Chapter 45: The Rogue's Master

Hello, my lovely readers. As promised, you vote and I update.

Happy Reading and keep voting.

FENRIS

"We were told to follow Master Xanthos. Master Xavier knew about his plans and just wanted us to keep an eye out for him, to save him if he was in trouble," speaks the rogue, who's bathed in the stench of fear and disgust.

I grunt at his answer and control myself from ripping his throat off or rather to cut off his dick which twitched when he looked at my mate. I have been sitting here for almost an hour, interrogating this bastard who's keeping me from returning back to my mate. I sigh and shake my head at the stubbornness of this rogue. He just won't co-operate.

"What was my mate injected with?" I try again hoping that he would answer now at least.

"The witch made a potion to artificially trigger her heat. Master told her to inject your mate only when master Xanthos was winning. You spoiled our plan by tricking master Xanthos." The rogue finishes his sentence, and it takes all of my control from thrashing him. Xavier and his psychotic plans. They are more dangerous when he involves my mate in this mess. I don't want that rogue anywhere near my mate.

"Why was the witch ordered to inject my mate? How did you know that my mate's going to come to the clearing?" I ask him, clenching and unclenching my fists.

The rogue just laughs. He laughs maniacally and I have the urge to throttle him so much that I unknowingly spring up from my chair. Only Calum's restraining hand on my shoulder stops me from acting on my temper. I shrug off his hold on my shoulder and return back to my seat in front of the rogue who's tied to his chair in the basement dungeon of this house. Yes, the house has a basement filled with torture devices. Guess, my father was very high on killing an intruder in his house. Can't say I am not grateful to him.

"Master Xavier has orchestrated all this. The witch was sent typically to get your mate into the clearing tonight. Master Xanthos is supposed to mate her," replies the rogue with a psychotic lilt to his words. The rogue laughs at his own words and that's when I snap.

In no time, I am out my chair and walking towards the rogue. This time Calum doesn't stop me and I relish the feel of this rogue's head in my hands. His blood drips from my hands as I stare at his body lying on the ground. I throw the head on the bars of the cell watching it roll away.

~~~~~~
"STOP IT." Nora mutters her spell and I feel lethargic all of a sudden. I sit back and blink several times to take in my surroundings. I am not in the basement but in the living room, on the couch. My hands are not bloody but clean. I shake my head and look up at Nora who's holding a cup of ginger tea for me. I gladly accept it and take a sip of it, trying to relax my stiff muscles.
"You went ballistic after ripping the rogue. Calum had to intervene by casting a fainting spell. You won't remember it. He brought you here," Nora explains and all of a sudden I remember how angry I had felt at the thought of my mate being subjected to the rogue's wills.
"I understand your rage, Fenris. But you need to calm down. Your mate's upstairs and she's safe," whispers Alcina and its then that I notice her sitting beside Calum, facing me. The siblings look scared. Hell, I can sense their fear.
"You are scary when your eyes turn black and when you growl. You had that blood thirsty look in your eyes," mutters Calum, reading my thoughts.
"Why didn't you read the rogue's thoughts?" I ask.
"The rogue had shields around his thoughts. It is obvious. The witch also had the same shields. She must have done that as a precaution. Clearly, they had planned it," replies Calum and I nod in understanding.
"Did you interrogate the witch?" I direct the question to Nora since we had decided that the witch should be interrogated by a witch and the rogue by me.
"Yeah! She's no longer alive. She too confessed the same thing like the rogue as if they had orchestrated the being-caught scenarios too."
"But I sensed that the rogue was telling the truth. I trust my senses no matter what the witch's power say. Even if she had drugged him, I would have sensed his drug infected lies," I argue.
"Yes, I know, Fenris. They were saying the truth but what scares me is their intentions. It looks like Xavier plans on repeating the history only this time he wants more. He wants to indirectly rule over the werewolf kind." Nora's words haunt me as soon as they are muttered. I shudder at the thought of losing my mate.
Running my hand through my hair, I pull at the ends in frustration. I am going to be bald by the time this problem is solved, I muse to myself.
"What to do? Where to begin, Nora. I am so lost at this moment," I say putting my head in my hands as I try to find at least one way of dealing with the situation.
"Call Raoul. Tell him all that happened and also tell him to send that healer Fridolf. He can examine Sierra and create an antidote," suggests Nora squeezing my shoulder, sympathy shining clear in her eyes.
"Won't the heat stop now that I have mated her?" I ask unable to keep the confusion out of my voice. Nora chuckles at my question and shakes her head, waving me off as if I am some lunatic. I growl at her blatant brush off.
"Oh. You are not joking, are you?" she exclaims and I purposely maintain a bland look. She pales when I stare at her with my brows raised.
"This is an artificially induced heat. I don't know anything about this but a natural heat usually lasts for more than 4-5 days, mostly a week. If your mate's heat is anything like the natural one then mating only once will not be enough. You will have to mate her for the next 4-5 days till the heat wanes automatically. But keep in mind Fenris, that it never completely goes away. I know this because I saw my sister in her heat. I suggest to call Fridolf so that he can examine your mate and find if there are any side effects. Nothing else." To say that I am shocked at Nora's words would be an understatement.
"Call Raoul." Nora says more firmly and I stand. Walking upstairs and into my room, I see my mate's sleeping form and feel a sense of possession grip me. I would never let anything hurt her, I vow to myself before picking up my phone from the bedside table and going back downstairs.
~~~~~~~~

"It better be something important, pup," growls Elder Raoul from the other end of the phone and roll my eyes at the absurdity of the situation.

"Sierra's in heat." Out of all the important things that I want to tell him, I manage this to come out of my mouth.

To top it off, elder Raoul's reply of "No, pup. Sierra's in the school. Sleeping soundly," pisses the hell out of me.

"No elder. Go check her room, if you want to. Sierra is with me and she's in heat, an artificial heat..." I begin and speak in a rush not at all thinking whether the elder is listening to me or not. For a long time, okay for a few seconds I could hear nothing on the line but only deep breaths. I can imagine the elder brushing his long beard, thinking.

"You are in your parent's cabin, at the edge of Crimson Shadow, right?" he asks calmly.

"Yes."

"Will reach by dawn. I'll bring Fridolf," clips the elder and then hangs up. I sigh tiredly and run a hand over my face, rubbing my eyes. I can feel a headache burning behind my eyelids.

"Why don't you sleep till the time Raoul arrives? You definitely need it." Nora says from behind me. I turn to look at her feeling hopelessness creep in onto me.

"What about the bodies of the witch and the rogue?" I ask.

"Don't worry. Calum and Alcina are getting them cremated," she says and I nod in agreement.

"Go child. At this moment, think about how confused and scared your mate feels. She doesn't know half of the problems going on around us. A person who doesn't know about her mate's problems will not be able to help. She'll only feel hurt, confused and lonely. A feeling you definitely know better. So, go to her. Talk to her."

"Thank you," I whisper, pouring my gratitude in those two words. She squeezes my hand and pats my cheek before walking out of living room and settles down in a chair on the porch.

I climb up the stairs forgetting about the problems and focus on my mate. Entering the room, quietly, I am flooded with her sweet scent. I keep the phone and remove my t-shirt before sliding in behind my mate. Immediately she snuggles into me and I put my arms around her and take in a deep breath, taking in her scent. Her scent is changing, mingling with mine. It makes me happy an odd feeling since, I never thought that sierra would be in my arms like this, willing and without reservations. I kiss her head and rest my chin above her head, her hair getting caught in my stubble, binding us together in a more physical sense and in a few minutes, I drift off in a peaceful sleep.
