Chapter:10

*Carly's POV*

I released a large breath out of my nose and balled my hands at my sides. The school in front of me was slightly smaller then my high school back home but that didn't help me to calm my raging nerves.

Xavier had just pulled his car into the senior parking lot of West Mount high school and nervous wasn't even a good word to describe what I was currently feeling. I have never been good at meeting new people so being the new girl at a new school isn't exactly at the top of my to do list.

I had woken up this morning fine and after I had gotten Aiden ready for the day and dropped him off with Melinda I had gotten into Xavier's car and he had driven me to school. Gracie had ridden to school with Collin while the others had driven their own vehicles.

"Hey, don't worry, you are going to be fine." Xavier suddenly spoke up, reaching over to place his large hand over my smaller one. My eyes darted to his and I gave him a small smile, feeling grateful that I had him with me to calm the nerves. He then gestured towards the doors in a somewhat questioning way and when I gave him a small nod he opened the drivers door, stepping out.

I knew that every student that was currently in the parking lot was watching so after I closed my eyes, took a deep breath, and counted to three I also stepped out of the sleek car. As soon as I had stepped out I felt the weight of multiple pairs of eyes on me and I probably would have run away if a large hand hadn't of been wrapped around my waist, gently leading me towards the school.

I didn't need to look to know that it was Xavier and I also didn't need to thank him in words because I knew that he could feel my gratitude as I let my body relax, molding myself to his side. I glanced around at the people in the parking lot and wasn't surprised to find many girls glaring at me while most of the guys wouldn't even dare to sneak a peak. I was aware that it looked like Xavier and I are a couple but I honestly couldn't care less, let people think what they want because I know the truth.

The inside of the school was plain with boring white walls and beige lockers connected to them. There wasn't nearly as many people in the school as there was outside but the few small groups that were hanging around the hall didn't stop themselves from staring at us for at least a few seconds. After a few more minutes of walking through the school Xavier led me through a door and into a small office.

A friendly looking lady sat at a small desk in front of us, quietly humming along to some unknown tune, and when Xavier politely cleared his throat her head snapped to us. When she realized that Xavier was present she slightly bowed her head in a respectful manner.

"Alpha, how may I help you?" She questioned in a sweet voice. Xavier flashed her a polite smile and then gestured to me.

"This is a new pack member of ours, Carly Faye, and today is her first day here so she is going to be needing her schedule." Xaviers voice was powerful and anybody, werewolf or mot, could feel the power that always lingered around him. The lady, who's name plate read Mrs. Jones, nodded her head and then started searching through a manila folder on her desk. After a few seconds she pulled out multiple papers.

"Here you are dear." Mrs. Jones said with a bright smile, handing the papers to me. Xavier and I both thanked her before walking back out in the hallway. The school had gotten a lot more crowded in the five minutes that we had been in the office but I didn't need to worry about being bumped into because people seemed to part for Xavier like the red sea.

Xavier asked for my schedule and I was disappointed to learn that we only had one class together, physical education, my least favorite subject. I began looking around the hallway for any of our other friends but known of them were in site. Suddenly the warning bell rang, a sign that it is time to get to class.

I looked up at Xavier to see that he was already staring intently at me, which caused me to blush. I quickly snapped my head down, all of a sudden taking an interest in my beat up converses. After a few seconds of slightly awkward silence Xavier cleared his throat. I slowly looked up at him and was pleased to see that there was a tint of pink to his cheeks and he had his hands clasped behind his back.

"Um if you want I can walk you to your first class." He offered, smiling when I nodded. Xavier went to reach for my hand but then a look of nervousness made and appearance on his face and he pulled him hand back. I quietly laughed before reaching out and taking his large hand in my own. I was staring straight ahead but I didn't miss the small smile that he gave me.

Xavier and I walked in a comfortable silence until he stopped outside a door and motioned to it.

"Well here we are, AP English." Xavier said. I glanced inside the classroom to see that it was nearly full and that most of the people inside were watching Xavier and I. Looking back up at Xavier I gave him a smile and didn't protest when he pulled me to his chest and wrapped his arms around my small frame. I returned the hug and then said goodbye afterwards, watching Xaviers back as he walked away.

A small sigh escaped my lips before I turned around and walked into the classroom, prepared to face the rest of the day.

..

By the time that lunch rolled around I was exhausted. I cant even begin to describe how annoying people can be at timed. I honestly just wanted to be left alone but I guess that I should have known that it wasn't going to happen, especially since people now think that Xavier and I are a couple. I had denied it to the first ten or so people that had asked if we are a couple or not but after that I just got tired of constantly answering the same question over and over again so I chose to simply ignore anyone that asked.

I am aware that it is rude to be that way towards my new pack mates, because they are just curious, but its either that or snap at them, which is even more rude. I sluggishly made my way towards the lunch room, Xavier had pointed it out earlier, and sighed when I smelt food. I had just entered the crowded room when I felt an arm slip around my waist and though Xavier is the reason that everybody thinks that we are a couple I couldn't help but to relax into him.

I am honestly so confused about Xavier. Over the last few weeks he has been so welcoming and nice to me, always there when I need him, and I cant even explain how it makes me feel when he takes care of Aiden. He has been such a good friend but at times it doesn't feel like he is just a friend. I don't know exactly how I feel about Xavier but I do know that I am not ready for a relationship any time soon, and I don't think that he is either.

I slightly shook my head, deciding that I would think more about it later when I got home, and followed Xavier to the lunch line. We quickly received our food and made our way to a table that held all of our friends. We sat down at the large round table and I glanced around at everybody.

Gracie was perched on Collins lap, laughing at something that had been said, while Faith sat across from them, scrolling on her phone. Noah and Seth sat across from each other, childishly throwing fries at one another. When Xavier and I sat down Gracie looked up at us and gave us a large smirk.

"Ah look, its the new couple." She teased, causing everybody to laugh. I felt my cheeks slightly redden and when I looked over to Xavier I saw that he was shaking his head but a small smile was present.

"I don't know why everybody thinks that we are a couple." Xavier said once everybody had stopped laughing. Gracie raised her eyebrows at him.

"Seriously? It couldn't have anything to do with the fact that you were holding hands and that you give any guy who looks at her a death glare." Gracie said sarcastically. I also raised an eyebrow when I heard the last part and when I looked at Xavier I noticed that it was his turn to blush. I also laughed when I saw the almighty alpha cross his arms over his broad chest and pout.

He is adorable.

..

The end of the day couldn't come soon enough and I let out a long, dramatic sigh when I got into Xaviers car after school. Xavier chuckled and started the car up, pulling out of the parking lot.

"It was that bad huh?" He questioned as I messed with the radio. I slightly shrugged my shoulders and turned to look at him.

"People are just nosy that's all." I answered as my eyes fluttered shut. Xavier was quiet for a few moments before he spoke again.

"If its bothering you then I'll say something." He said. I frowned and pursed my lips.

"It doesn't bother me that they think that it just bothers me that they don't know when to stop asking questions." I spoke truthfully. I saw Xavier nod his head from the corner of my eyes, a determined look was on his face.

"I'll tell everybody the truth and then they'll hopefully leave you alone." He said. I gave him a thankful look and then closed my eyes, relaxing after a long day.

The second I walked into the house a tiny little thing crashed into my legs, causing me to sway backwards.

"Mommy!" Aiden cried out, wrapping his arms around my legs. I laughed before bending over and scooping him into my arms. Aiden stared at me excitedly before wrapping his arms around my neck and burying his head there.

"I missed you mommy." My little one muttered. I smiled softly and hugged my son back. Aiden isn't used to being away from me for so long and I know that he is most probably going to have a hard time adjusting to it.

"I missed you too baby." I answered him, looking into his green eyes when he pulled away from my neck. I was Melinda walking towards me and I gave her a questioning look.

"Oh no need to worry dear, he was just fine, gave me no trouble at all." The woman answered my question before I even got the chance to ask it. I laughed and thanked her for looking after him. Aiden suddenly made an excited noise and started reaching for something behind me.

"Xav! Xav!" Aiden yelled, reaching for Xavier who stood behind me. I laughed before turning and handing my son over to Xavier who was wearing a large smile.

"Look its my favorite little man." Xavier exclaimed as he snatched Aiden from my arms, spinning him around above his head. Aiden's high pitched laughter filled the room and I couldn't help but to let a large smile stretch across my lips. That sound is my favorite sound in the world.
