(Nagihiko's POV)
I laughed it off playfully, even though inside I was going crazy. I had to think of an excuse! FAST!
"I'm sorry, Hotori-kun... I-I just knew there was a lot on your mind and I was wondering if you'd notice! I-It was just a joke..." I covered quickly; I am a good actor but boy was it hard to lie to him. I never thought I'd end up gay. Huh. Oh well.
Tadase smiled at me. "Oh, okay. I was just surprised. It's not really a problem, Fujisaki-san." He sighed. It was clear that he was still thinking about the whole love thing. I felt bad but he was going to have to face it sometime. I looked at him and smiled. "...How about you, Fujisaki-san?" He asked me in a sheepish tone. It caught me totally off guard and I nearly tripped on my feet.
"Me? Well.." I began with a nervous laugh. I had never been asked that. Like,ever. Boy was it nerve-racking. I didn't even want to think about my love life right now! But I smiled through it. "I'm somewhat interested in a few people. Why do you ask, Hotori-kun?" I replied cheerfully. What an out of the blue question. I ignored how loud my heart was beating and internally hissed at it to stop lying to itself. Tadase would never love me. After all, he already knows about the man behind the curtain. The thought of that made my stomach turn. I couldn't afford to think about what Tadase thinks of me right now.
When he heard my question his cheeks flushed a little and he looked down. "I-I was just wondering." He replied with a half smile. I wonder what could be wrong? I furrowed my eyebrows.
"Hotori-kun? Are you alright?" I asked him with a worried expression. He just nodded. He was worrying me. He looked to his left where his class was.
"Well..." He gave a weak laugh. "This is my class. I'll see you at the Guardian Meeting, bye Fujisaki-san." He waved with a small smile. I smiled back.
"Yes, goodbye, Hotori-kun. See you then." I spoke elegantly and sweetly. I did hope he'd be alright.
