5
From my sense of time, I was sure it was at least 5 am in the morning, I don't even know how I was awake at this time, I usually didn't wake up this early. I was laying down on my bed looking at the white ceiling above me. I felt the most internal peace doing this. I reminisced about what Sephora had said to me before during diner, and then I realized, I was weirdly calm about all this of it. Like I don't care but I actually cared at the same time, especially when she said she knew my mother. The only reason I could think of as to why I was so calm about all of it was that for most of my life, I've been surrounded by uttermost chaos, so I felt right at home.
I continued looking at the ceiling for a few minutes before I decided to get dressed. I walked into the bathroom, did all my necessities, walked back out, and into the walk-in closet looking for something comfortable to wear. I chose a black pair of cotton shorts with a light blue hoodie. I walked over to the shoe section of the closet and picked up a black pair of shoes to match the whole outfit. I assessed myself in the mirror dimming myself appropriate enough to go downstairs.
I thought I would be the first to be awake but she proved me wrong when I saw her coming out of a kitchen.
"You are awake early," she looked at me from my head to toe, "that's good. That means we have an early start then."
She went in the direction of the dining room gesturing with her hand for me to follow her.
As we entered, I noticed that breakfast was already on the table, and it smelled delicious.
"Eat up, you would need all the energy you can get for today."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I was heaving, bent over, hands and knees, bruises scattered all over my body, felt like fainting, type of heaving, it felt like I had cardiovascular disease or something.
"That's not even half of what you supposed to learn today."
Sephora just stood there looking at me breathing like I just ran across the whole of California without stopping. I looked up at her still being down, not believing what she had just said. If this wasn't half of what my training would be then I was absolutely sure that I would probably die from a heart attack from the rest of it.
"Stand up straight." She commanded and I not being able to control my own body obeyed.
"Can you stop that!" I heaved out giving her a murderous glare that should have made anyone back away from me, but she only returned it with an even stronger glare. For a few moments, it seemed like we were having a glaring competition until her glare became too intense for me to handle and I looked away.
"You have to get stronger or you will be deemed as a weakling." She turned slightly sideways hand massaging her head and the other resting on her hip, "I didn't know you were this weak, this is going to take so long." She said it in such a way that I was meant to hear it but at the same time not meant to.
Her words made me feel determined to meet up to her expectations, so I said in a firm voice while standing even straighter, "let's continue."
She looked at me, and after a few moments nodded, "okay then," she stepped about nine to ten feet away from me, "get into your stance." I did as she said and counted to three knowing that's how long she would give me to be prepared for what was about to happen, one, two, three. She ran towards me with the speed that could make anyone think she was running at the speed of light or even faster. One moment she was about ten feet away, and the next she was behind me throwing a punch that could probably shatter a grown man's skull, and this time I managed to dodge it about to counter it by flipping her over my shoulder and twisting her arm, but it always seemed like she was two steps ahead of me all the time and before I knew it I was pinned on the floor hand twisted around my back at an awkward angle.
"You need to learn how to predict a person's movements fast and where they are going to teleport to beforehand. You must read into their movements or you will never survive." She let my hand go and stepped back. "But at least you did better than before this time."
I didn't smile outwardly but her words made me smile in my head knowing this was the first semi-compliment that I will get in a while.
I stood up about to tell her that we should continue but she cut me off saying, "take a break, there will be water waiting for you at the dining." She walked away from me before I could say anything. "Be back here in ten minutes."
Knowing I couldn't really change her mind about what she has said, I just nodded, even though she couldn't see me and went back into the house going straight for the dining area and true to her sayings the was a glass of water waiting for me on the table but what I didn't expect to be there was a man dressed in a completely black suit sitting at the very end of the table across the room looking directly at me.
"Olleh." He said as he stared at me. At that moment Sephora barged into the room yelling get down. Everything else that happened after that was too fast for me to follow and the only thoughts running through my head at that moment were, who is he, what did he say, and most of all why did Sephora sound so scared when she told me to get down.
