Chapter 45
We finally found another hotel, but this one is much smaller and next to a road. The lady wanted more of the papers than the other humans wanted. The room is cute and there's two beds, a television, and a bathroom. It's small.
He put me on the bed farthest from the windows, window hog. So, what did I do about it? I hopped on the bed with him. The view outside the windows is an open land of grass and mountains in the far back. Nothing truly remarkable.
"Why are you here?"
"Windows."
He sighs before taking the curtain from my hand and pulling it to the side. "There, now get off."
"But I want to bother you."
He lays down and hits my bum with his shin. "Not today."
"Yes, today. Wanna dance again?"
"No."
I get off the bed and hop onto the other one. There are no stores or markets around to get honey. "Do you think there is a beehive around?"
He stares out the window. "Nope."
"We need honeyyyyyyyy. It's the end of the worlllddddd."
A pillow hits my face. Ow. I throw the pillow back at him. He sits back up and hugs the pillow. "You'll be fine."
"No I won't. Want to braid each other's hair?"
"Why?"
"Why not? Aren't you bored?"
"No."
"Are you ever bored?"
"No."
"What do you do in your free time?"
"Nothing."
"How boring."
He nods. The conversation dies, but doesn't most of our conversations die? Yes, I talk a lot, but he doesn't.
"Why don't you talk a lot?"
"Don't need to."
"That's blasphemy. Talking is wonderful and we all need to talk."
He shakes his head before taking the book out the bag and reading it. Well, there went my entertainment. I get my poor old dress from beside me and walk to the bathroom. The small room isn't as pretty and is quite small. Why are all the human's rooms so small? I wouldn't even make a mouse live in something so small.
I turn the water contraption on and listen to it scream in agony before cold water comes out of it. I throw my dress on the floor, under the water. How long shall it stay here till it's clean? How long till it's dry? Cleaning clothes is so complicated. When I get home, I'm going to appreciate all the workers even more.
I'll give them all flowers every day, that should work. I walk back to the main room of boredom and hop back onto the bed, listening to the deranged water from the evil tube.
"What does it feel like?"
I turn towards him. "What?"
"To be loved."
"You know what it feels like."
"I don't..."
"Yes, because I love you."
He stares at his feet as they wave side to side, repetitively hitting each other. "Thanks... But what does a father's love feel like?"
What a weird question. Who doesn't know what it feels like? "How would I describe it?... Pa makes me happy and always teaches me things. We talk for a long time every day when he doesn't have work to do. Me and ma prank him all the time, then me and him prank ma all the time. I don't know? It feels normal. Does your dad love you? He has to."
"He doesn't."
"How could someone not love their child?"
He shrugs before staring at the ceiling. "How could anyone love anyone?"
"How could anyone not love anyone? It is as easy as walking and eating honey."
"What if someone doesn't like honey?"
"No such thing... Tell me how it feels to not be loved."
"Why?"
"See if it helps me explain better."
He drags his hands down his face before sitting up and sitting against the wall, facing me. He looks so sad.
"Imagine you're hugging someone, and they don't hug back... And you keep trying, trying to give them your comfort and warmth but they never hug back. Then after so long, your arms get weak and sore, stuck in the air waiting for the return. It never comes and they push you away- pushing till you are on the opposite side of the building. Now, you are walking around with your arms decaying away in a dark void, waiting for a hug from anyone who would give it, knowing they never will."
I've never heard something so sad. "Do your arms hurt?"
He nods just the smallest bit, staring at his hands.
I get up and walk over to him. "Shall you get up, good sir?" I should talk more "proper" as ma and pa call it. It's fun.
"Why?"
"Because." I take a step back. I don't want to make him fall onto the bed. Wouldn't be proper of me.
He sighs before getting up. I wrap my arms around his waist. We stare at each other. He stands here, seemingly not knowing what to do with himself.
"Let your arms rest."
Something changes in his expression, he then hugs me back. "Thank you..."
I rub his back. "Of course. I'll close every one of your opened hugs whenever you want."
"Okay."
I let go of him, pat him on the head much to his confusion and check in on my dress. There is so much water over the floor. Oh, oops. I take the dress off the hole in the floor, watching water slowly go in. The water away from the hole stays there, like a lazy bum.
"Get in the hole, right now." Instead, it stays there, even stretching onto the walls. How dare it not listen. "Go, shoo." It stills only more. Rude water.
I leave the small, wet room and see him standing exactly how I left him. Is he stuck? "I broke the bathroom."
He walks over, perplexion evident. "What?"
I grab his hand and pull him into the room. "I told the water to get in the hole, but it's rolling up the walls instead."
He turns off the metal waterfall, but alas, the water doesn't go in the hole. "Go." He points to the hole in the middle of the room. The water only goes down the walls, but not in the hole.
We simultaneously turn towards each other. I must never attempt to wash a dress again. Please Poseidon, let the water listen, Neptune too. "The water is stubborn," I tell him.
He nods before pushing the water towards the hole with his foot. Once the water hits the floor from the splash, it goes back to the edge of the room. I cannot believe this, never seen such a thing happen
"Have you ever seen water do this before?"
"Nope."
"Go down the hole, you water. The humans will be shocked. This is unorderly."
The stubborn water doesn't listen. This is such a hassle.
A/N: Writing is such a hassle. This chapter took forever to write, and I was thinking 'this is a good pace' but when I proofread it, why is it so fast? How can I glance over such an important point of the plot? Well anyways, how are y'all?
