Chapter 2
Carter's POV
"Make sure this house is locked up top to bottom." I gave Messiah a deadly look.
I never doubted Messiah but I always made sure to remind him what would happen if he let things slip.
"Of course, Rei." He nodded sternly.
"If I return and one of those girls are hurt, your heads getting sticked." I threatened and threw my car in reverse.
My house was covered with men standing guard, nothing was getting through while I wasn't home.
Ever.
I drove at a ridiculous speed, swerving in and out of cars, and made it to my destination in record time.
"Carter, how are you?" My cousins greeted me.
"Yeah cherry, fuckheads." I pushed passed them and swung the door open.
"That's not our names." They protested but shut up once I turned to face them.
"I'm not in the mood." I hissed.
"Yes, Rei." They showed submission and headed in the opposite direction of me.
"Where the fuck are you?" I walked through the house.
"Here. Always the impatient, cous." Kai came waltzing down the staircase.
"I told you to wait outside for me." I grunted.
"Well, I needed a toilet didn't I?" He rolled his eyes.
"We're on our own tonight, fucking se apresse." I told him to hurry up in Portuguese.
I floored it to the shipment yard. We had to be there before the deal wrapped up.
"Slow down!" Kai yelled, with his arms spread out, holding onto the door and the middle compartment.
"Piss off." I picked up speed just for his complaining.
We passed the police, sitting on the side of the highway but they never came after me, pretending as if they didn't see my car, flooring it at 350 km/h. Their cars have no chance of catching me, there was nothing to worry about, especially if the local police were scared of you.
I use threats to get my way, and I make sure to keep them.
Once we arrived, I threw the car in park and slammed the door shut after me, knives in hand. We walked through the silent container yard until we neared the voices I was in search of.
"Something is off, this was too easy." A voice I recognized as Darian Pofuge, him being in a gang I deal to.
"What was too easy?" Wade Pofuge questioned, he was the leader.
"This, there's no fucking way Soreign wouldn't have known about this." Darian hissed at his older cousin.
"What Soreign doesn't know won't hurt him, I made sure he didn't know, don't worry."
"Are you two done being pussies? I want my money." A voice I didn't recognize called out.
"You're messing with Soreign's business, this is his territory." Darian argued again.
"Shut up." Wade growled.
My lips rose into a smile. Interesting. I thought.
I stepped around the container me and Kai stood behind and walked into the crowded area.
"Didn't want to invite me Wade?" I called out, smiling around at everyone.
Guns rose directly at me and Kai, they all stared at each other nervously, waiting for confirmation from their leaders.
I didn't recognize the man who looked to be dealing drugs to Wade. He wasn't anyone I've seen before.
Fun. I smirked.
Taking a threatening step towards them, a chorus of safeties went off.
"Ah ah ah." The Unknown smirked.
Red beams coated every single one of their men, leaving him, Wade and Darian.
Checkmate.
Within a split second, their men laid dead on the dirt ground. Blood gushing from their heads.
An instant kill. I grinned at the sight in front of me.
"Who the hell are you!" The Unknown spat, he tried to portray unaffected but his shaking hands said otherwise.
"I'm no one, who are you?" I walked circles around the three before stopping in front of the wrapped cocaine and slashed one of the bags open.
"Gal Afonso, Do you know the law of the street?" He raised his voice, watching as I slashed the rest of the bags open.
The bags of cocaine were 80% synthetic, knowing Wade, he most likely didn't know that.
"I'm Soreign and yes I do. Take or be taken." I threw an unexpected knife and watched as it landed between his eyes, blood poured from his head as he hit the ground like his and Wade' men.
"Please, Rei I tried to stop them." Darian begged.
"DO NOT BEG, I CAN'T STAND A MAN WHO BEGS." I growled, carving an S into Gal's forehead.
"Yes, Rei." Darian coward away from me with his head down.
"I thought we had an understanding Wade." I moved towards him and lifted his head with the tip of my knife, blood trickled down his neck as I pressed.
He grunted in pain, not saying a word.
"Who is Gal Afonso, Wade?" I asked calmly, digging the knife further into his flesh.
"His family is new into the business, they came in with cheap prices." He rushed out, his expression morphed into a pained one.
"Did you know the majority is bath salts?" I asked.
"I'm sorry." He hissed at the stinging pain I caused him.
"Why? I'm not." I drove my knife into his throat and pulled it out as he fell backwards.
"Oh jesus, Wade." Darian ran to his now dead cousin.
"Know how to run a gang, Darian?" I asked unbothered by the scene playing out in front of me, throwing a lighter onto the bags of money.
"Please, don't kill me. I promise I tried to stop him." He cried, staring at the burning bags filled with cash.
"Eu não me importo. (I do not care)." I yelled. "Answer my question."
"I do." He stood, wiping at his face.
"Stop crying, Wade was a dick anyway." Kai rolled his eyes.
"You're running it now, you answer to me. I'll be in contact." I stared him down and answered my ringing phone.
"Get the fuck out of here." Kai growled at Darian.
"Serial and the rest will be here shortly to take care of Wade and his men." I informed Kai as we watched Darian take off running. "We'll leave Gal and his men as a message."
I floored it back to Kai's house to drop him off.
"I'll see you at the lunch, cous." He gave me a smirk, knowing I hate the stupid thing our Grandmother made our whole family have every year.
I rolled my eyes at him in reply.
They all know about Ava living with me because Kai doesn't know how to keep his mouth shut. I haven't told anyone about Grayson, for the sake of our sister, she doesn't want Grayson apart of this life and Grayson wants nothing to do with it. I will always respect their wishes.
They're all curious about Ava, my mother on the other hand, doesn't want Ava anywhere near our family but Ava's my family so she'll have to learn to accept Ava.
I replayed the scene in my head, the day my family found out about Ava moving in with me.
"If you have hate towards Ava you have it towards me as-well, step out of line. So god help me." I warned my mother.
"I don't want her in this house if her mother is that." She spoke in disgust.
"You only hate Maya Monrovian because Hayze fell in love again and married her. Who's fault was that?" I dared her to speak so disrespectfully.
"Mine, it was mine." She replied in defeat.
"I'm not forcing you to open your arms and love Ava from the jump, I just hope you treat her fairly." I walked out on her.
I sped home and pulled into the underground car park of my house.
"Rei." The guards bowed as I passed.
I washed my hands and ate the food Ava had put away for me, my little sister knew how to cook that's for sure.
I showered and dressed into sweats before I made my way down to Ava's room. Beau's being opposite hers.
"Rei." Zion bowed. "They're both in here." He stepped aside from Ava's door so I could enter.
I opened the door and stepped in, they were both fast asleep. The flatscreen TV playing Beau's favorite movie Princess and the Froggies as she likes to call it. I made my way over and kissed both of their foreheads. Beau stirred in her sleep and moved closer to Ava, reaching out for Ava's hair in her sleep.
I chuckled and switched off the TV, shutting the door behind me softly and making my way to my own bedroom.
"Rei, they're coming for her." Serial said through the receiver.
"Tell them where to find me."
