Chapter 8: Fall of General Mercury
Mercury was bowing before Salem and he was sweating nervously.
"Mercury," Salem said, "I am pleased with the amount of energy that you have collected. However finite that may be. But you have also had failure after failure at the hands of Sailor Moon, Sailor Mercury, and Sailor Mars. This is your last chance to destroy them Mercury. If you fail your will be punishment will be eternal sleep."
Mercury stepped back a bit, "I understand majesty."
Salem narrowed her eyes, "good. I wish you luck then."

"That one is the Big Dipper," Ruby said to herself as she traced the constellation with her finger.
She then traced two more shapes with her finger, "that shape kinda reminds me of Jaune. And the other reminds me of Tuxedo Mask. Man I'm in love with two boys. This is seriously crazy."
Zwei yawned and rubbed his eye with his paw, "and this is making me seriously sleepy. Isn't there anything else we can do?"
Ruby sighed, "you know what would make things easier? If Jaune was Tuxedo Mask. Then I wouldn't have to worry about what boy to choose."
Suddenly the sky darkened and lightning lit up the sky as a funnel cloud began to form. Ruby and Zwei then watched in horror as the clouds took the shape of Mercury's face.
"I have come to challenge you to a duel sailor scouts. Meet me on the airport runway at 1:00 tomorrow night. If you don't you can say goodbye to your precious city." He chuckled evilly before the clouds dissipated.
Ruby looked at her corgi companion, "What should I do?"
"We have to tell the others." Zwei said.
The redhead nodded and immediately headed to Oniyuri temple to meet up with her friends.
Once they explained what happened Zwei gave all three girls a serious look, "you must go and face Mercury. Something tells me he's not bluffing when he says he'll destroy the city."
"Right. Which means we have no choice but to face him," Cinder said.
"No it has got to be a trap," Blake retorted.
Ruby didn't say anything.
"Well what do you think Ruby?" Cinder asked, "we fight him right?"
"No we wait right?" Blake asked, "we need a plan or he'll beat us for sure."
The silver eyed girl groaned in annoyance, "I don't know what to do."
The next morning at school everyone was talking about the mysterious message in the sky and what it could mean. Some were even talking about going to the airport themselves to see what was going on.
"It's gotta be a hologram right?" One girl asked.
"No it's aliens! They're angry at us for polluting the planet and they want to wipe us out!" Ugine yelled.
"Ugine!" Jenni said rolling her eyes, "none of that sci-fi stuff exists. But I would like to see what's going on over there. Why don't we all go together?"
"And just what are you all planning?" Ms Goodwitch asked. She walked over to the group of students, "none of you should even go near the airport until the police find out what's going on."
"Y-Yeah listen to Ms Goodwitch," Ruby said nervously.
"Rubes are you feeling alright?" Jenni asked in disbelief, "you never agree with Ms G."
"I'm just fine Jenni! I just wish you all would take this more seriously!" Ruby snapped.
With that she sat down at her desk and buried her face in her arms.
After school Ruby went to talk to Jaune at the arcade about what was going on.
"And then they acted like it was some joke when I tried to be serious," the redhead groaned.
"Well I'm sorry Ruby but I have to agree with them," Jaune said, "you're just not really a serious person. But that's ok. I like your crazy, silly personality."
Ruby blushed, "really?"
The blonde man nodded, "Yeah. But if you'll excuse me I have to get back to work."
The girl nodded and left the arcade skipping and humming to herself. Except she was so into her skipping that she didn't notice her shoe fly off and clock Oscar in the head.
"Can't you keep your shoes on your feet Red?" Oscar asked.
Ruby took her shoe back and put it on her foot, "I'm sorry it was an accident."
Oscar rolled his eyes, "Why don't you be more serious?"
The girl scoffed, "I've been trying to all day but nobody takes me seriously when I'm serious. I don't know what you people want! Now please move!"
With that she pushed him out of the way and walked away.

Mercury was sitting on a hangar at the airport waiting as the hours ticked by. As night approached he saw more and more police officers approach.
"They can have as many cops as they want show up. It won't matter," Mercury scoffed.
He raised his left hand up and cast a spell on the officers causing them all to fall into a deep sleep.
"Ready or not here I come sailor scouts."
Meanwhile Blake, Cinder, and Ruby were making their way through the airport trying to find Mercury. But it didn't seem like any of the city transport was running. That is until a lone shuttle rolled onto the tracks and the doors opened seemingly on their own.
"Mercury has left us private transport so let's take it," Cinder said.
The three girls boarded the train and headed to the airport.
When they arrived they found that policemen were stationed everywhere.
"I don't know why but I have a bad feeling about all this," Cinder said.
Suddenly one of the officers looked at them and his eyes glowed red. Blake's cat ears twitched at the slight sound the man was making.
"Ruby watch out!" She shouted.
Ruby jumped up just in time as the officer slammed his nightstick down on the floor where the redhead girl had just been standing.
"Wait what? I thought the police were on our side!"
"Who cares just run!" Cinder shouted. She started running straight ahead with her two friends following.
They managed to make it outside but the officers were still tailing them.
Blake stopped in her tracks, "Alright enough is enough."
She reached into her skirt pocket and pulled out her power stick, "Mercury power!"
The stick glowed and transformed her into Sailor Mercury.
"Good thinking Blake," Cinder said, pulling out her own power stick.
"Mars power!"
The power stick glowed turning her into Sailor Mars.
"I guess it's my turn then," Ruby said, "Moon prism power!"
Her locket glowed and turned her into Sailor Moon.
Sailor Mercury pressed her left earring causing a purple visor to appear over her eyes. She began using it along with her data computer to analyze the strange police officers. Except she couldn't believe what she found.
"Hey these men aren't real. They're made of mud!"
"Then I'll handle it." Sailor Mars said. She clasped her hands together with her pointer fingers facing upward.
"Mars fire ignite!"
The flames engulfed the mud men and turned them to dust.
The three girls then heard the evil laughter of Mercury. They looked up to see him standing on the roof of one of the airport hangars.
"Sailor Moon, Sailor Mercury, and Sailor Mars. Now I've got you right where I want you."
"Be on guard scouts," Zwei said.
Mercury looked down at the girls, "you know it's a shame that you're all so young. You've hardly had time to enjoy your life. And now it's about to end."
Sailor Mercury looked at her friends, "you guys if we want to beat him then we have to stick together."
"Right," the other two scouts said in unison.
"Enough chit chat!" Mercury snapped. He raised his arm up and began using his powers to control the planes on the runway. The planes all turned to the sailor scouts and began driving straight toward them.
"Run for it!" Zwei shouted.
The foursome ran down the various runways but the planes were not easy to outrun. Not to mention that every time they turned around there seemed to be another plane following them. They soon found themselves corned at the edge of the runway which dropped off into the ocean.
Mercury laughed maniacally and motioned the planes forward to crush the girls. However just then a red rose sliced downward across his hand making him lose his concentration.
"Still picking on young girls Merc?" The voice of Tuxedo Mask asked.
But the villain just smirked, "how nice to see you Tuxedo Mask. You can suffer the same fate they are if you want."
Tuxedo Mask simpered, "Thanks but no thanks. I don't plan on losing today."
Mercury summoned lightning that the hero was thankfully able to dodge. He then got some lucky strikes in with his cane. But just when it seemed to be going in Tuxedo Mask's favor, Mercury ran at him and shoved him off the building into the ocean below but as the caped hero was falling he grabbed his adversary pulling him down with him.
"Tuxedo Mask! No!" Sailor Moon shouted.
The girls ran forward to see the hero's top hat float to the surface.
Mercury laughed and levitated himself out of the water, "looks like that's all that's left of your precious Tuxedo Mask. He didn't stand a chance facing me and neither do you."
"We can defeat you Mercury. And every monster you may send our way," Sailor Mars said.
"That's right," Sailor Mercury agreed, "together we are the champions of justice."
"United we are invincible!" Sailor Moon shouted.
"Such pretty words," Mercury said, "but you will still fall by my full power!"
He once again began controlling the planes which sent the sailor scouts running.
"Don't be fooled. Our enemy isn't the plane it's who's controlling it," Zwei pointed out.
Sailor Mercury stopped in her tracks, "Wait he's right. We need to stop and focus on who we're really fighting. Which means we need to distract the planes so we have a clear shot at Mercury."
"Right. Sailor Moon you lead the planes away," Sailor Mars said.
"Wait why do I have to do it?" Sailor Moon asked.
"Mercury bubbles blast!" Sailor Mercury shouted. Purple bubbles appeared in her hand and when they popped they released a black shadowy fog masking her and Sailor Mars's escape.
Sailor Moon then began running again as the planes chased her.
Mercury jumped down from his perch, "What's this fog? I can't see a thing."
"Over here!" Sailor Mercury shouted.
Mercury turned towards the water heroine and used his magic make one of the planes turn and chase her.
He was enjoying watching her run for her life that he didn't notice Sailor Mars sneaking up behind him.
Sailor Mars held up a piece of paper. Written on it was a charm intended to ward off evil, "I call upon the power of Mars. Fire balls charge!" She slapped the paper on the villain's back causing him to be engulfed in flames.
When the smoke cleared he found that the planes were all headed toward him due to the fact that the three sailor scouts were standing in a formation around him.
"You've underestimated us Mercury," Sailor Moon said, "together the three of us are stronger then your evil. And now you're caught in your own trap just as you deserve. You only fight for evil and on behalf of the moon I'll punish you!"
She removed her tiara where it promptly turned into a discus, "Moon tiara magic!"
The heroine threw it at Mercury but he was able to dodge out of the way. Unfortunately that left him wide open for one of the planes to run him over. Mercury braced for the end, he was finished.
However instead of feeling his body being crushed by the plane he instead felt as if he was being transported somewhere. He opened his eyes to find that Salem had pulled him through a portal back to her domain.
"Queen Salem please I can explain!" Mercury begged.
"Silence," the dark queen commanded.
"But majesty I have learned the identities of the girls. They transformed before my very eyes."
"I waned you what would happen if you failed again," Queen Salem said.
Her eyes glowed red, "now you shall sleep forever."
She then used her magic to freeze Mercury in a block of black ice. Then several Grimm arms came from the floor and pulled him into the dark pools from where they were created.
"Let Mercury's fate be a lesson to you all!" Salem commanded her forces.
She then looked among her followers, "I shall need a new general for my forces. Adam come here."
A young man stepped out from the shadows. He was wearing a similar outfit to Mercury's except it was black and red. He ran his hand through his brown and red streaked hair.
"Mercury was nothing but a disappointment, but I majesty shall not fail." Adam said.

Back at the airport the girls were still trying to see if they could find a trace of Tuxedo Mask. But they weren't having any luck.
"I think he may really be gone," Sailor Moon said tearing up a bit, "I just wish I could've told him how important he is to me. To us."
"I'm glad you were worried about me," Said a familiar voice.
The girls turned and saw Tuxedo Mask standing there.
"You're ok!" Sailor Moon shouted happily.
"Please Tuxedo Mask can you tell us who you are?" Sailor Mercury asked.
The hero shook his head, "I can't. Just know that I'll always be ready to fight for you girls. Farewell."
With that he jumped into the sky and flew away.
"Well we did it," Sailor Mars said, "we won. We beat Mercury. Finally."
