New York Magic
New York was quite different from our little Sokovian city. For one thing, the teachers here actually recognised that I was quite advanced for 4th grade and adviced my parents to let me skip a few grades.
I ended up going up two grades and let me tell you Pietro did not like that a bit. Atleast this motivated him to put more effort in his studies. As for me, I was a doctor in my previous life, 6th grade wasn't going to phase me. Even if my body didn't know it, my soul had mastered the art of memorizing random facts and remember them at stressful moments. Exams were a breeze for me.
With more resources at my disposal I decided to focus on other things than magic. This was the MCU, technology and hand to hand fighting here werd as badass here as magic. I had to consider the possibility that with the reincarnation in play I wasn't the Scarlet Witch as the original Wanda was. With the shitstorm coming a decade later, I needed something in my arsenal to survive and protect my family.
Anyway, my parents had no problem getting me to join a martial arts class as long as Pietro joined with me. The little shit loved being better at something than me.
On the tech front, I signed myself up for various advanced classes in engineering and computer science. With my near flawless grads point average, the teachers didn't have much problem with it, even though they were reluctant to bump me up another grade. Something about social development.
As months passed, I realised that even though I worked hard on both these things, I knew that I wouldn't be able to become more than average in any of them. I needed to find a way to start using magic. Fortunately, one of the three Sanctums of Mystic Arts was situated right here in New York or more precisely 177 A Bleeker Street Greenwich Village New York.
Being the mature obedient child I was, it didn't take much for my parents to drop me off at Bleeker Street for visiting my friend. I had purposely chosen a time when Iryna would be getting late for work and wouldn't have time to meet my supposed friends parents.
It took a bit of walking but I managed to reach 177A. It looked like a normal building but I knew appearances were decieving.
Knocking on the ancient doorknocker twice, I waited patiently for the door to open.
Ten minutes and thirty rounds of pacing later, it finally opened to reveal the face of a complete stranger.
Was I expecting Wong, Kaecelius or Mordo despite there being no mention of either of them being the Master of New York Sanctum in cannon?
Yes, I was. Sue me.
"Can I help you young lady?" The sorcerer asked.
"Yes. I'm here to meet the Ancient One." I answered, putting on my most serious expression, which looked absolutely adorable on my ten year old face.
The mans eyes widened. He definitely didn't think he would have to deal with this serious breach of the Statue of Secrecy when he came out to talk to a little girl.
Wait, sorry, wrong sorcerers.
But how did these sorcerers remain hidden for so long if they didn't have a Statue of Secrecy? They definitely had one.
"No one with that name lives here, little one." He replied.
Technically true, but misleading.
"Tell her I know about the Dark Dimension and Dormammu." There was no way I was going to tell them that I was the Scarlet Witch, not when she is destined to cause the end of the world. Talking about her own secrets was much better conversation starter.
"Get inside." The sorcerer immediately changed tune after I dropped the D bomb .
Five minutes later I was sitting in one of the sitting rooms in the Sanctum opposite to the one and only Ancient One, in all her bald Celtic glory.
"You are an anomaly in the time stream." She said her first words to me, observing me carefully, likely aware that I only looked like an innocent child.
I was right in her observation. She would have seen her future multiple times using the time stone and knew that this meeting was an anomaly.
Thank God for Sylvie! If she hadn't killed Kang the Conqueror, I'd likely would have dragged to TVA and pruned.
"That's because I know the future." I told her. "Farther than you because I can see past your death."
The Ancient One remained unbothered. She simply raised an eyebrow at me.
Right. She was too experienced and dignified that simply flinging her secrets would break her composure.
"I want to learn magic." I told her, getting straight to the point.
"Why?" She retorted.
"Because I know that things are going to get FUBAR in the coming years and I need to become powerful to protect myself and my family."
"We generally don't accept recruits of your age. Our way of channeling energies requires patience and concentration that children rarely have."
"I only need some pointers. I can't really join Napalese Hogwarts when I'm still in middle school. I know that I'm capable of doing magic in the future, I'd just like to get there without being experimented on by HYDRA."
The Ancient One sat up straighter at that. "And what kind of magic did you get access to after being a HYDRA experiment?"
"Uhh.... The red glowy kind. I could move things around and give people hallucinations."
As soon as I said that, the Eye of Agomotto hanging from the Ancient One's neck began glowing. Unlike Dr Strange, she looked quite effortless while using the time stone to see the future. Her eyes glazed over for a second before she spoke in a horrified whisper, "Chaos Magic. You're the Scarlet Witch."
On one hand, I was able to break her composure, after all.
On the other hand, Oh Shit!
