7. Get Right
Arjun's POV :
"My brother is now literally dating a vamp!" my sister was rambling on the phone, obviously to Pooja, when I got home.
"What? Who?" I heard Pooja's gleeful tone on getting new gossip. Her voice was so loud, I could hear it all the way across the line, through the living room to where I was standing near the main door.
"Some dolt called Rubina. I met her. She is such a dumbo!"
"I thought he and Farah were going to patch up?" Pooja asked.
"I don't think they will", Ananya was telling seriously.
"Well are you okay now?", Pooja asked.
"Yeah babe. I just have this headache that comes and goes", Ananya complained.
I cleared my throat loudly.
Ananya turned and looked at me, "Now it's here again", she said on the phone. Pooja chuckled. They then said goodbyes and hung up.
"What fucking losers!" I said instantly "Don't you pathetic girls have anything to talk about other than my social life?"
"We do what we want", Ananya shrugged in a most irritating manner.
"You're being so annoying" I said.
"I was trying to be like you", she replied innocently.
"Haha! So funny!"
"What? I'm serious! Look at my face, am I laughing?"
I raised my eyebrows, "So you think, Rubina won't work out?"
"I don't know. I won't say she's all bad. Who knows? Maybe you will cancel out each others' high handedness".
"Shut up" I picked up the house keys and threw it at her. She dodged it. I had to admit she was getting good at that.
"Why does Rubina bother you so much?", I brought up the topic again.
"Rubina doesn't bother me, Arjun. You do. I know you've genuinely liked all the girls you've gone out with. You were not hopping and I know you never used any of them for your own benefit either. But for people who don't know you, having a handful of girlfriends at seventeen is not exactly an endearment. Try to understand Arjun! If this goes on, it won't be long before you're certified as a playboy".
I stared at her. I couldn't believe my sister could be so dramatic.
"Are you convinced or should I say a little more?" Ananya asked.
"Enough. I'm not bothered about what anyone else says", I said firmly, "Plus I'm not even using anybody."
"I'd rather play with paper planes and be called a boy rather than play with girls and be called a man - Niall Horan", Ananya lectured again.
"Are you serious? You talk like I'm sleeping around with half a dozen girls here. Don't assassinate my character now", I snapped.
"Well, you've kissed quite a few. You can't deny that".
"Maybe, but just because the best kiss you received is from mom's grandpa when you were four, doesn't mean I should also join your anti commitment association".
"Shut up", I said, "At least I'm not doing anything for an imagery. When I do something, it will be real and derived by destiny".
"You need to stop watching those serials first", I said glumly "Filling your head with thoughts!".
"Come on Arjun", said Ananya , her voice now switching from the 'motivational speaker' mode to a 'priest' mode, "The child follows his father. You should be a good example to your child tomorrow."
I was pretty sure, my karma would reward me with a horrible child as punishment for all the torture I'd given my parents.
Plus, I had never more than kissed any of my girlfriends. Why was Ananya talking about kids already?
"Enough of this nonsense. I'm going to my room now", I said.
"No wait, we're going to Pooja's house now."
"What? Have you asked dad or mom yet?"
"Yeah, I told dad we're going there to finish our Chemistry assignment which is due tomorrow", Ananya replied.
"That's a creative excuse. Okay, then are you ready?"
"I was born to be ready!" said Ananya flipping her hair to one side.
"Ughh..don't do that. I'm not your boyfriend".
"So?"
"I can't sing the way you flip your hair gets me overwhelmed, understand?"
"Whatever, let's go", Ananya said impatiently.
When we went to Pooja's house, she dragged us up to her room and we were greeted by a huge baby elephant sized poster of One Direction.
Ananya gave a loud whoop and dashed off to the wall and Pooja followed suit.
I should've known!
Ananya spent another half an hour oggling at the poster before Pooja took mercy on me and opened a nicer topic "By the way, have you guys done anything in the Biology, Physics or Chemistry records till now?", she asked.
"I haven't even wrapped my record notebooks yet" I said.
"I have wrapped them but nothing more", Ananya said.
"Good. Do you want to do some Biology record work tomorrow?"
"No, but let's do it", Ananya said "You come to our house straight after school".
"You know what, I'm not sure I can do any record work tomorrow. I'll be thinking of a very pretty girl", I said.
"That's interesting!" Pooja said.
"I'll make it more interesting", I said, "I'm in her house right now".
"Alexa! Play Senorita", Ananya said loudly.
"Shut up!" I said and then turned to Pooja, " That was just for fun Poo. I don't you want to take any mixed message from me".
"Mixed message? You barely give any regular message", Pooja grinned at me. I grinned back.
Thankfully, Ananya didn't bring up the topic of any boyband for the rest of the evening and we spent it having dinner and chatting.
When we came back from Pooja's house, a new dream had given rise in Ananya's head. She also wanted a One Direction poster in her room now.
"What? No way!", mom said and then turned to me "Is she all right upstairs? Are you sure you didn't give her a head injury again?"
"Mom it's just one poster!", Ananya begged.
Ananya's new desire was clearly not welcomed by my parents. The idea of adding the poster of a boy band to her room, especially a boy band known for their ridiculous good looks and for having a huge female fan following was appalling to them. According to them, Chris Hemsworth had already distracted her enough.
But Janvi concurred with Ananya and brought her the poster when mom refused to. She couldn't see what the harm was in having five good looking boys smiling down at you from your wall.
"It did nothing wrong to me" she said confidently as she tapered the huge poster on Ananya's bedroom wall "I had the Backstreet Boys on my wall while growing up and it always made me more cheerful. Never once, did it mess up my studies".
"Yeah that's why you failed your Maths exam in eleventh grade", mom snapped in the background.
A/N : Hey my lovely people! ❤️ Okay, I know this chapter was pretty much of a ramble *sigh* (Forgive me and my one direction fever)
I'll be back soon. See you, till then. Love you!
