Part 3
The evil witch jumped on her broomstick and set off toward the sisters who were already 100 feet away from her. "I thought you couldn't run!" Victoria called to her sister Joy, who was in front of her.
"Well," Joy snarkily remarked. "Seeing as we are being chased by an evil witch on a broomstick quickly catching up to us, I much rather would NOT die, thank you!"
"Don't get snarky with me little sister!" Victoria remarked just as snarkily. Joy glared behind her at her slightly older sister.
"You're only older by 35 seconds and 27 milliseconds," Joy stated factually. It was technically true. "Or maybe it was 27.3 milliseconds?" she quietly questioned herself.
Joy and Victoria sprinted across the green plains away from the witch, Azis not far behind. The witch was getting farther and farther away. As they neared another patch of trees, the two girls scrambled up one. The only setback was Azis. He was jumping on Joy, trying to hitch a ride up the tree. Joy didn't really mind, though Azis's claws were pulling on her long, wavy hair.
As Joy finally clambered up to the branch Victoria was perched upon, the most dreadful thing happened. Azis yipped, and Joy felt a weight lift off her back and shoulders. "No!" she shouted. She looked on in horror as Azis tumbled down the leafy tree and hit the ground with a thud. "Azis!" The two girls shouted in utter shock in unison. Joy was still hanging on to the branch just below that of Victoria. She felt her fingers slipping. "Vicky!" she cried. Her sister - with lightning-fast reflexes - caught her hand and hoisted her up. "I got you," she said quietly. "I got you."
"But what of Azis?" Joy questioned, sorrow and grief filling her heart. Victoria didn't know what to say. "I'm sorry, Joy," she said mournfully. "I know how much you loved our newly found friend.
Just then, after the five minute occurrence of climbing the tree and Azis falling to her assumed death, there was a bright light. It was their mother, the beautiful queen Athena. The two daughters were furious at first sight of her. After all, she had practically imprisoned them most of their lives!
