"Welcome to the Kingdom of Uphalen," pride and admiration filled Mazi's voice as she came out of the portal, "this was where I was raised before I had to go back to Heylrim."
"What are you talking about, they practically threw you back to Heylrim. You were so much of a problem for them, and everywhere you went, you caused trouble, and they like, no love, their peace." After Sephora stepped out of the portal it immediately closed up.
"I was not a problem for them and I didn't cause trouble anywhere!" Mazi raged out towards Sephora. I was a bit startled when I saw her eyes changing from their original bright pink to pure black. "Someone always set me up." She gritted her, glaring murderously at Sephora. She looked like she was about to strangle the life out of her, but I couldn't let that happen, so I stepped in between them to block the sight of Sephora from Mazi.
"Mazi, please can you calm down so that we can continue the journey to wherever we are going," I half demanded and half begged her, "and also so that I can get cleansed or whatever." it seemed like I had finally gotten to her, because she took a step back, closed her eyes and opened them, showing that they had gone back to their original color and that she was calm.
"Okay, fine." she huffed and turned around walking in the direction of the east. "Well come on, we have about an hour before they find us again!"
I jogged towards her trying to keep up, to me it seemed like she was running, but it seemed that was a regular pace since Sephora had no problem walking a few steps behind her, not getting to close but also not walking too far behind. Just watching this simple act reminded me of how weak I still was, and how I desperately needed to get stronger or I would never be able to survive in this mystical world. I finally caught up to them -after they had to wait for me to catch up- looking around, taking in what was around me. Everything looked serene and peaceful, the place looked to be more modern than Heylrim, more technologically advanced. No wonder Mazi loved it here. We slipped into the amble walking crowd on the sidewalk, stealthily moving past everyone, not drawing too much attention to ourselves, passing by shops, boutiques, fruit stands, and all sorts. They were all painted with either neutral or bright colors, there was a splash of happiness and tranquility everywhere, creating a good, peaceful vibe.
I was about to ask a question, but before I could even do that Mazi gave me a sharp look, causing me to immediately close my mouth with my eyes widening wondering what did wrong. She looked at Sephora as if conversing with her and this was confirmed when she nodded her head, agreeing to something Mazi just said. I made a note to ask them about it when we get to wherever we were going, I looked at Mazi again and she looked like she was about to facepalm in disappointment. Now I knew that I was definitely doing something wrong. All of as sudden Mazi is turning a sharp corner going straight into the wall, I halt wondering what had just happened. Sephora looked at me and cocked her head towards the wall, entering into it too. I looked around wondering if anyone had seen that, but everyone seemed to be going on about their normal day. I looked at the wall suspiciously before entering into it myself.
"Her mind is too weak, if she doesn't get stronger soon, she might as well just die now," Mazi whispered to nodding Sephora, agreeing with her.
"You guys are talking about me aren't you." my lips quivered a little as I mumbled, interrupting their not so private conversation.
"Elizabeth!" Mazi exclaimed in surprise. "Finally you're here, what took you so long."
"You don't have to try to change the subject I heard what you said, and I want to get stronger, so can we get this cleansing thing over with so that I may return back to training." I hissed at them filled with annoyance, anger, and a little bit of sadness by how weak I actually was to them.
"Alright come on," Sephora sighed turning towards what looked like a back door.
"Follow me."
She stepped outside after she opened the door, I quickly go after her, going outside too, and I was presented with a magnificent homely view. There was a red and purple gazebo in the middle of the whole garden, roses of all colors and sizes surrounding it. It was about 15 feet tall and 50 square meters wide -it was that big- with stairs surrounding, and leading up to it. There were black silky looking curtains hung jump letting the wind flow through the gazebo. Four light purple chairs were in the middle of it surrounding a reddish-brown table. All in all, everything was beautiful. That's when I noticed Sephora standing to the far side of the rather large garden, staring at me, waiting for me to finish taking everything in. I stride towards her until I get in front of her, not wanting to waste any more time.
"Lay down," she commanded pointing to the grass. I did as she said not questioning what she said. "Close your eyes, hand flattened beside." she watched me as I obeyed her every word. "Now don't move."
I felt drenched but I didn't feel her pour anything on me. She began to chant. Words that I have never heard before came out of her mouth, and then all of a sudden I felt excruciating pain flowing through my body, even then I did the best I could not to move, but it was too unbearable. She chanted louder, I could feel her circling me as she did this. The pain stopped so abruptly, it felt like it was never even there, but I had a feeling that it was just the first round, and I was right because just as abruptly as it left, it came back, and this time with full force, the last thing I remember was screaming with my back arched from the ground in agonizing bodily torture before I blacked out.
