Best Frenemies
This is in Kyra's P.O.V btw
Ex BFF ew I hate her: Kyra?
Ex BFF ew I hate her: I know we never text anymore, but I would really like to start talking more
Ex BFF ew I hate her: are you there?
Ex BFF ew I hate her: I'm really sorry
I didn't know how to respond to Stacey's texts. After all these years, she actually had the nerve to text me? Man, she really wanted my forgiveness. I sigh. As much as I disliked her, I missed my best friend. I tap Elijah's shoulder.
"What?" He asks me.
"I think I left my necklace at the burger place," I say, trying to think of an excuse. He groans.
"I don't wanna WALK ALL THE WAY BACK OVER THERE," He says, lazily. I roll my eyes.
"Fine, I'll go by myself. Wait in the car," I say, tossing him the keys. He catches them, says later, and walks towards my car.
I rush over to Berne's Burgers as quick as I can, and I see Stacey about to leave the fast food place. I run up to her, and pause when I'm in front of her. She gives a shocked, but relieved look.
"Look, I'll never EVER fully forgive you for the mistakes you made in the past, but I want my best friend back." I say. I see her eyes glisten, and for a second I think she is crying, but she pulls me into a tight hug. I hug back this time.
"I'm so sorry," she says in my shoulder. I pat her back comfortingly.
"Remember the BFF necklace I gave you on your 13th birthday?" Stacey asks me. At first, I didn't know what she was talking about. I then realized she was talking about the silver, heart shaped necklace she had bought for me, with the words Besties for life engraved on the heart.
"You probably threw it away or something, but I always keep it with me," Stacey says, as she reaches into her pink purse and pulls out a familiar necklace. I smile at the sight of the shining necklace. Since it was one of those picture necklace things, she opens the front of the heart reveling a picture of her and I as little babies.
"Wow, I didn't know you still had it, let alone care about me," I giggle. Stacey lets out a laugh. I see Denis and Ethan walking toward the parking lot, and that was my key to get going.
"Well, it was awesome meeting up with you, Stacey," I grin.
"You to Kyra. Take care!" Stacey gives me a warm smile. We say our goodbyes, and head in opposite directions. Suddenly, I turn around and yell to Stacey, "how long are you staying in Massachusetts?"
She yells back, "about 3 weeks."
I smile to myself. I had enough time to really bond with her after a year. I quickly rush over to the car, and see all the boys. Elijah was in the drivers seat this time, and both Denis and Ethan were sitting in the backseat. I notice that the both of them were sharing the same pair of earbuds. I also notice that their fingers are touching. As soon as I open up the door, Ethan's face seems flustered, and he immediately takes out the earbud he was sharing with Denis. Denis gives him a confused look.
"Um?" I question, as I take a seat in the passengers seat.
"Gosh, finally. What took you so long?" Elijah murmurs.
"I also ordered apple juice while I was there," I lie. He shrugs his shoulders, and starts the car. He drops Denis off at his house and drives to mine. Once we reach my home, he and Ethan jump out of my car.
"Well, we are just going to walk home. See you soon, Kyra!" Elijah waves to me. I try to say bye to Ethan, but he would barely look me in the eye. I give him another strange look, and start to think he was hiding something. But Ethan is a sly guy, so you never really know how he's feeling. The twins leave, and I walk into the house. It was already 7:34 p.m so there wasn't a lot I could do. I decide to watch Netflix for a while, eat dinner, and have an early sleep.

Monday soon rolls around, and the next thing I know, I'm suffering in school. Once Jazzy and the twins arrive to school, we hang out -we all arrive 15 minutes before school starts- and sit at a nearby cafeteria table. Elijah tells me about a project that was coming up in history, and Jazzy tells us about the art festival. I was starting to worry about Ethan, because once again, he didn't talk to me, and even he did it came out as a stutter. I'll ask him later about his mysterious behavior.
Off in the distance, near the art display shelf, I see a medium-sized boy, pinned up against a wall by more muscular dudes. I hear them yell at him using very strong language.
"Oh shoot," I say, as the big guys leave, and the smaller kid was left on the ground, his glasses flung onto the floor. I walk towards him, pick up his glasses, and then hand it to him. He smiles at me. I help him up.
"Those guys sure are bullies, right?" He doesn't show any expression.
"Uh... what's your name?" I say. He still keeps looking at me, and for I second I wonder if he's deaf. But he opens up his binder, rips out a sheet of paper, takes out a pencil, and writes these words:
My name is Sub.
Also, shoutout to aperson220 for helping me think of chapter ideas lol
