♚ Chapter 7 ♚
I Hate Bombs With Passion!
There are lots of qualities that many people didn't know about me. One: I'm a voracious eater. Well, not all the time. There are times that my hunger is insatiable. My cousin often teases me about it, but I just ignored his remarks most of the time. My priority is my stomach.
Now, sitting in front of this two gentleman, I felt contented. My stomach is full, and my earlier dilemma is solved.
To think that I doubt the food serve in front of me.
"I'm amused by your appetite miss. Interesting," Cain commented not hiding his amusement and curiosity. I remained silent and just gave him a weak smile. I don't know why, but this guy gives me the creeps.
After the servants finished clearing the table, Axel finally spoke. "I believe it's about time to begin."
Cain's mischievous smile faded and was replace by a blank look. "It's best for everyone not needed in this deal to leave the room," He said seriously not looking away from me.
Does that mean I should also leave?
I don't see why not. As a matter of fact, he's already doing me a favor. I could leave this place while he keeps Axel busy. I still have a flight to catch.
Axel raised his right hand, giving everyone a signal to go. That's also my cue.
I stand up on my chair, but before I could even turn, Axel's hand found its way over my wrist making me halt. I looked at Axel bewildered. "Stay," Axel ordered.
"Wha-what?" I looked at him with confusion written all over my face.
"You'll be my advisor in this exchange," He said.
I look at him like he has grown another head. Is he out of his mind? How could I be his advisor in this matter? I don't even know what's going on. I'm confused.
"Just sit," He said.
Before I could even retort, we heard a clap followed by an excited tone saying, "Wonderful, wonderful!" It was Cain. He had a broad smile plastered on his face while watching us. He's clearly amused at the scene in front of him.
"It's a good choice to ask an opinion from a lady about this matter," He said enthusiastically. "But further delay will cost you your head," Cain added grimly making me sit back on my chair.
"Trust me," Axel says, surprising me.
Trust him? I scoffed. Yeah right. As if!
Worried for my safety, I look around the room. As expected, there are no guards around. It also makes me wonder if I am really needed here.
"Now, shall we?" Cain asked.
Axel didn't say anything, but Cain proceeds. He takes out the metal case he's holding earlier and starts opening it. After pressing a few numbers on the lock pad, I heard a click followed by the opening of the metal case. It revealed a small and worn out box in the middle. It has a few moss at the side, making it look old and dirty.
"More than billion euros for this baby if auction in the black market," Cain said proudly.
"What?" I accidentally blurted out loud. I can't help it. I just can't believe that thing costs that much.
Cain's gaze landed on me. Grinning like a lunatic, he said, "The box may look dirty and inexpensive, but-" He took out a dagger out of his sleeve, and stabs the wooden box, breaking it to pieces. "Beneath, it holds a priceless material called-,"
"Blue Stone of Queen Catherine," I finished his statement while I stared at the blue gemstone in shock.
"What do we have here. A stone enthusiasts!" I heard Cain commented. "The Gemstones of Queen Catherine is one of a kind treasure. Only five stones exist in the world, and one of them is this blue gemstone. During the ancient times, people believed that it contains unimaginable power that only the chosen owners are allowed to hold it. If a person who's unworthy of its power owns it, bad luck befalls them," He explained. "Seriously? Who believes that?" He snorted then laughs.
Not paying attention to what he's saying, I just stared at the stone.
'That stone is not real!' My subconscious speaks.
"The stone is not real," I said unconsciously. "It's not responding," I said cryptically. I was about to touch the stone when I heard Axel cleared his throat making me snapped out of my daze.
'What just happened?'
"What did you say?" Cain said. His are no longer playful and is looking at me blankly. There's a dangerous aura looming around him.
I gulped. This man gives me the creeps!
I moved uncomfortably on my seat. Cain's cold stare is making me nervous, frightened even.
Unconsciously, my hand find it's way to Axel's sleeve and tightly holds it. I'm glad he didn't remove it or else I don't know what to do.
Axel suddenly stands up from his seat and grabs my arm, "I believe it's about time to leave. The exchange is off," He said before taking his leave with me in tow.
This time, Cain loses his composure and slam his hands on the table at full force. "You can't be serious Axel!" Axel ignores Cain's outburst and drags me out of the room. "Leave this room and everyone will die." Cain threatened.
For the first time, I saw Axel smirk. "Know your place before threatening others," He said before we heard an explosion coming from outside. I shriek.
"You'll pay for this Axel!" Cain shouted.
Axel grabs my arm and we quickly run outside. When we reached the hallway, I saw a massive pile of men lying down on the floor. "Wha-what's happening here?" I asked horrified.
"Stop asking questions and keep going or we'll die," Axel said impatiently.
I stubbornly stop from running and screamed, "No!" I shove his hand off my wrist and take a step backward away from him. He took something out of his suit, it was a black gun and points it at me.
Oh my gosh! Is he going to kill me?
I close my eyes. I don't want to see this.
Bang!
I heard a gun shot. I expect to feel the pain, but there is none. When I opened my eyes, I saw Axel walking towards me and once again, grab my arm. "Stop being stubborn and run!" He ordered.
"But-"
"You almost died!" He said in frustration. I was taken aback by his sudden outburst.
He cares! I can't believe he cares.
"Let's go!" He said and without further ado, I comply.
As we made our way to the fire exit, screaming people and several gunshots echoed all through the entire building. It's like we're in a war zone. 'I can't believe this is happening.' I told myself in disbelief.
When we reach the parking lot of the building, I spotted my beetle parked in between two expensive looking cars. "Get in fast," Axel ordered as he scans the area. "Alright alright!" I said and quickly grab my keys to start the engine.
After a few minutes, I heard several gunshots fired coming from the elevator. It alarmed me since the elevator is just a few steps away from where we are. "Oh come on! Start!" I slam my hands onto the steering wheel out of frustration, and it miraculously starts.
It starts! Great!
Axel, in one swift movement, enters my car and sits on the passenger seat. "Go!" He shouted.
Why do I get the feeling I've done this before?
I quickly step onto the engine and the beetle starts to move.
Boom!
I heard something explode and the next thing I knew, the glass window at the back breaks. "Oh my God!" I exclaimed. The beetle sways because of the impact of whatever hit our car.
On my side mirror, I saw a group of men holding their guns, but what freak me out the most is the one holding the bazooka.
"What the! They got a bazooka!!!" I shriek.
"Shut up and focus on driving! You're breaking my concentration." Axel said. Irritation is evident in his voice.
"Concentration? Sorry to burst your bubble, mister but we're going to die unless we do something!" I said frustrated. I made a quick glance at Axel and saw him clicking something on his phone.
"What the hell are you even doing? This is not the best time to text someone-oh, my Goodness!'' I suddenly made a quick curve when I almost hit the wall.
"God damn it, woman! Keep your eyes on the road."
"Ugh! I'm working my way towards the exit even though I don't even know where it is!" I said in a panic.
"Let's bust this place out," He suddenly says out of the blue.
"Wait what!???"
"You want an exit? I'll give you one," Axel pushes a button on his phone. It was then, followed by a loud bang on the wall in front of us. "Now, there's your exit," Axel says cooly.
I just stared at the hole in the wall. "Which floor are we in?" I asked because the only thing I saw in that hole is the dark sky.
"No more questions, women. It's either you drive straight, or we die."
"I choose Neither!" I screamed.
I saw Axel smirk. "Then, I'll just give you no options other than going straight," He said before pushing a button on his phone and threw it out of the car.
"What did you just do?" I asked him, totally confuse by his actions. Moments later, I heard explosions. One by one, the cars inside the building starts to explode.
"Just go straight!" Axel smirk as he settled himself on his seat. He even put the seat belts on.
"I hate bombs with passion," I silently muttered. I don't know what possessed me to follow this guy, but the next thing I knew, we're flying.
"Oh my god!"I screamed as our car flew out of the building.
