Chapter 6

Draco's POV

I could see Harry drifting off to sleep, but I didn't want to leave his side, not yet at least.

He seemed to be at peace for the time being when his eyes finally shut on him.

I glanced at the food on his plate.

He only ate a nibble off it. He didn't eat dinner last night and today he still hasn't eaten anything. It's not good for him. Is he starving himself?

Blaise walked into the room, when seeing me he came over.

"I'm worried, Blaise." I said, turning to him.

"I know. I am too."

"No, like. I think he's been suffering way longer than just yesterday." My voice quivered slightly.

Blaise gave me a weird look before sitting on his bed. "What do you mean?"

"Hiding from everyone, not eating, nightmares, the constant look of death in his eyes. Those aren't things you develop over night."

"He's not eating or sleeping?"

"No. He's not." I said sadly looking at the sleeping boy in front of me

How can such a beautiful person struggle so much?

Blaise sighs. "I don't know. Maybe we should talk to a professor?" He suggested.

"Maybe I could talk to Snape, he would know what to do." I said.

"Sounds like a good idea. Hey I'm gonna get some studying in before bed, so I'll be down in the common room if you need anything." He said standing up.

"Ok." With that. He left after grabbing his bag from off the floor next to his bed.

Not even a minute later, Harry began to toss and turn.

He whimpered and then started screaming. "Stop! Please! I-It won't happen again!" Tears streamed down his face.

I panicked. This is worse than last nights nightmare.

"Harry!" I started to shake him. My concern clear in my voice. "Harry, please wake up!" I said a bit louder.

His eyes shot open tears streaming down his face.

He bolt up and the next thing surprised me more than anything.

He grabbed ahold of me and cried into my chest.

At first I was too shocked to do anything, but then my senses came back to me.

I wrapped my arms around him protectively and placed my chin on his head.

"It's ok. It was just a nightmare. You're ok." I said calmly to him, but in reality I was terrified.

What has he been through that causes him to have night terrors such as these? Theyr horrendous!

He cried and it didn't seem like he was going to stop anytime soon.

"Shhhh, hey, nothing can hurt you." I whispered into his ear.

We sat like that for almost thirty minutes. My shirt drenched entirely with wet salty tears. His grip on me never loosened as the boy in front of me let his guard down.

Slowly but surely he stopped crying.

He pulled away from me and looked down.

"I'm sorry. I didn't mean for that to happen." I gave him a small smile.

"No, you're ok. Do you maybe want to talk about it?"

He shook his head making frown slightly.

I guess he still doesn't trust me.

"No, b-but if it's ok? C-Can you maybe stay w-with me?" His cheeks flushed red.

He just blushed. Ladies and gentlemen, Harry Potter just blushed not only in front of me, but because he was nervous to ask something from me.

Well this is new.

If it's gonna help him sleep. Then I'm ok with it.

I crawled into bed next to him. He snuggled up next to me, his breath fanning my neck lightly.

Usually, I would push him off me and be disgusted, but I wasn't. I wanted to protect him from whatever he was going through. I wrapped an arm around him pulling him closer.

Eventually, the two of us fell asleep.

Harry didn't have another nightmare that whole night.

--------

I woke up the next morning slightly confused to find Harry curled up into me, but then I remembered.

Good news is he never seemed to have woken up.

I untangled myself from him and checked the time. 6 o'clock. Might as well get ready.

I did my usual morning routine, when I came out of the bathroom, Harry was still asleep on his bed.

"We didn't want to wake him." Blaise said.

"That's fine, you guys go down to breakfast, I'll wake him up and get him down there." The three boys left the room
I sat down in front of Harry and leaned over

"Harry, it's time to get up " he groaned slightly. "Come on, we're going to be late."

His eyes opened slightly and slowly he sat up. "Ok." He yawned rubbing his eyes.

He climbed out of bed and got ready. When he was done, both of us headed down to the Great Hall.

This time, I would make sure no one bugs him.

When we entered the room. Some people snickered as we made our way to the Slytherin table.

Harry looked down at his hands the minute we took our seats.

Breakfast was uneventful, I glared at anyone who wanted to so much talk about Harry and most seemed to take my warning.

Harry still wasn't eating though.

"You need to eat something." I said. I placed some food on his plate, not much, but I hope he would eat it.

He didn't. He pushed the plate away and then turned to me with a bright smile.

"I'm not hungry. I'll eat at lunch." I didn't believe him. Not one bit, but it's not like I could shove food down his mouth, yet I was tempted to do so.

Blaise threw him a wary look and then looked up at me.

I sighed and then shrugged.

I'll just make sure he keeps to his word at lunch.

Potions was our first class today, which I was happy for. I left the Great Hall, before everyone else so I can talk to Snape. I left Harry in Blaise's hands, knowing very well he'll look after him for the time being.

When I made it to his classroom, I knocked on the door.

"Enter." His voice rang.

I opened the door. Snape was grading some assignments.

"Hey Sev. Mind if I talk to you for a minute?"

Snape put his quill down and looked over at me.

"Of course. What seems to be the problem?"

I took a seat close to his desk. "It's Harry, sir. I'm worried about him."

Snape gave me a confused look.
"And why is that?"

"Well it's just. He's not eating anything, he can't be asleep for more than five minutes without waking up screaming and it seems every time something goes wrong, he hides and sometimes it's hard to get him to come out."

Snape was silent for a moment, taking it all in.

"Yes. I've noticed during his second year here that something was off. His weight dropped tremendously. He was always a scrawny boy, but his weight has gone down since his first year."

It shocked me to know that Snape payed attention to Harry, knowing how much he doesn't like the boy, but it shocked me even more that he probably hasn't had a decent meal since, well I don't know how long. Years maybe.

"Snape. If it's not too much trouble, but can I ask why you don't like him very much?" I wanted to know. He never treated anyone the same way he treated Harry.

Snape sighs. "His father and I didn't get along very well in our time at Hogwarts. In fact, James was quite the bully back then."

"But why gang on Harry for something his father did?"

"When I met Potter his first year here, he was just as mischievous as his father. I guess I retaliated towards him, but from what I'm hearing, he's not doing well, I presume?" He looked at me. I couldn't read the emotion off of his face.

"Yes. He's not, and to be honest. It's kinda scaring me."

"Don't let your father know you've been talking like that. He'll ring your head."

My father is a pretty scary man. I should know. Every time I stepped out of line, I got punished, and it wasn't pleasant in the slightest.

"Yeah. I know." I replied, looking down.

"I'll talk to Mr. Potter after class today. You needn't worry."

I nodded my head right as students began to flood into the classroom.

I took my seat in the back, like I always do. Harry joined me a few moments later.

"How are you doing?" I asked a little shyly.

He looked at me for a second and then looked back down at his desk. "I'm good."

I almost wanted to roll my eyes. I know he's not ok.
