Chapter 6

Darkness. That's all Georgia could see and feel. His thoughts were a mangled web of confused thoughts. But he didn't think the thoughts. Through his shroud of darkness he could hear something, but he couldn't figure out what. It was a noise he felt like he should know the name of, but for some reason he couldn't. Then he realized the noises were words, frantic and worried. But he couldn't understand what they were saying

Ame continued up the dew covered hill as South Carolina trailer behind him. It had been a tight way through the cave he and south had gone threw. It was good to be able to stretch his legs. Unfortunately though, he still couldn't find any trace of the runways. His only clue was a small path at the foot of the mountain they were currently on. For all he knew he was going in the wrong direction. What's worse, South hadn't said a word the whole way. Her usual introverted nature amplified tenfold. He was worried about her almost as much as Georgia, Florida, and North. Then he heard it. A voice! And not just any voice, Florida's voice! His smile turned into a grimace faster than it appeared. Although he was too far away to understand the exact words, he could understand the tone just fine. Without question, Ame bolted toward the voice of his lost son. Then he heard the voice of North Carolina too, except he was close enough to make out a few of the words, 'fine, Georgia, grab, hell.' The distress in the words only doubled his speed. Behind him, South had likewise broken out into a mad dash. Then, as his foot found purchase on the grassy hilltop, he found his three sons who had disappeared so suddenly, who he had worried about so much, who he had crawled through dark caves to find, in a panicked state. At first he saw Florida and North, gathered around something. Then he realised the something was Georgia. His thirteenth son lay on the ground, mumbling while looking directly up. Then Florida noticed him.

"Dad?!" The shocked state said. "How di-."

"That's not important now." The country snapped, "What in god dam happens to Georgia." Ame said as he looked over the peach state. What came next from both Florida and North were bits and pieces of sentences. Ame put his hand up to silence his sons when North mentioned the ritual. Ame's worst fears were coming true, Georgia could be dying for all he knew, he had no idea what was happening at home, and he felt completely powerless. He let out an exhale as he reached into his small pack of supplies and found a first aid kit. Ame gave Georgia some meds to knock him out to at least help him preserve energy by not mumbling, but it had no effect. Ame inspected the syringe to ensure the formula had entered the body, but the formula had been successfully administered. "Figures," he grumbles.

"Everyone help me with moving Georgia, lets get him home." Ame said, lifting the state's arm.

Scotland firmly knocked on the door to his nephew's house. 'It had been too long since he'd seen America and his states', he thought. If they found Georgia, 'no' Scotland thought to himself, 'when they found Georgia,' he'd have to visit his god-son more. Thoughts of taking Georgia to the park and showing up on Christmas filled his mind. The pleasant memories were pushed away the second Canada opened the door. "Deer lord!" Scotland gasped as he saw the mess that had befallen the mansion. The walls were covered in graffiti, tables had been flipped over, and he even saw knives litters around the house. "What the 'ell happens here Nada? It looks like there was a war!" Canada sighed as Scotland entered the house. They sat at a coffee table in the kitchen. Then Scotland realised the biggest red flag of all.

They're were no states to be seen. Usually the center of the mansion by the front door was the littered with states socializing, playing, or arguing. But the place seemed abandoned. Canada started his story after a long sigh,"Ever since Ame left, we've been trying to just stop the states from murdering each other. Its like the civil war all over again. This whole thing with the runways, it triggered something in them. " Before Canada could explain further, they heard footsteps coming from the hallway. Then Scotland saw what might have been one of the most surprising things that could have come down that hallway. It was Michigan and Virginia. Except instead of playing in the open halls, this was darker. Michigan grasped a knife as he chased the smaller state. Scotland instantly jumped into action, getting between the two. "What the bloody hell do you think your doing?" Scotland asked. Michigan spat, "he shouldn't have been in our side of the house. Virginia looked at Scotland, " I just needed to talk to west! I need to say I'm sorry."

Scotland looked at them each in awe. He did the only thing he could think of at the moment. "Each of you to your rooms now!" He snapped.
