Well todays the day, boy or girl, we'll see. I was itching with excitement, but maybe not as much as Mort he was on pins and needles to see his baby again. I was also wondering about what he was making in the shed, I made up mind to ask him today.

"Psst Mort, todays the day. Wake up sexy." I whisper to Mort to get him up.

"Mmmm....what time is it baby?" He asked in that cute morning voice.

"Its 8:30am sweetheart."

"8:30AM? We have to be there by 9:00!" Mort exclaimed as he jumped out of bed and scrambled to get dressed.

We were both dressed and ready, we had a quick meal then were off. We got there right on time, I swear we were at least doing the speed limit. "Gee is he drives this fast just to know the gender, we'll be airborne when its time for the baby to come." I thought to myself as we waited.  

"Mr. and Mrs. Rainey, the doctor will see you now." The nurse said as we were escorted into the same room we were in before. 

"Good morning you two, well are you ready to know the gender of your baby?" The doctor asked as she sat down at the machine. Mort helped me up onto the hospital bed and laid me down gently giving me a peck in the lips before he sat down. The doctor had Mort lift my shirt as she placed some jelly like stuff on my tummy, she then started moving around a wand like thing on me that showed a picture of the little one on the screen. Mort could hardly contain himself with joy. 

"Oh (y/n) there's our baby, right there." He said as he watched the little baby move around inside me. 

"Well its looks like you two are going to have a healthy baby girl, congratulations."  

"Mort! Its a girl its a girl! Were having a little girl!" I squealed with joy.   

"A little girl, our precious baby girl, mommy and daddy love you so much." Mort said as he placed kisses to my tummy not caring that the doctor was still in the room. 

"I'm going to go get some copies for you two, I'll be back soon. Here Mr. Rainey." She said as she gave Mort the wand. "You two can look at your baby for a little bit more if you like." The doctor said as she left the room. 

 "Oh Mort, there she is. Our little girl." I said tearing up a bit. 

"(y/n) you have made me the luckiest man on earth, you and our little girl. Oh she so cute isn't she? So small, just think soon we'll be holding her in our arms." Mort cooed as he gently rubbed my tummy. 

"Here are some pictures for you guys, now I'll be needing to see you in about 3 weeks, but don't hesitate to come sooner if you think you need to." 

"Thank you doctor, we'll see you in 3 weeks." I said as Mort and I walk out to the car. 

"I need to stop at the hardwhere to get something ok baby?" 

"Is it for that thing you've been working on?" 

"Yes, and now I know what color to paint it." 

We stopped at the hardwhere and got a big can on light pink paint and drove home. When we got inside Mort made sure I was comfortable then went out to the shed and stared working on that mystery thing. 

"Daddy's working hard on something for you, he loves you so much. I wonder what it is. Do you want to know what it is?" I said to the little one and got a few kicks in response. "Well lets go see what daddy's up to then." I said as slowly walked out the door to the shed where Mort was painting something.  I knocked on the shed door. 

"Is that my two favorite girls?" 

"Yes, we wanted to see what you are working on, can we?" 

"Come on in." Mort said as I walked in the cold shed to see painted sections of a cherry wood crib. 

"Oh Mort, did you make this all by hand?" 

"Yeah....do you like it?" 

"I love it! Its perfect!"

"When its done drying I thought we could put it in our room." Said Mort. 

"I would love that, thank you sweetheart, I love you." 

" I love you to." He said as he pulled me in for a sweet kiss. 

This man is beyond perfect.
