Chapter Three: The Dawn Of War
Ace
Ace ducked away from the lightning, barely feeling the singe of scratches on her face before she slipped around, pulling her cane up in defense.
A large 'clang' rang out around the street as Minerva's sword came down upon Ace's cane, shaking the cane and the Goddess holding it, who stumbled backwards into full view of the street.
People were screaming and running from the raging fight as sirens blared in the distance.
The sky above them turned dark as night and thunder boomed as forks of lightning broke through the dark clouds, heading back down to Ace in a second wave, as the Goddess pulled up a glimmering force-field around herself. Protected she may have been, but the force of the lightning still blew Ace back a considerable distance and as she dropped the forcefield, letting her guard down for a second, Thor hit the Goddess with an unexpected bolt of lightning to the chest.
The force of the strike blew Ace back into the wall of a nearby shop, the Goddess groaning angrily as she got back up, struggling a little on her way. Ace's clothes were, strangely, barely singed by the lighting but as she got up, rubbing her back and straightening her feathered hat she was faced with a worrying sight.
Many other Gods were beginning to arrive as the Police cars drew up outside the street and Police came running towards them. There was Poseidon, Venus and many others. Ace swore under her breath as they encircled her. They'd put teleport dampeners round the street, great. Then, to make matters worse, Venus shot a stone at Ace's head from her crossbow, leaving the Goddess with about 4 seconds to act.
In that time Ace turned into the first animal she could think of- which just so happened to a slippery black and yellow python that slithered away as the Gods and Goddesses mistakenly surrounded a grey pigeon in the middle of the street. All of this, while the police continued to draw nearer.
When the police finally arrived and began approaching the Immortals as the latter realised their mistake, the Gods dispersed, some leaving, while the others began trying to find Ace.
However, a second later, a black and yellow python- who was just considering changing into a pigeon - was rudely interrupted by a foot crashing down on their small body.
In the pain, Ace transformed back to her typical form and for a smidge of revenge twirled round and punched Hel right in the side of her gleeful, deadened face before falling to the ground as Hel kicked her hard in the chest.
The Goddess of Death certainly wasn't gleeful now, rather looking repulsively at Ace like she was a bit of dirt on her shoe. After a second of dark stares, Hel flicked her hand at a figure behind Ace who fastened Jotunn Iron chains round the Goddess' wrist at this command, Ace grimaced and gave her sister a death stare which Hel so kindly returned- the watching Officers thinking the Immortals must be mad as they disappeared. Behind them, was left only confusion, and some remnants of the Gods' fights and malice.
Pandora
The Goddess of Darkness felt her whole body twisting as her stomach jolted, the portal shoving her out, in a place familiar, not to her, but to Ace.
In an odd turn of events, Pandora falling through the back of Ace's portal had shoved her out, not quite at Ace's destination, but instead at a common stop for The Goddess of Chaos on other occasions.
For Pandora had emerged near the bottom of one of the Norse Mountains, in a forest of greenery. The trails of leaves crawled above her head as the Goddess sat in a blaze of anger. Pandora knew two things: that the next time she saw her parents- she was going to make them pay for years of neglect, she had to, and that before she did, she needed her real family. The ones who would have her back and not be waiting to stab it with a sharp knife.
She needed Ace and Dawn and she needed them more than ever. It was Ace who had helped her through those years in the darkest depths of the Underworld and Dawn had become a firm and true friend. They needed each other.
The internal battles in her head raged on as the anger bubbled to the surface. And as Pandora ran her hands through her messy hair her fingers reached the ruby incrusted headband given to her by Hades. The band designed to keep her 'ridiculous' hair out of her eyes whilst she was fighting.
She felt the anger coursing through her veins as the headband lying placidly on the palm of her hand shattered- the ground around Pandora shaking dangerously as a few tears of frustration escaped the Goddess' green eyes.
Of course, once she had finally found something nice had to get taken away from her. Not again. Never again. She had finally found a place to belong and she couldn't even keep that, this wasn't on, she was getting Ace and Dawn back if it killed her.
Shaking again, Pandora breathed out slowly, starting an earthquake wouldn't exactly help her stay hidden. So she had to calm down as the Dark Magic inside her preyed on the heightened emotions, coming closer and closer to an explosion of Magic from her anger- something that wouldn't exactly be subtle.
Then, without warning- Pandora heard some familiar voices from a while off and immediately ducked behind a rock, slowly looking up to check that the people she had thought created the noises were actually there. Yes, there they were, sitting outside Ace's Cave or, at least what Pandora thought was Ace's Cave.
What with all the time stuck in her prison of an old home, Pandora had never got the chance to go there yet.
However, surely no-one else had annoyed the Gods enough to have these Immortals crowded round their Cave. Warily, the Goddess advanced, unsure of what to do. After all she was a tad stranded out here, but something pushed her to keep going, blind rage perhaps? It didn't matter.
As she advanced, Pandora was relieved to realise that the Gods did not know she was here, noticing this as one of the Gods spoke in a soft, deadly voice,
"How can one little nuisance's enchantments work this well? I mean they should've crumbled ages ago! When we capture the little wretch I'm going to make her pay for this."
That voice, as The Goddess of Darkness recognised it, sent a pool of emotions spiraling throughout her brain. On the one hand she wanted to jump out and attack Hades for all he had done, make him pay, slowly, but on the other hand she couldn't help being incredibly proud of her friend for giving these villains such a run for their money.
Interrupting Pandora's thoughts, another voice spoke, a second familiar sound, but a much more welcome one this time,
"I am sure it will open eventually and besides, I know Ace- she's not stupid enough to sit in there waiting for us." The calm, cool voice was coming from Brenda, the Goddess of Battle as she sat sharpening her sword, not bothering to look up at Hades.
Brenda's father Ares, The God of War, was also a part of the circle, swinging his own sword lazily. Pandora had met Brenda once before and Brenda really was not the type of person she would've thought would stand with her father. Trust was a tricky thing, that was for sure.
For some potential hope, from some old memories, for an old instinct, could Pandora risk asking Brenda to join them and rebel? It would be incredibly dangerous, but then again, it was either that or she would have to go it alone, which, even compared to rejection, wasn't a very inviting prospect.
Pandora decided what to do and, possibly against all better judgement, ran out, grabbed a shocked Brenda by the hand and dragged her higher up the Mountain in a daze as the other Immortals shouted in surprise. The two Goddesses had a minute to get away, before the assembled Gods finally made the decision to run after them, leaving Pandora little time to explain,
"Look Brenda I don't have much time I wanted to say- You of all people should know a War is coming and do you really want to be on Hades and Hel's side when it does? Your father may be in with their crowd bu-"
At this point, The Goddess of Darkness was interrupted by Brenda as the others raced towards them,
"I'm in," The Goddess of Battle said, quickly.
"Really?" Pandora asked, her low voice cut with surprise.
"Yes, but we have to leave now!" Brenda exclaimed as her father drew closer, followed by the others.
It was then that Ares brought his sword down towards Pandora. Ares was quick, but the Goddess of Battle was quicker, unsheathing her sword and blocking his attack as Pandora looked around to see Ares' sword only a few centimetres from her face, blocked by Brenda just in time. Ares looked at his daughter in shock at this, a furious expression building on his face as he growled,
"You don't want to do this Brenda."
"Oh I think it's you who needs to worry about what side you're on, father," Brenda retorted as the others caught up with them, Pandora throwing out her arms, a jet of Magic sending the other Gods back as they ran. Then as the other Gods got up, The Goddess of Darkness felt her breath quicken, sweat dripping off her face as she once again threw a hand out behind her, yelling, a tremendous yell of fury and pain, releasing a wave of Dark Magic as she did.
A wave that brought down an avalanche on the path behind the two Goddesses, breaking the very fabric of the mountainside next to them and leaving Hades cursing in fury.
"I didn't know you could do that!" Brenda shouted as she kept up her very fast pace.
"Neither did I," panted Pandora in response, looking behind her in shock as the two ran on, her eyebrows knitting together.

Ace
At the exact moment that Dawn had teleported away, Zeus was just about to re-enter the Temple when he heard the presence of the search party behind him, a yell of victory escaping Hel's mouth and seizing the ex-King of the Gods.
Zeus turned, looking incredulously from what Hel was holding to the Goddess of Death's satisfied face.
"What is that?!" The God demanded, his voice dripped in a tired fury reflected on the wrinkles and lines of his face.
At Zeus' words, The Goddess of Death felt it prudent to check who, or rather what, lay next to her, her pale features contorting in horror as she screamed out,
"It's... It's... No, NO!!"
As the illusion the unwitting search party had been under fully lifted and they saw what they had really 'captured', Hel's screams reached their crescendo.
There, in front of them all, was nothing more than a hastily made dummy with a cartoonish face sticking out its tongue at the furious Immortals as they stumbled backwards.
Upon the sight, Thor's face turned redder than his hair as the blue sky turned midnight black and thunder boomed across Olympus.
"Beaten. By. One. Little. Kid!" Hel spat, too angry to shout, spitting each word out like they were a bad taste in her mouth.
Thor was mad. But ten times that anger wouldn't even be a match for that of The Goddess of Death, seeing in fury.
Before anyone else had the chance to speak, an hazy illusion of Ace burst into view- grinning broadly and watching the carnage like it was a hilarious film.
"Oh gather round folks, gather round to hear about the con of the century!" Ace yelled out, smiling at the furious faces in front of her in glee.
"How. Did. You. Do. This?!" Hel spat at the illusion of her sister.
As The Goddess of Death seethed, Zeus watched Ace, eyes blazing as the young Goddess yawned slightly and spoke carelessly,
"Oh it's quite simple really. I honestly don't know you didn't work it out Hel- especially after living with our father, you should know some of his tricks. When you grabbed that snake you just grabbed the sack, I had already turned into a pigeon, the very one sitting next to the Police all that time... so, do you like the design?"
"Sorry?" said Zeus, flabbergasted at the sudden change of tone.
"The Ace of Spades," Ace said, pointing at a black Ace of Spades drawn on the centre of the sack.
"I suppose you could call it my calling card. After all, if other people are rebelling too you'll want to know when it's me." Ace said grinning down at the furious Immortals with a typical wink.
By now, Hel looked ready to explode with anger as Thor and Zeus sent a thunderbolt each flying through the illusion, nearly destroying a nearby Temple in the process.
The destruction only prompted Ace to smile cheekily at them and laugh jovially as she said, "Well try not to miss me too much guys, after all you should be hearing from me soon, oh and Thor? Try and keep your temper under control. You too Zeus. After all you don't want to get sent to anger management do you?"
At her last few sentences, Ace's voice changed to that of someone reprimanding a toddler as Hel and Zeus looked at her with almost identical expressions of disgusted rage, ready to strike, before The Goddess of Chaos disappeared in a puff of daffodil yellow smoke.
This was more than a power struggle for Hel now, this was personal.
She was going to get revenge on Ace, Dawn and Pandora, whether the latter was her only child or not.
"Rebellion," she thought.
"Tsk. Yeah right, those Goddesses couldn't start so much as a club, let alone a rebellion."
The Goddess of Death was going to rule and she was going to do it alone, she didn't need Hades.
Though, little did Hel know that Hades had the exact same idea about her.
At this moment, Hel was pulled out of her thoughts as Zeus reminded them all that they still had Dawn... just in time to receive the news,
Even The Goddess of Light had evaded their clutches.
At this knowledge, the sky above Olympus filled with streaks of lightning as Zeus yelled at the Guards, and anyone who would listen, with a burning, pulsating fury unlike anything the God had possessed in centuries.
