Chapter 27 - That Voice

–——— • ———–
A YEAR LATER
————————

I walked behind two tall girls, one blonde and other brunette, with a few, very few others on my back. We all wore huge smiles on our faces as we walked over to the stage from the backstage, with microphones in our hands.

The auditorium was filled with people on their seats, chatting with each other or curiously waiting for the event to begin. There were lights all over the place, in various colors, dancing all around, and musical instruments were lightly being played by the musicians.

The choir team, who were all youngesters in their late teenage and early twenties, stood in their positions by one corner as I, with others, walked over to stand in the front. My gaze travelled to my right; my smile widened and my spirit rose as my eyes locked with the eyes of the person I've been searching for, whose smile was wider than mine. Our pastor asked everyone to get up on their feet and bow their heads as he started to say a prayer, welcoming God's presence, before he left the stage.

There was a dead silence before the loud –but totally unfamiliar– melody started, my feet moved to its rythm as I adjusted the earphone bud in my ear.

And someone began the song.

My eyes fluttered open and I glanced around me. It was dark, with only dim lights managing to lit up the space. I heard a cute snoring just above my head and I lifted my head up from my brother's shoulder, to see him sleeping with his headphones on. We were in the airplane, flying from Chicago to Israel, not on a stage with disco lights.

Yes, I wasn't in a stage nor were there any lights or anyone with me than my brother beside me, and I realized, it was just a dream.

Just a dream, but pretty strange.

I glanced over my watch and saw there's still six hours left to reach to Ben Gurion airport in Tel Aviv and without second thought, my head found its pillow that was my brother's shoulder, before my tired eyelids shut close, slipping to slumber again.

*****

“Can you please play the Giant Advacher, please?”

“It's adventure.”

“Whatever.”

“Wait. You mean, Superbook's Giant Adventure?”

“Of cour–”

“David and Goliath!”

“Yes.”

“Oh, Rachel, Rachel, please...”

“Can you please play it for us?”

“Once we're done with this, I promise to play it for you, sweethearts.” Rachel replied with her unfailing kind smile.

Whispers broke out as protests.

“Maybe we should ask Hailey.”

“Oh no, no, no.” I protested immediately, looking up from Rachel's laptop at once and saw several puppy eyes on me. I sighed, “I'm sorry pumpkins, let's do as Rachel said, we'll rehearse this one more time–”

“We've been rehearsing for ages!”

“Yes, come on Hailey!”

I facepalmed.

It wasn't the first time I've been facepalming over a small bunch of little children I've been helping my friend Rachel here in Jerusalem, in our community, to prepare them for an upcoming event held for kids, to inspire them to grow in Christ.

“Rache...” I looked up, glancing at my friend, who looked down at the puppy eyed munchkins with her ever so kind smile.

Rachel sighed in defeat, “Okay then,” just as those two words fell from her mouth, a loud cheer rose from the kids, making us both laugh. “But we're going to rehearse that again after this. Do we have a deal?”

“Deal!” all of them cheered in one voice, hurrying to their seats in front of the white screen where I had now prepared the episode to play.

I would have really wanted to watch it with them together but suddenly I remembered the dream I had in the flight, while sleeping. First I didn't made a big deal out of it, but then, I felt a strange feeling inside me that it wasn't just a dream but God is trying to tell me something through it. I asked God about it, but He didn't answer, instead, He made a movement in my heart to share it with Rachel.

I walked over to where Rachel stood by the window, glancing outside. “Rache,” I called, “Do you have a moment?”

“Of course.” the kind lady smiled, turning to face me. “What's it?”

“I had a dream when I was in the airplane, flying to here. And I felt moved that, I should share it with you.” I said.

Rachel nodded, gesturing me to go on.

I explained the dream to her. I tried to share every detail of it with her as much as I can remember. The auditorium, was undoubtedly our own community's auditorium and the people with me –the choir, the girls who walked with me and the person, a boy if I may say, I was sharing huge smiles with– did indeed felt familiar to me when I was seeing the dream but now, I couldn't make out who were they.

Rachel kept smiling and nodding all the way to the end and then she spoke. “Do you know what this means?”

I shook my head, “No.”

“God is showing you something to take place in the future, and He has chosen you to do it.” she said.

My jaw dropped, “Wh–what?”

“You said that the choir team, musicians and the lead vocals all were youngesters, and none of them were grown-ups.” Rachel said, thinking. “So I think, God is planning for a music concert for young musicians in our land.” she said and shrugged her eyebrows, impressed. “That's one big thing God has given you, Hailey and I know you'll do great by His grace.”

I blinked twice, I couldn't believe my ears. “Whoa, I definitely not understand anything.” I said, receiving an amused look from Rachel and I corrected my words. “I mean, I can't believe it.”

Rachel smiled, “I know you can't, I couldn't myself too when He gave me a vision to do this that I'm doing now.” she said, gesturing to the excited children who have their eyes fixed on screen, watching the Superbook episode. “I understand why God told you to share it with me, because I was moved to share mine with some others as well, who, in future, helped me to fulfill God's will.”

I listened to every word she said, letting them sink in. “So God wants a youth concert to take place.”

“Yeah,” Rachel nodded, “And He has made you in charge of it.”

“That's the thing.” I said, “Why me? Who am I? How can I do that?”

“You're not alone, Hailey. You need to understand that first.” Rachel assured me. “First seek God's help and wisdom, and everything else will follow after you. And, we are all here to help you out.”

That made me smile. “Thank you.”

“No problem.” Rachel smiled. “Since God revealed His will to you, I want you to ask Him for further steps we need to take, like, who should be the members and... let Him tell you everything or... we'll try to sort it out.”

I nodded, “Mmm.. right, may–

“Oy, Rachel!!” a familiar male voice called from outside the door, that belonged to my brother's friend Gideon. “Where are you?”

“The team is here!” another male voice called out for Rachel, a youthfully rich and jovial an but unfamiliar one. “Who casually forgot to bring their flashlights.”

Rachel and I chuckled at the last comment. I tried to ignore how my heart just shook at the sound of that voice. Not with fear, but with a strangely familiar feeling that even gave me butterflies.

“I'm coming!” Rachel shouted out to them before turning to me. “We'll talk about this later, okay? Oh, and, you'll take care of their rehearsal once they finish Superbook, right?” she asked me in a hurry.

“Of course, I will. Off you go then.” I assured her.

Rachel walked over to the door before telling the kids that she's leaving me in charge and they should obey me. I literally rolled my eyes as no one responded; they all had their nose struck at the screen.

There was a Kid's Camp coming up, which Rachel was hosting, and we were preparing for the event with all this and that. The guys who have just arrived outside the door were the videographers and team, brought by Gideon, to record a motivating video of the upcoming event, to welcome every kids who are interested.

I sat down on a couch behind the kids, just barely giving my attention on the screen. My mind was wondering with what I just heard from Rachel. Me? God wants me to do such thing? I couldn't believe it.

But a part of me was confidentially telling me that I can do this.

Maybe, this is the whole reason why God wanted me to be here. My family didn't had any plans for an Israeli trip this summer but God was telling me that I should come to here. Though I hesitated, I told my parents about this and they agreed without questioning to let me go to Israel. And my brother, not wanting to ever let me go alone, gladly joined me, with our parents staying behind this time.

We left Chicago the very next day my school was over. I asked Emmy if she'll be coming to Israel this year as well, but her family was going to her mom's place in Canada in a few days and as for Harry... he said, his dad is planning on a family leisure trip after a long while, but he still don't know where were they going.

Anyway, I've always got Rex here; but apparently today, her worst week caught up with her, so she couldn't join me today because of her stomachache.

I was pulled back from my thoughts when the screen, where Superbook was playing, went blank with black in color and all the little pumpkins had their heads turned back at me. Some of them were ready to go back to rehearsal while the others still held the puppy eyes, silently begging me to let them watch another episode.

I shook my head, “No more puppy eyeses.” I said, standing up from the couch and took Rachel's laptop into my hands. “Back to our practices. Everyone, take your positions!” I gathered them, clapping my hands together.

During the practices, which were action songs for the kids, sometimes I got overly distracted by this attractive voice I was hearing often and often from outside the door where the videographers teams were setting up everything for tomorrow's recording.

The voice was of a boy, probably older than my fifteen-and-half-year-old self. It was the same voice that called out to Rachel some moments ago, saying the videographers have forgotten their flashlights.

Something funny was going on in the atmosphere, that brought the feeling of knowing who could be the owner of this voice.

Probably someone handsome?

Oh shut it!

I brought my mind back to focusing on the rehearsal, yet it was slipping away sometimes. But that was until the kids started complaining about a move in the song.

“It's so difficult.”

“Can't even reach to it.”

“Why can't we try any other move instead, Hailey?”

“I'll probably hit my head on floor if I try that move once again.”

“Come on!” I stifled a laugh, “It's not that hard.”

“Not for you, because you've got big legs.”

Big legs?

Long legs.” one of them corrected the boy who made the mistake.

I stopped myself from facepalming again; helping Rachel with these kids really taught me so much about patience, and I hope, I could be more patient like Rachel one day, in the end.

“Alright, we'll see what we can do.” I gave up, as I always do with them in various cases at various circumstances, and got up to my feet to figure out a new easy move for them.

I wasn't a dancer, I never liked dancing at all. But with Rachel, seeing her teaching her students things like this, I got to learn and figure out some moves on my own as well.

“How's that?” I asked the kids, after showing them a one-round-turn move; if that's what I can call it.

“Even better.” one of them said, after trying it. And within a minute, all of them had succeeded to make that new move.

I clapped my hands, impressed at them. “Let's try from the beginning now, shall we?” I asked them, replaying the music.

As the music began, I found myself taking each steps alongside them, now fully focused into this, while suddenly the door opened. My whole body came to an abrupt stop, not wanting anyone to see me dancing, especially any boys, around whom I'm so uncomfortable. But to my relief, it was only Yoyakim and Esther, Rex's little twin siblings.

I straightened my back, “Ten points from the Katerblocks for being late.” I said, as they both bounced towards me, closing the door.

“What?” Esther pouted. “We're not even participating!”

I laughed, “I was only joking.” I opened my arms to give both of them a hug. “How did you know I was here?”

“Rex told us.” Yoyakim said. “So, how are–”

“How's Rex?” I asked.

“Getting better, I think.” Esther shrugged, making me wonder if she know about it.

“What happened to her anyway?” Yoyakim asked his twin. “She's always sick once in every month.”

“I dunno, she wouldn't tell.”

“Maybe it's because she stole Nathan's doughnut yesterday.” Yoyakim said, thinking.

“What?” I bit back a laugh. “What do you mean?”

Esther smiled coyly, “He's saying that she got stomachache because she stole Nathan's doughnut yesterday.” she explained and turned to her brother with her both hands on hip. “But hey, don't just blame her. You and I ate from that same doughnut too. So wouldn't we be feeling the same?”

I rolled my eyes, smiling at them.

“What?!” Yoyakim's eyes went wide, “I didn't ate that one.”

Esther smirked, “Then where do you think I got the half doughnut piece I shared with you?”

Yoyakim groaned, letting himself fall on the couch, “Ugh, fine!”

Esther and I giggled. “So, how's the rehearsal going?” she asked.

“Not bad.” I said. “There was this hard move which they wanted me to turn into something easier.... so yeah, it's going just fine.”

A smile suddenly broke into Esther's face as if she remembered something she had forgotten, and motioned me to lean down to her, welcoming to tell me a secret.

“Did you see that?” she whispered to my ear.

“See what?” I asked curiously.

“Don't try to look, but...” she paused to giggle a little. “I saw a boy watching you from the window before I came in.”

My heart skipped a beat. A boy?

“What boy?” I asked, gulping.

“I don't know his name,” Esther continued whispering, shoving off her twin's head, who tried to hear what she was telling me. “but Nathan knows, he's a friend of him.”

I hummed to myself, straightening up from my leaning position, but Esther stopped me quickly. “Don't glance at the window, okay?” her whispering voice made me chuckle.

“I won't, dear.” I said, ruffling her brunette hair, before turning to the still-dancing ever-so-obedient kids. “Alright, that's enough for now, well done all of you!” I said, clapping my hands for them. “Get some rest now, ok–”

“Hailey,” I heard Rachel call my name and saw her popping her head thought the gap of the opened door. “Can you please come over here?”

“Of course.” I stood up from my seat and walked towards the door, curious to know why am I being called. “What's it?” I asked Rachel as I reached her.

Rachel led me out, to the room where the recording settings were put up. My heart began to beat faster from remembering what I just heard from Esther, and I couldn't help but wonder if the voice I found attractive belongs to the person whom she saw looking at me through the window.

Anyway, whatever it is, I'm definitely not going to like it because I've grown more nervous and uncomfortable around boys more than last year.

Chewing my inside cheeks, I followed Rachel into the room, where there were more than five boys were present, making my anxiety increase.

Jesus, I need your help.

Several heads turned to my side when I entered, and two except all others turned back to their works. One, a tall boy in his early twenties with dark hair and blue eyes and holding a pile of papers in his hands, whom I've never seen before, flashed me a smile, which I returned politely, careful not to shudder visibly. While the other one who had dirty blonde hair, who was setting up the camera and things, kept looking up at me from his work, time to time. He smiled a tad, and I smiled back nervously before looking away immediately. I looked around but Gideon wasn't there, and all of them except Rachel were strangers to me.

“This is her?” the first boy asked, glancing at Rachel from me. “Haxsel's sister?”

“You know my brother?” I blurted out, before I could stop.

The boy smiled, pleased. “Of course, he's a friend.” and stuck out his hand towards me. “Timothy Emerest.”

I hesitated, glancing down at his welcoming hand and took it, not wanting to be rude to avoid. “My brother has a lot of friends and I don't know most of them. But it's nice to meet you, I'm Hayline.” I said as we shook hands.

Rachel took the papers from Timothy's hands, “So, Carla was supposed to say these in the video tomorrow but, unfortunately, she texted me some moments ago, saying she's got a throat infection.” she said, running her long fingers through the writings in the paper.

“Ow, that's bad.” I frowned.

“But that's alright because Rachel says you can take her place.” Timothy spoke.

I pointed my index finger at me, “Me?”

“Yes, I know you can do this, Hailey, we have no much time to look for someone else.” Rachel said, furrowing her eyebrows.

I bit my lip, as much as I don't want to do this, I can't let Rachel down. I reached for the papers from her hand and she showed me the paper, just one that's for me, and the words written in them in neat handwriting.

“See, it's easy.” Timothy said, encouragingly. “Just a few words and you'll only need one night to prepare for it.”

“It's not the speech I'm worried about.” I said, looking around the room. “I'm not a big friend of camera, especially when it's pointed at me.” I chuckled nervously. But that's not the whole point, I was anxious around boys, especially strangers.

“Come on, Hailey. You are supposed to lead a youth concert in the future, and you can take this as a first step towards it, facing the camera.” Rachel said, ever so encouragingly and partly cheeky.

I sighed, she's got a point.

“A what?” Timothy asked Rachel.

“God has given Hailey a vision about a youth music concert.” she said, smiling.

“Really?” Timothy asked surprised, glancing at me for confirmation. I nodded dumbly, blushing a tad. “Whoa, that's really awesome. Maybe you should....”

My ears failed to give attention to the rest of the words Timothy spoke, as I heard a couple of male voices entering the suit we were in. And my heart suddenly vibrated as I recognized that attractive voice from earlier, among them.

I curiously glanced aside towards the door, expecting to see the owner of that voice. A tall boy around eighteen came in, carrying a tall stand on his shoulder and placed it down as he got in. He had dark hair and when he looked up –I noticed that he has blue eyes like Timothy– and saw Timothy, the corner of his lips twitched. “Well done, bro.” he said, stretching his back. “Never... do this again.” he finished with a groan.

But, that voice definitely wasn't his.

Then whose?

“Thanks Emmett.” Timothy snorted, rolling his eyes and turned to me. “That's my younger brother.” he told me. “I forgot to bring the flashlights.”

I chuckled, “I heard someone say so.”

“So?” Rachel asked eagerly, waiting for my decision.

I hesitated again.

“Come on, you can do this.” Timothy said, affectionately. “Trust me.”

Sorry, I don't trust anyone.

I took a deep breath and looked at Rachel, nodding. “I'll do it.”

Rachel smiled satisfied. “I knew you would, as I know you'll do great.”

Timothy opened his mouth to say something when he got interrupted by his brother. “Where to set these, Tim?”

“Please excuse me,” Timothy excused himself from us and walked over to his brother, whom I eyed suspiciously. Could this be the same Emmett who conquered Rex's heart?

Rex told me a few months ago that she's in love with a boy named Emmett, but not yet dating. And I wonder if his last name was Emerest, from what I recall from my conversation with her, a while ago. She's been keeping it in her heart like how Emmy was still doing with her feelings for Harry, and has only told this to me, Emmy and a close friend of hers from school.

I tore my eyes away from the videographer team when I saw that dirty blonde guy looking at me, and Rachel started telling me her plans for tomorrow's recording and timings. And that's when I heard that attractive voice again.

“Hey Gid!” the voice called Gideon.

I quickly glanced at the doorway because the voice seemed so closer, and saw Gideon had just walked in and turned when that voice called him. I didn't tear my eyes from the doorway, hoping to get a glimpse of the owner of the voice that has made a tug on my heartstrings, but the person never came in; all I could see was his pale left hand with an elegant black watch on its wrist, placed on a side of the doorway. I tried to move a bit forth so I could get a small glimpse if I try to peek, but it didn't success with a talking Rachel on my side.

But I didn't miss what he said.

“I've gotta see someone, I'll see you by the ground floor.” and with that, the hand disappeared, signalling that the person has left too, as soon as Gideon nodded in agreement.

I had an argue that I couldn't fight off, to leave this room quickly. “Erm.... Rache?” I called uncertainly, not caring that I was cutting off her words she was speaking to me. “Do you mind if I go back? The kids are alone there.” I gestured my hand towards the door.

“Oh my!” Rachel almost gasped, “Of course, I almost forgot that.”

“That's okay.” I patted her back and hurried to the door as she called after me to see her before I leave for home. I said a quick okay and hurried out, coming out straight to the main room of the suit, my eyes quickly finding the exit door, where I saw a small glimpse of a person's back disappearing as he was closing the door behind him. It might be definitely him.

Dark brown curls, tall, slim-fit body figure wearing a dark yellow and white stripped t-shirt and denim jeans.

That's all I got to take in, before I myself walked towards the exit door, to chase after a boy like I've never did before. I didn't know what was happening or going on with me; all I had heard was just a voice of a boy, which, I must admit, has had me enchanted by it.

But when my hand almost reached for the door handle, Esther's voice stopped me. “Oh there you are Hailey!” she exclaimed. “Can you please come in here?”

I turned to her with an apologetic look. “Oh Estie, I'm sorry, but I really need to–”

“But this is important!” she ran up to me and grabbed my arm. “That black-haired girl is trying to do something on Rachel's laptop and wouldn't obey us!”

Rachel's laptop.

I groaned in my head and casted a helpless and hopeless look at the door, before following Esther.

*****

That whole night I couldn't sleep. Anxious over my speech for next day and... wondering about the owner of that voice. I had sworn to myself that I'd never go after a boy, but what was I doing now?

Just trying to know who that voice belongs to, right?

Haxsel tried his best encouraging me that I can do the speech, and was more happy to hear about my vision and God's plan. Though his encouragements weren't enough for me to build up my confidence, I didn't show my anxiety out in front of him because, what if he offers himself to come along? Then I couldn't have a chance to try finding the owner of that voice.

I got up from my bed and poured out my heart before God, once again, asking for his wisdom and help for everything. And then, I didn't realize how fast I fell asleep.

*****

The next morning, I walked out of the room where everyone were scattered around, preparing for the recording. Feeling nothing but tension, even with the cheerful presence of Rex around, I decided to excuse myself out to clear my mind and ease my heart. Eventually, I found myself walking out of the suit itself, to be alone for a moment before my speech recording comes.

I grabbed my star-of-david pendant in my hand, trying to squeeze it in my sweaty palm, pacing here and there, chewing my inner cheeks. About five minutes later, the door of the suit opened, revealing Rex.

“Oh there you are!” she said, stepping out and closing the door behind her. “I was wondering where on earth had you disappeared to.”

I fought the argue to roll my eyes and instead shot a quick smile at her. “I just wanted some fresh air.”

“Fresh air?” she repeated, glancing around. “If you're trying to get some fresh air, then I suggest you–”

This time I did roll my eyes. “I'm only trying to clear my mind.”

Rex tilted her head and smiled softly, before she walked up to the pacing me, grabbing my arm and stopping me. “What's wrong?”

“Nervous.”

“Come on,” Rex chuckle silently, “It's just a small speech. After all, you don't have to face an auditorium full of people.”

I bit my lip and released it as I tasted my strawberry lipgloss. “I've told you before, I'm so so uncomfortable around boys, especially when there's someone looking at me from time to time.” I sighed, remembering that dirty blonde boy, who has been looking at me from time to time, as same as yesterday, making my stomach curl up.

Rex smiled, mockingly. “Yeah, I noticed that there's a guy who's found an interest in you.”

I shudder, “Please don't support it, I'm trying to runaway.”

“Well, don't.” Rex groaned, “Come on, Hailey! Stop running away from all the boys! How can you ever know who is the one God has meant for you if you keep running away?”

“That's been in my mind too.” I sighed. “That's why sometimes I feels like I'm hopeless for love.”

“Nonsense.” Rex glared at me. “Hailey, Jesus spoke directly to you–

“I know, I know.” I cut her off, “It's just my stupid thoughts.”

“Well, don't feed them then.” she said firmly.

I smiled coyly, amused by the seriousness of her voice.

“Hailey, I'm being serious.” Rex said. “Be positive and try to make some friends, without getting much closer to them.”

I rolled my eyes, “I'll think about that.” I said, and suddenly remembered that I haven't told her about the attractive voice I heard yesterday. “Though, something happened yesterday.”

She arched an eyebrow at me.

“There was this voice I heard, which belonged to a boy, it was rich, young, full of laughter, cool... and I felt it shaking my heart. It was... attractive and I tried to chase after it, to see who does that belongs to.” I paused and pouted. “But failed.”

Rex's eager face fell, and she frowned. “That was so... close.”

“I know,” I sighed, looking straight ahead of the hallway, where the owner of that voice had probably walked off to, yesterday. “But I hope to find out again since I know he's part of our community somehow.”

Rex smiled, over the moon. “Emmett has an attractive voice too.” she said barely above a whisper, unable to control her smile.

I smirked at her, “Then why don't you tell him that?” I asked.

“I don't know...” Rex sighed, blushing a tad. “We haven't spoke to–

“Excuse me?” a familiar male voice asked, and turning, we sae Emmett, poking his head out of the door of the suit, glancing at the both of us.

“Yes?” I replied, since I was pretty sure, Rex would be too shocked to speak a word out. Just one glance at her side proved that she's indeed off guard.

“Rekenzel, Rachel is calling for you.”

I tried all my best to control the smile that made my lips tremble as I heard him call her name. Sweet, he knows her.

Rex shook herself out of the moon and nodded, mumbling an okay, before walking up to where he stood. I watched the two of them, and especially the way Emmett was looking at Rex, with a very small smile. All I can do is to pray that everything will work out good for the both of them if they're meant to be together.

Just as Rex got inside, after smiling a tad at Emmett, and before Emmett had closed the door behind him, I heard Rachel's voice from inside, followed by Emmett opening the door again, looking at me. “She's calling for you.” he said, gesturing inside.

I heart began to beat faster as I got into the suit, mumbling a thanks to Emmett for holding the door, preparing mentally for the speech.

But I wasn't called in for the speech, thanks to God.

“Hailey, if you don't mind, can you please go down and get pastor Thomas?” Rachel asked me as I entered. “We're about to start recording, and it'd be good if he's here, to give us any instructions if we need.”

I took out my phone, “Didn't you tried calling him?”

“The line is busy.” Rachel said.

“Okay then,” I retreated towards the exit, “I'll be back.” I shot a quick nod at Rex's way, who nodded back in response, still slightly pink on cheeks. I chuckled as I exited the suit, she reminded me of Emmy, who couldn't stop blushing at least the slightest, when Harry is around.

I shook my head, smiling about both my besties. They both have find someone who has captured their hearts and I was so happy for them as they would be for me. But I was nowhere close to feeling anything for anyone any sooner.

I took my turn to the staircase, climbing down. I glanced down at my phone, wondering if I should try to call pastor Thomas on my own, when, as I reached to the left turn to continue the stairs, I bumped into something.

Or someone.

It was solid but soft and warm. “Oh I'm so sorry!” I quickly apologized, carefully taking my step back, pulling me out of the person I've collided into.

I felt a soft touch on my bare arm, making the muscles in my stomach to churn and the hair on the back of my arm to stand up. Then I heard the person speak, “It's fine, it's alright.”

My heart suddenly skipped a beat as I recognized the voice; that voice.

Everything happened so quickly.

I looked up immediately, to see the owner of that voice I've been trying to find. When my brown eyes met with his emerald green ones, I froze.

It was as if I forgot how to breathe, and the world around me seemed to be blur when I looked into those eyes. My grip on my phone loosened and it fell down; but for the first time in forever, I didn't care. I didn't care that my phone fell and it'd have broken, I didn't care to bend down and take it, I didn't even care to glance down at my phone to see if it's alright or not.

It was like I couldn't move. I was literally frozen.

Because standing before me, right in front of my eyes, just inches away from me, was him.

Rilden Green.
