DISCLAIMER: The Safe features violence (including suicide), adult language, and mild sexual content. It also contains brief reference to sexual abuse. Finally, as the book is set inside a mental hospital, mental disorders play a significant role within the story. All that said, if you've read My Hungry Friend and/or Poor Things, you should have no problems here.

On a side note, readers of My Hungry Friend might recognize the setting of The Safe, Harbrook Hill, from a certain somebody's troubling backstory.
