Chapter Five: Plan Of Attack

Dawn's mind burned with confusion as she plummeted down the dark tunnel, the stone floor getting ever closer and closer.

Panic rinsed The Goddess of Light's face and rose in her chest as her fate flashed before her eyes.

Then suddenly, through her now closed eyes, Dawn felt a large mattress beneath them blocking their fall and then promptly disappearing a second later. Once she'd got up, Dawn looked around as the others groaned and picked themselves up off the hard, stone floor.

They were in a large black Cavern surrounded with that eerie green light that emanated from green flames across the walls.

Up ahead she could see two large thrones upon which were seated two shadowy figures with a single smaller figure sprawling across the third, smaller, throne their legs crossed over one of the seat's arms. To add to the hair raising air of mystery around, Pandora and Brenda's clothes, which had previously been soaked from the snow, were now mysteriously dry.

"What in the Nine Realms was that?" Brenda asked picking up her dropped sword and rubbing her sore head with her free hand.

"Oh, Ace can tell you," Caspian said softly, as Pandora looked around for her friend.

In response to Pandora and Dawn's questioning looks, the young God pointed at the figure on the third throne.

As Caspian pointed, green flames burst into life behind the thrones revealing the figures sat there.

There Ace sat, in the smallest throne, looking back at her friends with a slight smirk. Next to her sat Loki and Eris, the former taking up his throne in the most grandiose way possible.

"Yes I'm sorry for the unorthodox method of travel. My dear parents do have very tight security and a rather strange sense of humour," Ace said with a grin in her voice.

"Strange? You were about ready to laugh when you got down here," Loki shot at his daughter who looked outraged.

"That is a slanderous accusation!" Ace replied, her mouth twitching ever so slightly as she did.

"Anyway, I've been meaning to ask you why I have the smaller throne?" the Goddess followed up questioningly.

"Because you are our child, you're the smallest, why would we bother upgrading it now it's already built?" said Loki coolly, relaxing on his larger Throne as Eris nodded in agreement.

"Didn't stop you trying to attack me on the way in!" Ace retorted, whipping around to her parents.

"We thought you were an intruder!" Eris defended, seeming lazily unconvinced.

"The second I told you it was me what did you say?  Go on tell them," responded Ace indignantly.

"Oh that, all I said was it was one of Loki's kids, since you have so many," Eris said, turning a cool eye to The God of Mischief beside her.

"Not that many," Loki responded quietly.

"More than I'd want. But regardless, he simply asked which one it was and-"

"And you called me the not-murderous one! Your own child who lived with you for a good hundred years and I'm the 'not-murderous' one, you couldn't even think of a unique trait cause I'm such a 'normal' person," Ace retorted, her cheeks shining slightly red as her face crumpled into a frown.

"You always were as dramatic as your father. It's one of the reasons I was never too fond of the idea of being a mother, of course the baby was going to be part me but then again they were always going to have some awful father's genes," Eris said shortly.

"Hey! I almost married you!" "And I nearly agreed- everyone makes mistakes darling!" replied Eris in a sing-song voice, as Loki tried to work out whether or not she was joking.

"So, tight security involves chucking people down an abyss then- when exactly did that come in?" Dawn asked, fed up of waiting, looking at Loki and Eris with a peeved expression on her face as Ace got off her throne, handing Dawn back her backpack.

"Who knows, if we like you enough we might tell you where the other entrance is so you don't have to fall down an abyss next time," Eris said smiling at Dawn with her dark eyes narrowed.

"How come Ace got to teleport away?" Caspian asked the two figures curiously, Cascadia watching on from behind.

"Because she may a talented thief and a general nuisance but she's still our daughter... even if she did steal my best daggers," Loki said looking as though he still hadn't quite got over the daggers.

"You stole my staff first I was merely showing you that you're not the only one who can steal things Mr Thief of The Century," responded Ace with a sarcastic grin.

Pandora realised something at this point.

"But- oh, I'm related to you," the Goddess said, looking at the two Immortals with what can only be described as a sneer of disgust.

Ace snorted with laughter at Pandora's expression as Dawn opened her mouth to speak, only to be cut off by Loki.

"Yes but we don't know any of you, and you're Hel's daughter. From someone who knows her all too well, if you are anything like her we wouldn't want you in here."

As Loki finished, Pandora's eyes blazed, Ace covering her face with her hands as The Goddess of Darkness stomped towards Loki and Eris stopping only when she felt Ace's outstretched arm block her path and saw her friend give a small shake of her head.

"Watch your mouth, I'm here aren't I?! Do you really think I'd be risking my life if I was like that maniac?" she spat at Loki, gesturing back at the other Rebels. "Ok, ok, I see your point." Loki conceded before smirking a little. "But that's no way to talk to grandad, you've got less respect than your mother and that is saying something." Loki sneered smiling wickedly as the look on Pandora's face turned even more sour, Pandora attempting to speak again before Dawn came in-between the two, raising her voice and giving Loki a deeply sour look. "Look- we aren't here for a fight." She said as a seething Pandora began to calm down. "Dawn's right- enough with the jokes, do you know why we're here?" Ace asked as she got up, Pandora withdrawing a little behind Ace and giving Loki a death stare he quickly returned. "Because you want our help to win the war? To triumph over evil and tyranny?" Eris said her fingers intertwined underneath her chin. "Yes." Ace said. "Why should we help you? You've only got 6 members and the other side have some of the most powerful influential Immortals in the Nine Realms on their side." Ace smiled at her father's words. "Exactly- we're the underdogs. Just imagine how much mischief and discord you could spread if you joined us... or you could follow everyone else." Ace said grinning as she watched her parents look at each other. "Ace are you sure asking for their help is a good idea? We can't waste our time." "Trust me, they'll be a help, this one'll get em." Ace whispered back to Dawn, before turning back to her parents. "If you're not... scared. Scared of Thor are you?" "Please a fly wouldn't be scared of that ridiculous pile of muscle." Eris said derisively. "Well then is it big strong Zeus you're scared of?" Asked Ace with a cheeky grin "I've got a question for you dear, do you want us to chuck you back up and out of that abyss?" Asked Loki, sweetly batting his eyelashes sarcastically. "Not really no it's not exactly on my bucket list." Said Ace, smirking at her father who returned the smirk with narrowed eyes. "I suppose we could join then, but it gets too dangerous and we're out of there, sound right?" Eris asked looking round at Loki. "Suppose so, what are we doing first?" Loki asked them all as Ace looked shocked. "Wait reall-""We are going to rescue my parents." Dawn said. "We ought to make a plan then if they are in Olympus it'll be heavily guarded." Cascadia said softly and the others nodded in agreement. "She's right- they declared a war, after, well after you escaped." Eris said. "How d'you know that?" Ace asked. "Because that was when they asked us to join them, we told them we'd think about it, lucky for you eh?" Loki replied as Eris slouched back in her throne, the Immortals ready to plan their next move. The first spark of rebellion had been lit. Now it was time to take up the torch.

As the 8 Immortals planned how they could go about rescuing Vulcan and Aphrodite and any other people the Loyals may have imprisoned Loki spoke up, a thought suddenly occurring in the trickster's mind. "I just thought of something. We should have a leader. After all the Loyals have Hades and Hel so we Rebels should have one too." There was a general murmur of agreement as Dawn said. "Yes that's a good idea, should we have a vote?" "Oh I don't think we need a vote." Eris began. "After all you three started this Rebellion so naturally, you three should be the Leaders." She said coolly, pointing first at Dawn, then Pandora and finally Ace. Everyone nodded their agreement and with that the Runaway Rebels had their leaders, the Goddess of Light, the Goddess of Chaos and the Goddess of Darkness. Then Pandora borrowed a piece of paper from the notepad Dawn had been using and spoke as she drew something on the page. "I reckon that each time we rescue anyone or commit any act of Rebellion we should leave something behind so they know it's us, like a mark or-" "Or a calling card." Ace finished. "Exactly so how many should we use?" "What about one for each of you? Three seems like a good amount." Caspian said addressing the Leaders. "Right. Well here's one." And Pandora ripped out the page and showed them the drawing. It was a dark box with chains snaking around it and the letter 'p' engraved on all sides much like Pandora's Box itself. "We need to be quick." Said Dawn as she hurriedly drew hers and Eris used a thin dagger to cut Pandora's drawing into a neat card shape, Ace replicating it with ease. Then Dawn flicked her card towards Eris, a sun outlined in pink rising up barely showing as it spun through the air while Ace replicated that and her own card.

"So now we have that dealt with- what exactly is our plan?" Brenda asked. "Well I doubt we'll be able to go in quietly- not now they're looking for us. So- if we can't go in quietly, then we may as well go in as loudly as we can, let people know we're out there rebelling!" Pandora said to nods of agreement from the others. Loki shifted in his stone throne and said in a rather excited tone, "Every good plan needs a diversion right? Well I think me and Eris are best suited to that." A gleeful smirk passed across the trickster's face at his words. "He's right." Eris said simply as the others considered it. "I agree." Ace said to murmurs of agreement from the others. So Loki and Eris began a whispered conversation regarding their diversion whilst the Rebels came up with a plan of their own. "So Loki and Eris will divert the Guards, then I suggest we split into two teams, one to deal with any extra Guards and one to rescue those trapped in their dungeons. Now given that there will be six of us after Loki and Eris leave to divert the Guards then we should have 3 people on each team. So are we agreed upon that?" Brenda said making Ace think what an advantage it was to have a tactical genius on their side. "Yes." Nodded Dawn as the others voiced their agreement. "So who is going on what team? I think I should go with the Rescue team as it's my parents down there, so who is coming with me and who is going on the Attack team?" Dawn said, with a slight hint of impatience in her voice, looking around at the other Rebels. "Well I think my illusions will come in handy when we want to stay hidden so I'll come on the Rescue team." Ace said nodding at Dawn who gave a short nod of agreement. "Right, I reckon I'll be best off fighting with the Attack team." Brenda said to instant nods. "I will go on the Arrack team with you, Brenda, if my parents are there, and they will be, I want to make them pay." Pandora said determinedly before Dawn put a hand on her shoulder. "I know you do. But make sure you're careful ok?" And Pandora nodded, calming down a little before Brenda turned their attention back to the matter in hand. "So do we know where the dungeons are?" Brenda asked the group as Loki and Eris returned, with a wickedly gleeful gleam in their eyes. "In the High Temple, I would think." Dawn replied. "It is the largest Temple in Olympus, they'd likely use that." "Very well. The High Temple it is then" Brenda said as the group looked determinedly at each. "Well? Let's go."
