Chapter 4

"Ace, I'm here. Sorry, I'm late." Ryan exclaimed as he ran in Ace's direction, panting in exhaustion because he had run from the restaurant where he and Cyro had lunch into the entrance of Central Park, New York, realizing that he was late for the meeting with Ace when Cyro pointed it out.

"It's fine. Anyways, say hi to some of my old teammates from Special Team 6 of the Navy SEALS." Ryan gave a polite and kind smile to some of Ace's old teammates and they nodded back, smiling back at Ryan. Ace then pulled Ryan to meet another group who are discussing among the remaining members of Special Team 6 and themselves regarding the weapons that were going to be used for the mission. Ace gathered their attention and brought Ryan forward.

"Hey, guys. Meet Ryan, my childhood friend. He's a detective in the Investigation and Liaison team of the FBI and a member of the detective team of the guild Varina." The group of people waved at Ryan with big smiles and Ryan waved back, smiling. Ace then told Ryan who they were.

"Ryan, they are my guild members and each of them with the green badge and golden patterns is the leader of each Vectors. I am the head of the guild leaders of the guild Akaurunos and the guild leader of Vectors 1 to 4. There are about 20 Vectors in Akaurunos but each of the Vector groups is different. Vectors 1 to 4 are the strike team and that's where we get the best weaponry and the best tech equipment but not as much as the tech vectors though we borrow some of their techs sometimes." Ryan laughed at that and Ace chuckled, glad that Ryan think that was funny.

"I also noticed you saw my other two old teammates from Special Team 6. Alison Nishimoto and Brandon Gan are the weaponry and tech experts in Special Team 6 but there were more tech experts than those two but....." Ace lowered his head in sadness and respect. "They had all sacrificed to keep the Special Team 6 running so now it had been reduced to those two. The death of the others had hit them hard that's why they placed all their efforts into their work until a few years after that year when they decided that they would not let their teammates' death affects their future and feelings so they decided to smile all the time." Ryan stood in respect for those teammates of Ace that had died and Ace muttered a soft thank you. A few minutes later, Ace and Ryan could hear someone calling them from a distance and saw a tall dirty blonde haired man with a folder in his hands and a shorter woman whose red hair was tied in braids run towards them.

"Ace, glad you called me. After all, I manage to get the required files for you. Oh, who's this?" The man asked and the woman glanced at Ryan before muttering.

"I heard Ace mentioned you before but what is the name again... Bryson? Bryon? Oh, wait......Ryan! Ah, that's the name! You're Ryan, right?" Ryan nodded before glancing back at the woman.

"Erm, who are you?" The woman flushed with embarrassment and muttered an apology.

"Oh sorry. I forgot to introduce myself. I'm Amelia Reid, senior investigator in Interpol, USA, and the man over there who was running with me is Spencer McCall, senior investigator in the CIA. We are both mages but Spencer is a necromancer mage whereas I am a combat mage with an affinity to water and wind, a rather useful and quite deadly combination. A-Anyways, we both are retired members of Special Team 6 and Ace was our leader during that time." Amelia mentioned with her hands and Ryan nodded, smiling at both kindly.

"Well, nice to meet you both. Apparently, someone didn't mention you both to me in his last letter." Ryan glared at Ace and Ace sighed, an apology streaming out his mouth.

"Sorry. I was busy with guild stuff. Also, I have an adoptive parent and would like you to meet him someday." Ryan stared at Ace, his mouth wide.

"W-Wha? Y'know that means we're dating right?" Ace blushed furiously at the thought and shook his head no.

"Of course not! I'm introducing you as a friend for god's sake!" Ryan chuckled good-naturally while Ace glared at him, face even redder than a tomato.

"Anyways, Ryan, half of the Special Team 6 are retired. Spencer, Amelia, Celine, Bryson, and Miles are retired whereas the others are still members of Special Team 6. The new Special Team 6 have more than 20 members and well, most of them are mages and witches, some are vampires and werewolves, and mermaids but the rest of them are faes." The mentioned people nodded at what Ace had explained and Ryan nodded, understanding what Ace meant. Ace nodded at Ryan and sighed as he glanced at the folder in Spencer's hand.

"Spencer, can you walk us through the information you found?" Spencer nodded and began to explain. Ace's and Ryan's expressions began to tighten into horror as Spencer told them how many people had the Sceptre killed although it's been sealed.

"And to unlock the seal that holds the scepter, you have to key in the right combination, and I know the fact that you know the code, Ryan, since you are the one who is guarding the scepter." Ryan nodded as he stared at the picture of the area.

"That means you must give the code written on a slip of paper to Ace secretly and unnoticeably. Then Ace will key in the code and everyone except Ryan get the hell out of there before the security sees us." Ryan nodded but frowned.

"What happens if we or I fail?" Spencer glanced at Ryan with a severe look.

"We'll all be locked in prison." Ryan shivered at the thought but nodded, hinting to Spencer that he knew the seriousness of the mission.

"I hope everyone will be able to do their parts well. Let's go through the plan with the others then call that a day." Ace said and everyone nodded, running towards the others and explaining the plan. Everyone nodded and went back home, preparing for a battle that they were not that prepared for.
