"Wait, Sarada! I'll go with you." Boruto called out as he ran after her. He didn't hesitate to take this opportunity for them to go on a mission, alone, just the two of them.

"You don't need to. I'm kinda excited to go by myself." Sarada looked to the ground and back up to the blonde, smiling sheepishly.

Maybe next time.

"I understand. Just don't get hurt and make me have to come and save you, alright?" He teased, narrowing his baby blue eyes. He knew all too well that the Uchiha could easily hold her own.

"Shut up, Bolt." She rolled her eyes and smiled as they reached the village gate.

"Since when do you call me Bolt?" Boruto said as he put his arms over his head.

Sarada turned around and cupped one hand on his cheek. "Don't worry about me, dobe. I'll be back in 3 days. Don't do anything dumb while I'm gone." Boruto blushed and looked to the side.

"W-Who said I was going to worry about you?"

She laughed and took her hand off his cheek and walked out the gate, one hand around her bag strap.

"I'm off. See you soon, Baka Boruto." She said, her voice lowering octaves as she uttered the last two words.

He smiled big as he watched her walk off until she seemingly disappeared. He just couldn't keep it in any longer. For sure, when she came back, he'd confess his feelings.

He was sure of it.

But he never got to confess, because she never came back.
