Chapter 6

In the battle arena...

The Royal Guardians — except Bashiri — and Lariel were now sitting in the middle of the bleachers. Leo happened to be at the center. On his left was Lariel. On his other side was Billie. Rover happened to sit behind Billie while Intellizo is behind Leo.

Further from the audience was a big space provided for the fighting skills, techniques and unique elements.

You can see Billie's expression filled with a mix of hope and slight worry. He leaned over to Leo's ear and whispered to him, "Do you think Bashiri will get through?"

Leo turned to him. "I hope so, Billie. After all, she passed the first test with us. I hope she'll be able to go through this in the arena."

"Yeah, same here. I'm just worried of what's gonna happen to her."

Billie could feel a hand almost pushing his back. His eyes widened in surprise as he felt it. Once he turned behind him and saw Rover, his facial expression changed into a glare that says, "Hey! What was that for?"

"You always worry about her, Billie. After all..." Rover then, leaned closer to his ear and whispered to him in a teasing tone. "You don't wanna express your feelings towards her, do you?"

That made Billie's eyes widen in surprise, then his facial expression turned into a denial glare, his eyes shooting towards the lizard. "No-no-no-no-no! We're only best friends! Nothing more!"

You can see Rover snickering hysterically at his reaction towards him despite receiving a glare from him.

Now, all four teasing smirks turned their way towards him.

"Are you sure about that Billie?" asked Intellizo. "I've sensed some chemistry between you two and I've seen how comfortable you are with each other."

"I agree with Intellizo. In fact, I've seen the way you acted around her. Even that one moment before you train," said Leo.

You can hear a giggle escaping Lariel's mouth. And that giggle almost looked like she's going to laugh. "Oh, boys." Then, her face turned into a serious one. "Anyways, let's keep your eyes peeled and hope Bashiri will get through. I think it's about to start."

"Yeah. I hope," replied Leo as he glanced at the mini-room where the royal family was involved. They were sitting on the proper thrones with the exact same position as the ones they've encountered in the throne room.

A bang was suddenly heard. All heads turned to see two doors opening. One in each corner. On the left stood a muscular bandit with his heavy blade ready while on the other side was Bashiri herself. In the same GI she had worn everyday with her own staff in her hands. She also wore her ninja face mask to keep up her focus.

Nothing else occurred upon the battle until the gong boomed in everyone's ears.

The bandit was the first to charge at Bashiri and strike a direct punch on her face, but she smoothly swooped her left foot in a quarter-circle. Down, then to her right allowing her body to quickly evade the punch.

The bandit attempted to land another punch, but Bashiri flipped herself over his arm and landed on the other side.

Now, her eyes were in contact with the bandit's battle stance. Her body swooped in full-contact with him as she got into her signature battle stance. Both Bashiri and the bandit clashed to each other as multiple punches, kicks, evades, flips and smooth ninja skills were involved. Soon, Bashiri was brought to the ground.

Half of the audience lightly gasped seeing Bashiri on the ground while the other half erupted into cheers rooting for the bandit.

Bashiri was seen slowly getting up. Now, once she's on her feet, she pulled out her staff from her back. The bandit pulled out a heavy blade in return.

Now, the two began to clash with their weaponry skills being involved. Bashiri's staff skills were the ones ringing in everyone's ears.

Soon, out of rage, the bandit snapped the staff into half with his heavy blade. The reason is because the staff is made out of stern wood whereas the blade is made of steel.

Gasps of shock appeared on the audience's faces. Especially the royal family, Lariel and the Royal Guardians. Once Destinee and Billie saw this they're the first ones to cry out, although they'd never be able to hear each other.

"Bashiri!!!"

Destinee was about to rise from the throne and headed out to give her some backup when suddenly, a hand gripped her upper arm.

"No, Destinee. This is Bashiri's battle," Kader told her.

She turned to her father. "But—"

"I know. But we cannot reveal our true selves to anyone. Not even a single person," he said in a low voice only she could hear.

It took Destinee a few moments before she finally went back to sit on her throne. "Let's hope Bashiri will get through this battle."

"Of course," said Kader.

Billie was the one whose eyes were full of worry and fear. Because of this, a strangled cry went up to his throat. Then, words escaped his mouth.

"Bashiri!!!"

This had caught Bashiri's attention, who was still devastated at the fact that her staff had been broken. When her eyes landed on his, it sent her full determination.

And so, her body turned to the lead bandit. With a death glare shooting towards him.

"You may be a strong one, but I'm stronger when I persevere myself to victory." A golden aura suddenly surrounded her surprising everyone. "From here on out, I promise to defend and protect Shinōkoku from being fallen into the evil hands! Always!"

With that being said, her feet was no longer on the ground. Bashiri was seen floating a few centimeters on air with her eyes closed. Some of the golden aura shot itself out of her chest. Then, it flew right behind her.

That's when the shield's shape started to get involved. And it's spinning rapidly.

It took Bashiri a few moments before opening her eyes and the symbol became exposed to the public's eye. The symbol represents a ninja silhouette with a circle beside it. Inside the circle... was a bamboo stem.

Everyone's faces were full of shock. Most especially Billie as he recognized the bamboo symbol on the shield.

"Hey! That symbol represents my home, Kung-guó!" he pointed out.

"Kung-guó?" asked Leo in confusion.

"It's a place where pandas mainly live. It is located in the bamboo forest. It's where we practice Kung Fu in order to fulfill our prophecy. Any good visitor is welcomed and any enemy is kicked-butt," explained Billie with a smile on his face. But then, his face turned into the one with a midst of sadness. "Unfortunately, I ran away from home after the certain latest accident happened in the lab."

Bashiri was seen using one of the skills learned from her father to ultimately take down the lead bandit. After a few moments of using her skillful hands to do so, her right hand was reached out directly to the lead bandit and her ultimate temporal power had knocked him out.

The Royal Guardians decided to run near the battle scene just in case Bashiri gets dizzy. Once her feet were on the ground, they were a bit wobbly. Bashiri was about to fall on her back when Billie got quick enough to head over and catch her. This almost seemed like a boy dipping the girl at the end of the waltz performance.

"You did it! You've found your specific role as the Royal Guardian!" Billie said in a joyful voice.

It took her a while before replying in a low voice only he could hear. "Yeah... thanks. Although, I've seen in the future that..."

"That what?"

"Just give me more time to think."

"Alright, Bashiri."

The moment was, however interrupted by Rover telling Billie, "Hey, now that we know Bashiri's specific role, what's yours?"

"I don't know, but let's give her a rest before continuing our mission," answered Billie.

"Clifton... He's in..." Bashiri said between heavy multiple breaths.

"You're right, Billie. Let's give her mind some rest," said Leo in a voice only Billie could hear.

"Okay. And we'll continue our journey and leave Bashiri to fulfill her specific role."

"Alright."

And so, she was brought in her bedroom led by Blossom herself. While she's still resting, the other Royal Guardians and Lariel said their goodbyes to the royal family and all of Shinōkoku. Most especially Bashiri and Billie having a heartwarming and emotional moment as they might never see each other again, but Bashiri assured him that they will.

And so, the four Royal Guardians and Lariel exited the Shinōkoku gates.
