Chapter Two
Chapter Two - Mr. Abram
I approach the door only to see the back of Danny, my boss, through the shiny-clear glass making gestures with his arms and hands as he talks to someone I assume, but I can't really tell due to Danny's buff-wide and tall build blocking the person inside. It makes me think a little. . . who is it and why do they want to see me?
I softly knocked on the glass causing Danny's movements to come to a sudden stop as his head whips to face the door where I'm standing, waiting. I quickly notice the half-cocked grin on my boss's face when he faces me causing me to quickly fall into confusion. Danny with anything close to a smile on his face is something, for as long as I've known him, I don't see often.
He opens the door for me, "Quick, come in." Wow, he even sounds jittery and...excited. For me?
I walk in slowly, confused about this whole sketchy situation.
It gets even more sketchy when I walk into to see a man. A very handsome, alluring man. His skin is pale yet his features are dark which is probably the thing that attracts me so much along with his strong dark eyes that seemed to pierce me as he stares at me. His hair is nicely gelled and laid back making him look professional.
I hear someone clear their throat from the side of the room causing me to quickly whip my head to look over.
Woah. What in the hell is he doing here?
"Mr. London, welcome back sir," I say smoothly, in hopes he doesn't hear the nervousness in my voice. That's my boss. I mean, yeah, Danny is my boss but Mr. London is the big-big boss. He owns Impulse; one of the biggest industries in the modern world. This quickly makes me wonder what a man like him is doing here. He's supposed to be like traveling the world and enjoying immortality with his hot wife oh and let's not forget his billions of dollars. Though he is known as the most humble vampire out there, which is why he created Impulse, who knows what he could be doing here.
Like he knew what I was thinking he speaks, "People in my position still have to work too especially on special days like this, Aubrey." He looks back over to the very handsome man on the chair.
Ok, I really gotta figure out who this man is. He must be important.
The man suddenly stands then proceeds to walk closer to Mr. London and me.
I soon notice the two of them both staring me down with sincere faces. Weird. All the while Danny stands slightly behind them and off to the side with a dumb grin on his face. Weirder.
"Am I about to be rewarded or som-" I am cut off by the man who seems to be the only person I don't know in this room yet I could tell he is evidently important.
"Noah, Noah Abram. Pleasure meeting you, Miss. Jacobs." His hand grabs my hand only for him to graze his fingers along my knuckles before placing a gentle kiss on them. Though I was slightly perked up at the gesture It doesn't distract from the fact that his hands are cold, really cold. It's a familiar type of cold; a vampire. Just then the name dawns on me . . . Abram. This is the Noah Abram.
It shocks me just a little cause it took me a bit to figure out it was him; the king of the vampires. Every single vampire and everyone involved in vampire business knows of him and he's pretty huge in the media as well so it's hard for anyone not to know who he is. Apparently, the story goes, well the short version, his very ruthless maker passed away centuries ago and the throne was passed down to him. Ever since then the vampire society and human society has been happier than ever once he created peace between the two, and of course, it wasn't as simple as it sounds but you get the gist. He's supposedly a very humble and calm man and that cold side of him is only revealed rarely when he is upset but, as I said, the man has been around for centuries so it takes a lot for someone like him to get upset.
"Uh Hi...I would introduce myself but it seems you already know me." I look around the room at the two other men with squinted, questioning eyes, wondering exactly why the king of vampires knows me.
"Ah, yes, please sit down Aubrey. Let us explain," Mr. London says, pulling out one of the two glass chairs that were seated in front of Danny's glass desk. I hate that everything is glass here. Like, what would happen if I was very clumsy and everything broke around me. Oh wait, that was me. When I first started working at Impulse I broke two of the doors but it really wasn't as bad as it sounds, only a little.
I stare at the chair a bit before finally sitting down and staring up at the men in front of me. I wiggled around in the chair feeling strange and slightly uncomfortable looking up to arguably two of the most important men in the modern world. . . and Danny.
"Well, knowing you Aubrey, you aren't going to be too fond of this but I'm hoping you can learn to accept," Danny explains, finally leaving the dark corner of his office.
Accept? Learn to accept what?
I guess he could see my confusion before he quickly faces the man that I've noticed has kept an eye on me ever since I walked in here, "Mr. Abram, would you like to explain or shall I?"
Mr. Abrams simply nods back in response curtly before taking a seat across from me which made me calm a bit but I still remain a little stiff. Though I'm feeling nervous about whatever this is, I still manage to plaster a small smile on my face and I nod my head at him.
Just then he begins to speak and as the words tumble out shock overthrows my body, but I somehow keep the smile present on my face but the rest of me stays frozen.
"My wife and I have been keeping an eye out for you for some time and we've come to fancy you. And I know this is sudden and out of the blue, but we would like to propose the idea of you becoming our bonder." He rasps in a very sexy voice but I ignore it and remember most importantly, that he and his wife are vampires. The very beings I train humans to fight against not to love and give up blood for.
I shake my head, "No, sorry, I'm not available. Maybe try my partner, Debby." I say, a cheeky smile present on my face before I hop out of the glass chair and race to the door.
"Wait!" His growl echoed throughout the room.
