Part Five

After a few minutes had passed, and he knew his point was clear, the severity he felt for the situation dimmed. It wasn't long before he was joking again. "Man, I hope I don't turn into your other bondmate."

I let out a small laugh, even if I thought there was nothing wrong with Tyler. When we arrived back to the room everyone was silent. I used the silence to check on Tyler's side of the bond, he was frustrated but for unknown reasons. I tried to ask him about it, though he didn't respond with any useful information.

When we finished our breakfast, it was time for us to continue walking to our destination. Or, rather, where we thought our destination was. Shane still wasn't one hundred percent sure, but he researched vigorously all morning. I thought he'd continue to do so until we found it.

As we walked through the tunnels, Anthony was still getting nasty looks, or even, looks of pity. They assumed he was going to be used for his blood, however he was going to help vampires all around be human again. He didn't meet any of the other vampire's eyes, as if he were guilty. I couldn't tell if he were putting on a show or if he was really nervous.

"Are you okay, Anthony?" I asked curiously. He looked up at me, as if he were going to reply, but closed his mouth and looked down at the floor again.

Tyler slowed down to my side, slipping his arm around my waist in doing so. "I think he's just stressed," he said aloud to me, though in a whisper. I leaned into him unconsciously as we continued our walk. "We can talk to him about it tonight," he continued, using the bond this time.

Shane had stopped, looking at a map. Tyler kissed my forehead at the exact moment Shane had figured out the direction we were going in. Stopping like this had happened a lot, making me wish we could use a GPS.

"You guys can be affectionate later, we're almost there," Shane said, bumping Tyler slightly. Tyler frowned, but we sped up anyway to keep up with Shane. "It's a festival! Lillian Reed is performing," he said in excitement. Knowing it was time to rest, Anthony walked to a bench sitting in the corner of the park we'd stopped in. Shane grabbed my hand, pulling me with him to see Lillian Reed.

Tyler was reasonable enough to stay with Anthony, though he was rather reluctant. I tried to communicate through our bond again, but he wouldn't reply this time. The thought of my second bond occurred to me, and I wondered if he knew about it. This had all just become clear to me, it was a possibility Shane had shone through my emotions enough for him to know.

Before I had the time to dwell on Tyler, I was surrounded by a large crowd. On a small stage was a girl, she looked like she had japanese descent. Her long, straight black hair fell effortlessly to her side. It created a background of her own against the thick brush behind the stage. She sung with joy into a microphone, positivity radiating off of her. I soon found myself cheering and dancing with the rest of the crowd.

Lillian Reed took a break, and the crowd dispersed. Shane and I walked to the side, blending into our surroundings. "I love her performances," Shane admitted, as though it weren't already clear. There was a smile plastered on his face that had been there since he saw her.

"She is a good singer," I agreed. Watching him made me feel uncomfortable, so I looked away. I wanted to watch him, though. His joy was spreading into my own emotions, and I hoped Tyler didn't think I was doing too much. Shane's joy was filled with infatuation for her.

"It's not just that," he'd commented. He was starting to calm down, but the mention of her again had spiked his interest. "She was turned against her will, too." I knew then exactly what he'd meant. He spent a lot of time sulking, hating the vampires who'd turned him. Lillian Reed seemed to have made a life for herself, and from the cheer she'd radiated during the performance I knew she didn't have a time of depression like Shane had. Shane admired her for that.

Lillian was back to preform, and Shane had tried to get me to join him again. "I'm sorry," I told him. I removed his hand from my arm and continued, "I should go check in with the others. She's great and all but I'm starting to miss them."

He nodded, understanding my situation, and walked back to the crowd. I started to back away and saw that Anthony and Tyler were sitting in completely different spots, with the same thoughtful look on their faces. I was most worried for Anthony, so priority had me walking in his direction.

He hadn't noticed me because his face was shoved into his arms, not that it would have made any difference; I couldn't see more than one light source in the area. I sat next to him on the bench, resting my hand on his back. He flinched before realizing it was only me.

"You don't have to do this if you don't want to," I told him. He looked up at me, but seemed resolved.

"I'm going to do it. I need to try to help, not just Shane but you and Tyler."

"Ty and I will deal," I told Anthony. "Shane can wait longer, until you're ready. I don't want you to be forced into this."

He looked back at the ground, kicking a poor pebble. "I can do it," he said, sounding strained. He was confident in himself, I could tell; but he, like anyone else, could break.

"I'm here for you," I informed him, unsure of what else to say. His only reply was a nod, so I stood and walked away. I hated the thought of pestering him, especially since he's been so selfless in helping us in this quest. He puts up with vampires staring at him, not being able to see in these tunnels, and endless walks just for us. For the hopes we can be human again, even when we all knew it may not work.

I sighed and walked over to where Tyler had been standing. It was inevitable that I'd have to tell him about my second bond. I figured I'd do it now, rather than wait for Shane to tell him for me. "Are you okay?" I asked. His emotions were swirling too much for me to really get a feel for them.

"Yeah, I mean, it's just..." he started to say, but hadn't finished. He looked tense and refused to look me in the eye.

"What?" I asked, pulling his chin up so he'd look at me. "What's wrong?"

"Um," he pulled away. "I guess I'm just, I don't know, jealous?" Before I could interrupt he started talking, louder and faster. "It's just you're so into Shane. You were sitting really cozy together the other day, ever since we were turned you've always had this weird feel; and I think it's about him, this morning you wanted to be with him alone. You told me to stay behind, Merci, so you'd be alone with him. When we got here you went with Shane immediately, I'm just starting to feel like you'd rather be with him."

"No, you're wrong. Look, I've been meaning to tell you, but I wasn't sure I was right until this morning. I have a second bond, I'm bonded to both you and Shane," I explained briefly. He didn't look or feel much better but at least he was sure I wasn't going to let him go.

"So you've waited until now to tell me?" he asked, feeling defeated. He slouched slightly, not looking me in the eyes.

"I'm not sure how I feel about it, I was scared to see how you would react to it," I said quickly, trying to fix what I'd messed up.

Before he could continue what he was about to say aloud, Shane walked up. "Hey, we can talk about this later, okay?" Tyler asked through our bond. I nodded to him and looked back to Shane, Anthony approached behind him.

Oblivious to what was going on between Tyler and I he said, "It's getting close to sunrise, can't you feel it?"

"Yep," I replied as tyler nodded along with me. It didn't matter how far beneath the ground we were, the exhaustion came over us all the same.

"There's a hotel not far from here..." he started saying.

A rather tall girl with curly dark hair that contrasted her deathly pale skin walked to us. "You two are bonded," she stated, pointing to Tyler and I. "So are you two," she pointed then to Shane and I. "I don't know what that's about, but he's your brother."

"Yeah... How do you know that?" I asked in response. She rolled her eyes at me and left me unanswered, which was rather annoying because I needed to know how long she'd been stalking us.

"Vampires, especially the older ones, know these things without much effort," Shane explained, crossing his arms.

"I knew it!" the girl yelled. "You're the Savior of the Immortal Beings of Night!"

"I think I am..." replied Anthony, backing away as the girl bounced closer to him. She cupped his face, looking him over.

"Of course you are, humans aren't usually kept around this long for travel. Your sister matches the description in the prophecy. Jeez, we need to shorten your name," she mumbled more to herself than anyone else. "I think it should be The Savior of Souls... Yeah, that's fitting." She let go of Anthony to meet Shane's adoring gaze.

"You know of the prophecy?" Shane asked, an incredulous look on his face.

"Yeah, otherwise I wouldn't be here in your business like this. My friend was part of the group that had the vision," she explained, never taking her eyes off of Anthony. "I can't believe this is finally happening."

"Do you know where The Well of Souls is?" Tyler asked hopefully. He was too eager to get out of these tunnels, he missed the feel of the sun and the ability to be with normal people.

"Yeah, the friend I mentioned showed me. She said just in case I ended up being part of it. I feel like she knew I would be. You two, you were turned recently?" She asked Tyler and I, I couldn't piece together how it was related to anything else she'd said.

"Yeah, why?" I replied.

"Oh, so you were bonded to him before the blond one. That makes more sense," she said, figuring out how everyone fit into the situation. "So, it looks like I will be joining you guys."

Ignoring Tyler's shock, I said, "great, what's your name?"

"Oh, sorry. I'm Abby," she informed us. We then introduced ourselves to her before finding our way to the hotel Shane had mentioned earlier.

A/N Okay, so I finally put some more balance to the genders in the story. I really hope Shane is becoming less... what he was before. Lillian Reed, I based her off of a character in my story that will probably never make it to see Wattpad. Lillian will come up again later, do you think Shane is a little more likable than he was before?
