Romance Winners

Hello everyone. I apologize for these scores coming out later than planned. I had planned to share them on Wednesday and move on to the Fantasy Genre. But I had unforeseen issues that kept me from being able to get them out.

The first place winners will receive a shout out of their book on my message board. I will place their books on the winning bookshelf in my library. All winning participants will receive winning stickers. Make sure to tag me and comment where you would like for me to share your winning stickers. I have Instagram, Discord and email.

Judging the books was a challenging task, as they were all well written and captivating. Eventually, I had to consider the genre’s relevance to determine the winners. With that being said, two books seemed to lean more towards the mystery genre rather than romance. However, I only read five chapters, and I’m certain I would have discovered the romance aspect in the next few chapters. Regrettably, I could only make judgments within a limited timeframe. As a result, we have two first place winners, one second place winner, and two third place winners, ensuring that everyone placed, because beforehand everyone had almost perfect scores.

This being said, let’s move on to the scores and reviews.

Our first place winner is!

Not My Little Sister

By: lostlovefairy

Overall Score: 99

Title/Book Cover: (1-10) score 10

The book cover is a mesmerizing sight, with its pixelated design capturing the essence of the highrise buildings of New York, USA, where most of the story takes place. As I gaze upon it, I can’t help but feel a surge of delight, knowing that the author has listened to my advice from previous awards, where I had the privilege of judging this book. The cover aligns with the overall plot and captivating blurb, drawing me in with its bold font that complements the romance genre. The title itself is a true gem, intertwining with the intricate threads of the story.

Blurb: (1-10) score 10

The blurb combines the plot’s threads, drawing readers into its captivating world. With an irresistible charm, it entices readers with the alluring promise of a forbidden romance that many adore. Each word gives off eager anticipation. It strikes a delicate balance, offering just enough information without overwhelming. The seamless flow and impeccable grammar are a testament to the author’s skill. Kudos to the author for crafting such a masterful blurb.

Plot/Creativity/Originality: (1-10) score 10

The plot unfolds well straight from the beginning. It is creative; unlike anything I have ever read before. The hook factor is phenomenal and leaves a reader hungry and wanting more with each passing chapter.

Relevance to Genre: (1-10) score 10

‘Not My Little Sister’ is a fitting addition to the romance genre. As the story unravels, the romance between the female and male lead takes shape, akin to a smoldering ember. The palpable tension and exquisite chemistry between the two characters create an atmosphere that is nothing short of extraordinary.

Character Development: (1-10) score 10

Vinaya must navigate through a series of metaphorical hoops, each one representing a challenge she must overcome to maintain her independence and achieve her self-imposed goals. With determination, she rises to the occasion, undeterred by any distractions, including her growing infatuation with her brother’s best friend. Nithin, too, has faced many hardships in his business and personal life. He perseveres, steadfast in his commitment, even as his feelings for his best friend’s sister continue to blossom. I have much more to share, but to avoid spoilers, it’s best for you to experience it firsthand by reading the book.

Story Flow: (1-10) score 10

The story’s flow is smooth; neither too slow nor fast paced.

Grammar: (1-10) score 9

There were almost no grammatical issues and if I saw something, I pointed it out to the author as I was reading.

Writing Style: (1-10) score 10

The author’s writing style for ‘Not My Little Sister’ is exceptional. The author crafted the dialogue and choice of words with such clarity that even non-native English speakers could comprehend. Throughout the narrative, the descriptive text created vivid images in my mind, immersing me in the story. The flawless formatting of the paragraphs and dialogue, along with the seamless flow of the chapters, created an effortless reading experience.

Our first place winner is!

Public Relations

By: Vivhouse

Overall score: 99

Title/Book Cover: (1-10) score 10

I’m not sure how you achieve it, but you have a remarkable talent for melding your book covers with the essence of each story. The female lead, a renowned pop singer, and the male protagonist, a book editor, may seem like an unlikely combination, yet you’ve captured both elements in a delightful and offbeat manner. I adore it. The font you’ve chosen is both fitting for the romance genre and possesses a boldness that catches the eye, surpassing even the captivating background image. The overall plot of the book complements the title well, and Wattpad users do not overuse it.

Blurb: (1-10) score 10

The captivating blurb for Public Relations grabs hold of readers with its irresistible hook factor. It flows so well, without a single stumble in its flawless grammar and punctuation. The author chooses every word, painting a vivid picture that aligns with the overall plot. It tantalizes the senses and has a magnetic force that beckons readers to dive headfirst into the pages.

Plot/Creativity/Originality: (1-10) score 10

Throughout my lifetime, I’ve delved into countless books within the romance genre. Let me assure you, this book stands out from the rest. The characters are unique, their chemistry palpable from the very first chapter. The plot unfolds, captivating readers and leaving them yearning for more. As I immersed myself in the first few chapters, I relished the experience, anticipating what lay ahead.

Relevance to Genre: (1-10) score 10

There’s no contest here, to be honest. The romance, though it is a slow burn, shows from the very beginning and grows with each chapter. ‘Public Relations’ fits the romance genre to a T.

Character Development: (1-10) score 10

It’s somewhat hard to grasp the character development by reading only five chapters; which is why I like to read ten. But somehow, Viv could pull it off. I’ll need to get further into the story, though, to see how the two protagonists pull off this fake relationship for sure.

Story Flow: (1-10) score 10

The story’s flow is quite perfect. It’s neither fast paced nor too slow.

Grammer: (1-10) score 9

There were a few issues with grammar that I pointed out to the author any time I saw one. But it wasn’t bad at all. The book, for the most part, has almost perfect grammar and punctuation.

Writing Style: (1-10) score 10

You have my heart, Viv! The writing flows effortlessly over each chapter. Descriptive text is phenomenal, and even the dialogue flows with descriptive text. It helps readers get engaged to where they can get immersed in the book.

Overall Engagement: (1-20) score 20

Reading the enticing blurb and gazing at the breathtaking book cover captivated me. The words on the page unfolded before my eyes, immersing me in the plot from the very first chapter. This remarkable book evoked laughter and warm-hearted “awws”. Its perfection and suitability for the romance genre, specifically the irresistible trope of opposites attracting, were undeniable. I indulged in the reading experience wholeheartedly and anticipate what lies ahead.

Our second place winner is!

Us Against the World

By: romance_lover16

Overall Score: 98

Title/Book Cover: (1-10) score 9

The main issue I had with the title ‘Us Against the World’ was its overuse here on Wattpad. There are countless titles that are the same or very similar. However, the title fits with the blurb and overall plot of the story. To enhance its creativity, I would strive to create a new title that still aligns with the story’s themes.

Regarding the book cover, it captures the essence of the blurb and overall plot. The background pixilation is vibrant, creating a lively atmosphere despite its somewhat dark tone. The bold font choice is fitting for the romance genre, adding to its appeal. However, I believe it would benefit from incorporating visual cues representing the backgrounds of each character.

The story revolves around a billionaire tycoon who develops cost-efficient medical supplies and a college student aspiring to be a journalist, who also has a disability. While the current book cover is pleasing and has a hook factor, I feel it lacks the spark it should possess. It has the potential to be so much more, with additional visual elements that could enhance its impact.

Blurb: (1-10) score 10

The blurb is almost perfect, but I would replace some commas with periods as some sentences are quite lengthy. I’m a crazy person with such things. Please don’t take offense. It’s just my obsessive nature at play. The blurb entices readers with a perfect amount of information, hooking them instantly, like a fish caught on a line, eager to dive right into their reading. The words fit with the overall plot of the book, like pieces of a puzzle falling into place.

Plot/Creativity/Originality: (1-10) score 10

‘Us Against the World’ is a captivating and unparalleled masterpiece. From the moment I delved into its pages, the enchanting storyline and remarkable characters surprised me. The main female protagonist, amidst her daunting challenges, finds solace in the unwavering support of her loving relatives and friends. The vibrant words on the page brought forth emotions several emotions with me, making my reading experience enjoyable. Anticipation fills me as I await being able to read more, yearning to witness the unfolding of the enthralling tale shared by her and Ezra.

Relevance To Genre: (1-10) score 10

In the fourth chapter, as the story unfolds, the main female protagonist encounters Ezra, her equal. Instantly, a magnetic force pulls her towards him, just as it did to me. Ezra, unlike any other business magnate, exudes kindness and lacks the rigidity one would expect. Being around him is pleasing, like a breath of fresh air. I can’t reveal much more without spoiling the story, but I can assure you, Meera has her work cut out for her.

Character Development:  (1-10) score 10

Meera faces many challenges every day because of her form of muscular dystrophy. Despite having a teenage sister in high school and her own college commitments, she is determined to do her best in raising her. However, it is difficult for her, and she experiences emotional, physical, and mental stress on a regular basis. Despite all this, she remains strong and tackles everything to the best of her abilities. I may not have got to know Ezra, but from what I know, I admire him. He is a good man, and I appreciate all the remarkable work that he and his company do.

Story Flow: (1-10) score 10

Even though I have only read five chapters, I must say that the story flow is smooth and perfect. There isn’t a single thing I would change, that’s for sure. The author has provided us with just the right amount of information to introduce us readers to the main female protagonist, Meera. The author has introduced us to the male lead who will appear more frequently in the upcoming chapters. I am excited to read more whenever I get the chance.

Grammar: (1-10) score 9

Beyond the lengthy sentences that accrue throughout the chapters, grammar and punctuation is almost perfect.

Writing Style: (1-10) score 10

I appreciate the author’s writing style because it is easy to understand, even for non-native English speakers. The descriptive text throughout the writing is outstanding, and I don’t say that lightly. To be honest, I didn’t find any need to give any suggestions for restructuring paragraphs or anything of the sort. I enjoyed reading this piece and I’m looking forward to more.

Overall Engagement: (1-20) score 20

My heart, y’all. The writer has a remarkable way of tugging at readers’ heartstrings. As I delved into the pages, I found myself captivated. Portraying emotions, actions, and surroundings with exceptional talent is the author’s forte. The author draws in the reader, allowing them to experience every sensation alongside the main protagonist. The vividness of Meera’s life is palpable; you can almost taste it, hear it, smell it. Meera, strong and capable, becomes a beacon of inspiration. Without a doubt, I cherished every moment of reading and can’t wait for more. “Us Against the World” is an absolute must-read.

Our third place winners are!

Wandering Spirits

By: Hitsyo

Overall Score: 97

Book cover/Title: (1-10) score 10

I am enamored by the exquisite book cover. The intricate details in the background, along with the captivating image and the framed design, create a mesmerizing sight. It evokes holding a genuine, high-quality book one would find at renowned bookstores like Barnes and Noble or Amazon. The bold font used is not only fitting for the romance genre but also exudes a touch of fantasy. Overall, the book cover for ‘Wandering Spirits’ is nothing short of astonishing. The title itself is unique, aligning with the book’s enthralling plot.

Blurb: (1-10) score 10

The blurb is on point and fits with the overall plot of the book. It flows flawlessly and possesses that enticing hook factor, captivating readers and compelling them to start reading. It is devoid of any grammatical errors and contains just the right amount of information to captivate and enthrall readers.

Plot/Creativity/Originality: (1-10) score 10

I don’t even know where to begin. The story engrossed me from the very first chapter. Unlike any other romance book I’ve read on Wattpad, it is unique and captivating. The level of creativity in this book is astounding, keeping me hooked from start to finish. It was hard to put the book down after reading only five chapters. Right from the beginning, the book gives us a glimpse into the life of the main male lead, Storm, and unfolds the plot seamlessly.

Relevance to Genre: (1-10) score 7

This book most likely would have gotten a perfect score, but the book was leaning more towards mystery than romance. However, when I stopped my reading after chapter five, he was getting the mystery girl in the woods to open up to him a little.

Character Development: (1-10) score 10

Storm has a tendency to procrastinate on doing chores in his home, but there is one thing he always does right - helping his parents with walking the dog. This turns out to be a good thing because it leads to an unexpected encounter. It is during one of these walks that Storm meets Freja, the mystery girl in the woods. Let me tell you, Storm is quite a character! He never fails to make me laugh, sometimes even to the point of tears. He’s an awesome guy!

Story Flow: (1-10) score 10

The story’s flow was impeccable and engaging.

Grammar: (1-10) score 10

There were no grammatical issues that I came across.

Writing Style: (1-10) score 10

The writing style was impeccable and wonderful. I’ve only come across maybe seven books here on Wattpad with such amazing imagery described so well. The descriptive text was phenomenal, capturing everything from thoughts and dialogue to emotions, actions, and surroundings. It was easy to become immersed in the book and feel you were the character yourself. The text’s complexity was minimal, making it accessible to all readers.

Reader Engagement: (1-20) score 20

The pages held me captivate, making it impossible for me to tear my eyes away. With each chapter, I was immersed deeper into the story, unable to let go. The book had me in stitches at times, bursting with laughter, and then feeling the urge to shake the protagonist back to reality. The vivid descriptions brought the scenes to life, leaving me spellbound and craving for more. Reluctantly, I had to move on, and it was a bittersweet moment. But I will return to devour more of this captivating book when time permits. Anticipation fills me as I await the unfolding of the story.

Our third place winner is!

Taking you Home

By: BellOfSilence

Overall Score: 97

Book Cover/Title: (1-10) score 10

I adore how the book cover captivates me with its striking font that boldly grabs my attention. The title stands out, complementing the romance genre, although the tantalizing glimpse of the first five chapters hints more towards the mystery genre. The background imagery, with its meticulously pixelated design, evokes the essence of romance. It’s an enchanting book cover that leaves a lasting impression. The unique title, a rarity on Wattpad, showcases the author’s creativity and dedication. The seamless integration of the title and book cover with the intriguing blurb and overall plot further enhances its allure.

Blurb: (1-10) score 10

The blurb is informative and flawlessly portrays the information. It has a smooth flow that captivates readers and entices them to delve into the reading. The information provided is just right, neither overwhelming nor lacking. It seamlessly aligns with the book’s overall plot and is free from any grammatical errors.

Plot/Creativity/Originality: (1-10) score 10

It is astounding to see the level of effort put into crafting this book. Unparalleled in its ability to captivate readers, the descriptive writing of it is extraordinary. From the very beginning, the plot unfolds flawlessly, captivating readers throughout. It is unique and imaginative, unlike anything I have ever read before.

Relevance to Genre: (1-10) 7

Although I am aware that romance will come into play at some point, there have been no hints of it in the first five chapters of the book. It would have ranked higher if we categorized it as a mystery. Have you ever considered placing it in the mystery genre? So far, it’s a fantastic book and I can’t wait to read more when I get the opportunity. I’m looking forward to exploring the romantic aspect of the story.

Character Development: (1-10) score 10

Even within the initial few chapters, the story effectively reveals the character development of the main male lead Ryker. It’s clear that he is loyal as he embarks on a manhunt to find one of his former Seal comrades, wife and son. As for Evelyn, I haven’t gathered enough information about her yet to form a solid opinion. Most of the first five chapters are of Ryker’s POV, with only one chapter involving Evelyn’s POV.

Story Flow: (1-10) score 10

The story’s flow is perfect, neither slow paced nor too fast-paced and the plot unfolds so well.

Grammar: (1-10) score 10

I did not come across any grammatical issues during my reading.

Writing Style: (1-10) score 10

Without a doubt, this book is perfect. The descriptive text is phenomenal as it captures the surroundings, actions, dialogue, and emotions. Each chapter seamlessly flows, making it difficult to stop reading. Also, the writing style is so clear and accessible that even those whose mother tongue is not English can understand and appreciate it.

Reader Engagement: (1-20) score 20

This book engrossed me, making it impossible for me to tear my eyes away. The mystery aspect was captivating, leaving me eager to uncover the truth. The vivid and evocative descriptions guided me through each chapter, creating a seamless flow that was mesmerizing. This book has hooked me, and I’m anticipating the moment when I can delve into its pages once more. Without a doubt, “Taking you Home” is an absolute must-read.
