no way Celeste would be able to handle another one of Nina’s rock star episodes so soon after the last.

“Haha, very funny,” Nina muttered dryly “No I did not put any rock star in my coffee this morning nor did I drink any. Can a girl not be happy for two of her best friends? You guys are finally doing another competition - which I have been waiting for I might add - and I am just so damn excited ”

“You think maybe Maddie slipped her some?” Jay asked

“I don’t know, maybe,” Celeste nodded

“I’m standing right here, bitches.” Nina huffed “You both just seriously bummed my trip.”

“Don’t worry sis, it’ll be back soon enough.” Maddie said as she walked into the room. “And no I did not slip this ball of hyper activity any form of a pick up besides her morning coffee; which we all know she cannot live without.”

“I am in no way, shape or form involved with it either ” Hunter called out as he descended the stairs. “She was like this when I pick these two up.” he said pointing to the twins.

“You’re all assholes.” Nina grumbled and she turned toward the stairs. “Aaron, they’re making trouble to me again ” she shouted as she trudged up the stairs.

Aaron’s laughter floated down to the rest of them causing them to let out a round of laughter.

“So what are you all doing here?” Celeste asked

“Did you think that we were going to drive out after school?” Maddie asked with a raised eyebrow. “Hell to the no  We’re all driving out with you and spending the day pampering ourselves before the competition starts tonight.”

“I can honestly say that I am just as excited as Nina was but, I happen to know how to contain myself.” Hunter said

“No you don’t,” Maddie said with furrowed eyebrows. “You just got it all out on the way here so you wouldn’t look like a complete fool in front of everyone.”

“Thank you so very much for pointing out that little tid-bit.” Hunter grumbled.

Leave it to one of the twins to completely rat your ass out. Hunter swore he must be certifiably insane to be friends with this bunch. Anyone would have to be insane to be friends with the freaking terror twins.

“Okay then,” Celeste giggled “I just have to go put my bags in the car, take a shower and we can go.”

“I’ll take your bags while the two of get a shower.” Hunter said

“Thanks Hunt.” Celeste smiled “I would give you a hug but, I’m all sweaty.”

“Not like I would give the same consideration to you but, thanks anyway.” Hunter chuckled walking back up the stairs.

Hunter pulled out his phone to text Nate while Jay went to one of the spare showers and Maddie and Celeste went to her room. Maddie was probably going to pick out Celeste’s outfit. Hunter’s phone dropped to the ground when he rounded into the kitchen and took in the sight before him. Since he hadn’t fully stepped into the kitchen his phone fell on to the carpeted floor with a dull thud. The sound was barely audible considering the two people in front of him hadn’t broken apart.

Hunter was dumbfounded. He was pretty sure his brain had stopped any sort of function. His mouth was open in shock as he watched Nina making out with none other than Aaron Taylor. What the hell was going on? When the hell had that happened? Hunter cleared his throat and the couple sprang apart. Nina looked over at him with wide eyes, her hand covering her open mouth. Aaron fidgeted nervously like a freaking teenager getting caught by his girlfriends parents.

“Um, so,” Hunter started but stopped unsure of what to say in this particular situation.

Hunter blew out a breath and ran his fingers through his hair. No one said a thing for a few minutes.

“You two are in deep shit.” Hunter said voicing the first thing that came to mind.

He didn’t know what else to say. His brain still wasn’t functioning right just yet. What was he supposed to say anyway? Congratulations? Yeah, because that was such a perfect thing to say right now.

“Please, don’t say anything.” Nina begged

That one little sentence jolted Hunter’s brain back into action.

“You don’t want me to tell our best friend that I just caught you making out with her older brother?” Hunter asked just to clarify what he was damn sure he heard wrong.

“I’m...I’m just gonna go load the car.” Aaron said trying to sneak his way past Hunter.

“Uh-uh,” Hunter said blocking the way out of the kitchen. “The two of you have some major explaining to do. For starters you can start by telling me when the hell this started.”

“Can we not have this conversation right now.” Nina said taking a seat at the table.

“Uh let me think about that,” Hunter said tapping his finger against his chin. “No. Now you can either tell me now or I’ll go and Cece what I just witnessed.”

“No, no, no please Hunt, please don’t.” Nina cried “It’s new alright, like a little over a week kind of new.”

“And neither of you thought it would be a good idea to let Cece know?” Hunter questioned.

His gaze jumping from Nina to Aaron and back again. Were they freaking crazy?

“It’s just...just...” Nina tried unsuccessfully to give a reason.

“We didn’t know what to tell her.” Aaron said finishing off what Nina was attempting to say.

“How about oh, I don’t know...the fucking truth.” Hunter exclaimed “Seriously  Do you have any idea how she’s going to react to this? Her competition starts tonight and once she finds out, she is going to flip a fucking lid. You know how she get’s when she flips out and it just going to mess with her head and in turn her dancing.”

“That’s why you aren’t going to say shit.” Aaron hissed

He didn’t want his sister to find out like this. Aaron knew that it would mess any chance of them winning if she found out from Hunter. He knew that he should have said something to Celeste but, he just hadn’t found the right time to do it and right now was most definitely not the right time.

“Look, I’ll tell MY sister when the time is right,” Aaron said “We all know that right now isn’t that time and I don’t want it to interfere with the competition.”

“I get that she’s your sister and you want to wait for the whole ‘right time’ bullshit but, she’s my best friend, your best friend,” Hunter said looking over at Nina. “This is not the kind of shit that you hide from her, especially her. Hasn’t she gone through enough? Going around behind her back and hiding shit from her isn’t going to make it any better. I suggest you figure out how you’re going to tell her because you need to do before we leave. If you keep this to yourselves any longer it’s just going to make it worse when you finally do plan on telling her.” Hunter turned around to go and grab the bag sitting in the living room, looking over his shoulder he said. “Either the two of you tell her or I will.”

Aaron and Nina watched Hunter pick up the bags and walk our of the house. Neither of them spoke. They were both lost in their own thoughts. Nina felt like the worst best friend in the world. Not only was she hiding something from Celeste, she was doing it with her brother. How low could she possibly get? They always told each other everything! For the first time in her life Nina had no idea what to do.

Without even realizing it Aaron was thinking along the same lines as Nina. He was fooling around with his sister’s best friend behind her back. Not once had he really thought of tell Cece what was going on. Half the time he wasn’t even sure himself. Aaron didn’t plan on getting with Nina as cliche as it may sound it literally just happened. He didn’t know how it happened, it just did. Aaron hadn’t been this happy in a long time. He hadn’t had this type of a connection with anyone since before his parents died. Was is so wrong that he wanted to be happy and it just so happened that Nina made him happy. Nina of all people who would’ve thought?

“We should just tell her,” Nina whispered

“I know,” Aaron agreed with a sigh.

“You guys alright?” Celeste asked stepping into the kitchen.

Nina jumped a bit in her seat at the sound of Celeste’s voice. Even Aaron started a bit which Celeste thought was strange. Both Nina and Aaron knew they had to tell Celeste but, neither of them thought they would have to do it seconds after they had decided to.

“We need to talk.” Aaron said looking up at his little sister.

How the hell was he going to tell her that he was in a relationship with one of her best friends? Her craziest best friend (aside from Jay) to be exact.

“Okay, but, make it quick cause we have to get going.” Celeste said sitting at the table.

“There’s something we need to tell you,” Nina said softly

Celeste was already contemplating what they had to say. Nina had never been shy when it came to talking to anyone and right now that exactly how she seemed; shy. Celeste furrowed her eyebrows seriously wondering if aliens had abducted her best friend and replaced her with a clone because this was definitely not the Nina she was used to. Could aliens really have replaced her friend so quickly? She had just spoken to Nina no more than twenty minutes ago. Maybe all this stuff with the competition had finally caught up with her because surly Celeste had gone crazy thinking about aliens and at that crap.

“What’s going on?” Celeste asked looking between her brother and best friend.

“Um, well...uh,” Nina stammered

“As of a week ago we started seeing each other.” Aaron blurted deciding to just get it out in the open.

The reaction he got was not one that he was expecting. His sister laughed. Not a little laugh but, the type of laugh where she almost fell off her chair laughing.

“That is so funny, now seriously what’s going on?” Celeste asked getting her laughter under control.

“I’m serious.” Aaron said

Celeste looked at her brother who looked completely serious. Then she looked at Nina who sat there looking guilty. Celeste’s jaw dropped as her eyes went back and forth between them.

“Um...well...that is definitely...interesting.” Celeste said finding her voice.

“I am so sorry I didn’t tell you Ce,” Nina said rushing over to her best friend. “I just didn’t know how to tell you and I didn’t want you to hate me.”

“Why would I hate you?” Celeste asked confused

“Because he’s your brother,” Nina pointed out

“How about we worry about getting to Phoenix and we’ll talk about this later.” Celeste suggested

She needed some time to think and the drive to Phoenix would provide the perfect opportunity to do so. This bit of information that she had just received was something she would had have to think long and hard about. During the three hour drive would be the only time she would allow herself to think about it. Celeste couldn’t afford to have her mind reeling with the thoughts of her best friend and brother during the competition. Blowing out a breath Celeste stood from the table and walked out.

Walking out the front door and meeting up with Jay and Maddie, Celeste tried her hardest to wrap her head around everything. It wasn’t so much that she was mad about the fact that they were together. It was more along the lines of being a bit upset because they hadn’t bothered to tell her until now. Sure, it had only been going on a week and Celeste would have been super pissed if they had waited longer to tell her but, that wasn’t the point.

Looking over at Hunter Celeste could tell that he was upset about something. Celeste walked over to him and placed a hand on his shoulder, turning him to face her.

“You okay?” Celeste asked

“You know.” Hunter stated.

Celeste didn’t have to asked him what he was talking about because she knew it had to do with Aaron and Nina.

Celeste nodded “Yeah, I know. But, how did you know?” she asked looking up at him.

“I walked in on them making out in the kitchen.” Hunter said looking off down the street. “I told them that they needed to tell you before we left or I was going to tell you myself.”

“I was wondering what made them tell me today of all days.” Celeste commented

In that moment Celeste knew that if it wasn’t for Hunter walking in on then they probably wouldn’t have told her any time soon. Celeste knew she should be mad, she wanted to be mad. But, she just couldn’t.

“Right now I have more important things to worry about besides my brothers love life like, the competition that I plan on kicking ass in.” Celeste said

“You will definitely kick ass. If the judges don’t give you both good scores than they will have to be blind.” Hunter smiled wrapping his arms around Celeste’s shoulders. “Now, I don’t want you to freak out but,”

“Oh, no, please don’t tell me you slept with Jessica or something like that.” Celeste groaned

“What?! No!” Hunter shouted looking mortified “What the hell Ce?”

“Well I don’t know! I already found out some pretty surprising shit today so why not add to it!” Celeste exclaimed

“Oh my god, I was just going to tell you to take a freaking look.” Hunter said gesturing to a truck that had just pulled up in from of Celeste’s house.

Celeste looked over and a huge smile adorned her face. Nate was standing there leaning against his truck with a smile on his face to match hers. Celeste ran over to him and jumped into his arms.

“I thought you had to work this weekend.” Celeste said

“I busted my ass in the shop all week so my dad would let me off for this weekend. You actually think I would miss out on your competition?” Nate asked with a grin.

“Well, I know how important working at the shop is for you.” Celeste shrugged

“And I know how important this competition is for you. I wouldn’t miss it for the world,” Nate said stepping away from Celeste and walking toward the back door of the truck. “Neither would she.” he said opening the back door to reveal Brooklyn.

“Cece!” Brook screamed reaching out to Celeste.

“Yay!” Celeste squealed giving Nate a quick kiss and climbing into the back on the truck to unbuckle Brooklyn from her seat.

Celeste climbed out of the truck with Brooklyn tucked in her arms and grinned up at Nate.

“So where are all your bags?” Nate asked wrapping his arms around his two favorite girls.

“Hunter put them in my car.” Celeste replied

“Well, I’m going to go get them and put them in the back of my truck.” Nate said releasing them from his grasp and walking over to Celeste’s car.

Celeste bit her lip to keep from grinning anymore than she already had in the last few minutes. Instead of watching Nate retrieve her bags Celeste turned her attention back to the little girl in her arms. Just by having Nate and Brook there with her was enough to make her forget about what was going on for a moment.

“When did that happen?” Nate asked as he walked back over and placed Celeste’s bags in the bed of his truck and putting her purse on the passenger seat.

Celeste looked up at him confused until she followed his gaze to Nina and Aaron who had walked out of the house hand-in-hand.

“Apparently it happened a week ago.” Celeste said as she watched them walk over to Aaron’s car. “I just found out not to long before you got here. I had Hunter to thank because if he wasn’t for him walking in on those two earlier I highly doubt they would’ve told me about their relationship any time soon.”

“That’s just weird.” Nate commented “It’s like Hunter and Jess all over again.”

“Yeah, well at least Hunter wasn’t sneaking behind your back with her.” Celeste pointed out.

“That’s true,” Nate nodded “Are you upset with it?” he asked

Nate knew what it was like to be in Celeste’s shoes. Well almost anyway. He didn’t have to deal with a hidden relationship when it came to his best friend and sister. Nate would have been a hell of a lot more pissed about it if that was the fact. It would only be natural for Celeste to be mad about it.

“Honestly, I’m not upset about them being together. Just that they didn’t tell me.” Celeste answered with a shrug “You know what I just realized though?”

“What’s that?” Nate asked

“My life is turning into a freaking cliche book or movie. First, Hunter falls for his best friends sister. Now, it’s my brother and best friend. Can you say Cliche?”
