I had been living at the Avengers for a little bit under a month now. I was friends with all of the Avengers, but I liked Jarvis the most. He would speak to me about a variety of subjects when I was bored and/or couldn't sleep.

The team was currently on a mission while I stayed in the tower. They were stealing Loki's scepter from Strucker and I couldn't face that man again. I thought I would catch up on some sleep while they were away.

I was back at the facility where I was experimented on. There was flashes of the needles and it was like I could feel everything from the burning pain to my skin bubbling. I was screaming, "Someone help me!" Strucker looked at me, "Ellie. Ellie wake up."

I sat straight up in my bed. I soon realized I was crying. I wiped my tears away and I jumped at the voice of Jarvis, "Ms Barker, are you okay? Your heart rate is elevated and you seem to be bleeding." I looked down to see various spots where I was bleeding, "I'm ok Jarvis. I must've just scratched myself in an attempt to get up in my sleep. And how many times have I told you it's ok to call me Ellie."

I smiled as the English voice spoke again, "I apologize Ellie. The team will be back soon. Is there anything I can do in the meantime​?" I thought before responding, "Is there a way for you to read to me or tell me a story? My dad used to read to me when I had nightmares as a little girl." Jarvis said, "Yes. Of course. Is there anything in particular you wish for me to read?" I paused to think, "This might be a bit childish, but how about Beauty and the Beast?"

Jarvis replied, "It isn't childish at all. It's a Disney classic. Of course I'll tell it to you." I said, "I'm going to get something to bandage this up with, a snack, and a drink." He explained, "Ok."

I went out of my room to get the things I needed. I returned to my room holding bandages off different sizes, a glass of water, and a variety of snacks. There were rice krispie treats, celery sticks and carrots. I started bandaging the areas that were bleeding. Jarvis asked, "Are you ready?" I replied, "Yes."

I finally finished bandaging after using 6 bandages and started eating my celery sticks and carrots while Jarvis started reading, "Once upon a time, in a faraway land, a young prince lived in a shining castle. Although he had everything his heart desired, the prince was spoiled, selfish, and unkind."

I finally was calm since waking up from my dream. Jarvis continued, but I realized my glass of water shaking. I asked, "Jarvis, is someone else in the building?" The AI stopped reading and the lights went off. I paniced and asked, "Jarvis, what's happening?" The voice never came and the lights hadn't come back on yet.

I reached for the gun Phil Coulson gave me the day he saved me from Struckers's goons. I snuck down the hallway trying to find the cause of the blackout. I see lights on everywhere else, so I suspected there was someone in the building that made the lights go off and shut Jarvis down.

In the dark there was a male figure wearing a black hoodie and face mask. I went to pull the trigger, but he was already by me and knocked the gun out of my hand. He took my arm and twisted it. He kicked me in the back of the knee, knocking me onto the ground. I hadnt trained alot, so I was easily over powered. He turned me on my back and took out a few knives, "This is from Strucker." He stabbed my shoulder. He took another one and stabbed my other shoulder. He took his last knife and stabbed my in the stomach. I screamed from the pain. The lights went on and the man was shot off of me. I turned my head and Tony was behind me with some of the team. Steve yelled, "She's losing a lot of blood. Someone needs to get her to the med bay fast." Thor walked up to me and picked me up. I screamed again.

Thor told me, "Stay awake Lady Barker. " I groaned in pain, "I'll try my hardest." The Asgardian​ ran to the elevator, carefully holding me in his arms. I was so out of it that it was like I was slipping in and out of consciousness. We were finally at the med bay. I saw a glimpse of Nat and Clint before I was set on a bed. My mind going back to that one day.

I cried and yelled, "Don't hurt me. I didn't do anything. Strucker leave me alone!" I heard a female voice, "We need her to calm down." I was being held down. I cried out again, "No more needles." I heard a familiar male voice, "I may be of service." The voice seemed to calm me a little bit. The voice continued, "But then, one winter's night, an old beggar woman came to the castle and offered him a single rose in return for shelter from the bitter cold. Repulsed by her appearance, the prince sneered at the gift and turned the old woman away, but she warned him not to be deceived by appearances, for beauty was found within."

Jarvis stopped as I was calmed enough to assess the situation again. I was stabbed by a guy working for Strucker, and brought to the med bay by Thor. I was currently on a bed surrounded by the team and a woman I had never seen before. They all had saddened looks on their faces. The woman spoke, "Hello. My name is Helen Cho. You must be Ellie Barker." I nodded, "Hi. Sorry for any inconveniences I may have caused."

Steve stepped closer, "It's not your fault, Ellie. The man who stabbed you is downstairs in a containment cell and is waiting to be interrogated." I gave him a half smile and said, "Thanks everyone." Helen spoke again, "You are laying under what is known as the cradle. It is rebuilding your damaged tissue as we speak. In fact, we only have about another minute or two before the cell regeneration is complete. Try to be still."

I smiled, "Will I still be able to function normally?" She nodded. Tony spoke up, "You'll be good to go before the party Saturday." I sighed, "You know parties aren't my thing right?" He replied, "Yes, but you're still going. Isn't that right Jarvis?" The English voice answered, "Yes sir." I rolled my eyes and said, "Thanks for the help Jarvis." He spoke back, in a surprisingly sarcastic tone of voice, "My pleasure."
