Chapter Six - Decisions, Decisions

"Okay, that's good enough for today, Alex. We need to move on," I tell Alex causing him to almost immediately let his fist drop from the punching bag and let out a big huff.

"Alright, can you just get my shirt over there and help me take off these gloves, please," He asks me, pointing his head to where his shirt is laying on a chair.

I roll my eyes at him, "Of course. Anything else you need your majesty?" I question with a little bit of attitude causing him to deeply furrow his brows at me.

"Damn, what crawled inside of you and died?" He replies to my attitude as I roughly peel back the fabrics of the gloves.

I get the gloves off his hands and shake my head, "Sorry, I've just been dealing with some stuff."

Yes or no? A simple answer to a hard question that I still have yet to answer.

Ever since I left their house four days ago it's the only thing that's been in my head at a repeat. Noah's voice in my head repeated the question and what would happen if I said no.

Obviously, I feel like I have to say yes, because who am I to say no and risk society the way it is cause I'm scared?

"Oh? Let me guess. . .the Abrams?" He guesses aloud as he throws his shirt over his head before drowning himself in his very masculine smelling cologne. All I do is turn to glare up at him for his statement and my now burnt nose.

"Oh please don't act like it isn't, you've been all weird ever since you left the office that day." He tells me before sucking the remainder of what's in his water bottle dry.

I chuckle and scoff, "And how would you know that, you've been here like a week maybe this is how I always act."

He shrugs with a smug look on his face, "Something tells me this isn't how you act though."

I scoff once again, "Take an actual shower and meet me in the library when you're done."

I stride out of the training room and head towards my office before going to the library.

There I found Debby with her feet propped up on her desk with a magazine sitting in her hands, "Your shift up already?" She questions not even looking up at me but instead skimming focusing on her fashion magazine.

I flopped down in my comfy leather chair and sigh, "Nope, I'm just taking a break and trying to relax while Alex showers."

Debby turns another page in her magazine, "You don't look that relaxed. You've had a permanent bitch face since you walked in this morning. Maybe you should call up Nadia and talk to her she always seems to know how to deal with your problems. No offense girlie but your hard case to solve," She says quite calmly all the while she flips through her little magazine.

I spin around in my chair to face her, "Debby, you're no help. Like at all."

She shrugs her shoulders just as the phone on her desk rings, "Sorry, gotta take this."

I roll my eyes once again at her and groan before checking my phone and ironically I have a text from Nadia.

'You should come over after work. Miss u <3' It reads and I smile at it. I have really missed my best friend and it would be nice to talk to her about this. Debby is right she can always handle my problems somehow.

I text back, 'I'll be there around seven. Miss u too hun' I place my phone back into the compartment of my desk and push out of my seat to head over to the library.

I knock exactly four times on Nadia's door in a particular sequence that only she and I know. We had made up a secret knock one night when we were bored and that was also the night she met Leo. A very wild night may I add.

The door opens, winding me out my thoughts, and revealing the small brunette, "I bought wine, bitch. Ugh, when was the last time we just sat down and drank a nice tall glass of Chardonnay." She rambles on as she turns around and heads deeper into her condo and I know she expects me to follow so I do so.

"Maybe the reason we're not drinking together every week talking about our problems is that one; you have a vampire boyfriend who often requires your blood for him to, ya know, live and it would probably be best for you to just drink water to stay hydrated. And two, you have no big problems any more, which is oddly making me have more," I blurt out all out at once causing Nadie to stop in her tracks and look back at me with raised eyebrows.

She places her hand on her hip, "Well, I've been drinking my water and taking vitamins if that's your way of asking. Also, go sit down you sound like you have something serious on your mind," She tells me assertively but when she doesn't see me move she speaks again, "Go."

After staring her down for giving me the look I oblige and sit on her extremely comfortable couch. I swear every time I come over here I manage to fall asleep on this couch somehow.

In almost no time Nadia comes around the corner with two wine glasses almost filled to the brim with the white wine. This girl is no joke about her wine.

She hands the glass to me before she plops down onto the couch.

"Let's talk. Tell me what's going on, baby girl." She calls me by our little name for each other.

I stare at Nadia giving her the are-you-sure look and she just nods ensuring me that I should continue on with my story.

After she gives me her nod of approval I take it away from there.

I start from the beginning of that day just four days ago when Alex walked in and I thought that'd be the only difference from my normal routine. Then I went on and on and on to her about the last few days and along the way she nods her head, and I could just tell she was waiting for me to finish so she could speak.

"Aubrey, you know what you want to do but you also know what you have to do. I get your dilemma but this is a save yourself or save everyone else moment," She tells me things that I already know but hearing it from her makes it easier to decide for some reason.

Nadia continues on after she notices me swishing the wine around my cup hopelessly, "I mean, it's not like you don't know how to handle yourself plus I hear they're really great. I'm pretty sure you saw for yourself when you went to their home." I just smile up at her for giving an effort to try to make me feel somewhat better.

I sigh as I finally arrive in front of my door after walking up all those stairs.

You're too broke to afford anything on the first floor. I swear you'd expect them to pay a little bit more for literally helping to keep society running.

Walking into my small but comfy condo, I drop my gym bag by the door and shut it behind me. I make sure to kick my shoes off at the door as well so my feet could finally get a rest from a long day.

I flick on the lights only to let out a yelp when I see a figure on the couch.

"Wha-" I try to ask him but I'm quickly cut off.

"I need your answer. People are getting impatient so please just give me an answer. . ." Noah tells me in a very stern yet pleading voice.

I look at him shocked, but he just looks at me with concentrated eyes.

"Y-yes...I'll do it," I accept the offer hesitantly.
