3rd Person POV

Quil walked down the hall, it was routine, except this time she wasn't going to deliver anything. She just felt like walking down the hall, and thinking. Suddenly, she was interrupted by a hand shoving her into a closet. "What do you know about Valerie?" Said the voice. It took a couple seconds for Quils eyes to adjust to the dark, but she quickly recognized the culprit. "Diane?" Quil questioned. It was more to herself, and not her. "What do you know about Valerie?" Diane repeated. "What do you mean?"

Diane scoffed. "Don't play dumb with me, I know that you have some knowledge about those two, and don't even try lying to me. It would be a shame if someone were to..let it slip that one of the kings newbies had been attempting to invoke war with the next kingdom over of whom we've just been able to sign a peace treaty with?" She bat her eyelashes. Quil scowled. "Like the king would believe a liar like you." Diane smiled a wicked, sinister smile. "Oh but Quil dear, Theres a difference. You're new. My kingdom and here have been allies for centuries. You're just the newbie maid who only got in because your family in the slums that you call a town in front of the castle managed to get you about two years in college before you had to stop due to the costs being too high." Quil scowled, but let her keep talking. "So what would happen if a weak, small girl had run into the throne room in alarmed anguish in tears at the sight of Quil the maid sending off documents that withheld forged signatures from the king and queen declaring war?" Diane cheekily pulled out two slips of paper, both of which held a striking resemblance to legal palace documents. "And in a fright..She happened to be able to snag two of them..?" Quil felt herself pale.

"You wouldn't-" "Oh! But I would, dear, and if you don't cough up that information I will." She grinned so wide it seemed as though she was the Cheshire Cat. "So if you don't want me to, you'll tell me everything there is to know." Quil wrangled herself out of Dianes grip, looking down at her. "Ok, ok.." A fearful look flashed across her face, as Diane stared up at her, still grinning.

"I'll tell you everything."

~

Logan and Virgil had woken up and immediately started talking. Roman had also woken up about 15 minutes into their conversation, and smiled. "Cats outta the bag?" Virgil looked over and saw his awake brother. "Yep." Virgil beamed, before going back onto his story describing the things he saw in the dungeon. "So anyway, I gave the guy the donut right?" Logan nodded, invested in Virgil's tale. "And he spoke! He actually spoke! He thanked me. The guys name is Dee. Apparently he was thrown in there when he was like twelve for supposedly killing his family in a house fire, but I don't buy it counting the huge burn marks all over his body. The other prisoners say that someone forced him to lie and say it was him. That's why they call him 'Deceit'."

Logan sat on the bed, stunned. "..wow." Virgil ran a hand through his hair. "Crazy, right?! They didn't even question it! Just thrown in there! The guys taller than you and looks like a noodle!" Roman sat up, still enveloped in the silk sheets from the top of his head to the bottom of his feet. "You know we could just bust him out, right? Supposedly from what I heard you weren't caught while passed out for four fuckin hours. We could definitely get him out, and slip under the radar."  Roman suggested. Logan and Virgil exchanges a quizzical look. "...Holy shit we could." Logan pondered. Virgil's face lit up. "Logan! You could totally yoink your parents' keys!" Logan smiled at his boyfriends face. "No need. I 'yoinked' my fathers keys about a month ago. He loses them all the time so he just bought some more." Logan proudly announced, pulling out a small key ring from his pocket.

Virgil's jaw dropped for a moment before closing it again. "Kiss me." Virgil said off the mind. Logan smiled. "Any time, dear." He started to lean in before Roman interjected. He gagged over dramatically, miming vomiting. "Not when I can see it! You two can fuck another time, just not in front of me." Virgil and Logan immediately turned to face the man. "ROMAN!" They shouted, almost in unison, redder than a rose. Roman cackled. Logan sighed. "C'mon, there's no time like the present. Let's get Dee out." A sudden knock at the door was heard, Roman was about to get up to answer it before Quil burst through the door. "There's no time to explain, but you need to get out of here. Now." She looked shaken, terrified. Roman was the first to speak up. "Quil, what's wrong-" She cut him off. "There's no time! Just leave! Now!" Quil screamed. Virgil spoke up this time. "What do you mea-"

"There she is, sir!" A female voice wailed. The four turned to see three royal guards, and Diane. Diane looked at the room and gasped. "They're here too!" "We know, your majesty." One of the guards said, before one of them grabbed Quil, and grabbed her. The other two grabbed onto Logan and Virgil, who kicked and squirmed. Logan hurriedly threw the keys at Roman, who quickly caught them and dashed out of the door. Loud footsteps were heard following Romans. So they had backup. Quil thought with a scowl. Diane hopped on over to Quil. Smiling up at her. "Thanks for the secret, buddy! Isn't it nice to know you did one thing good for the kingdom in this?" Diane grabbed Quils face and turned her to face Logan and Virgil.

Logan's face fell as the realization hit him like a truck what Quil had done. Virgil stilled, tears starting to form in his violet eyes. "I trusted you.." He whispered. Tears began to fall down Quils face rapidly. Diane smiled, satisfied. She let go of Quils face. "Take them away, sir." Diane sneered. Quil just stared at the floor as Logan and Virgil were taken away, screaming curses and profanities at Quil while their faces streamed with tears.

They kicked and screamed, but to no avail. Within minutes they were downstairs. The throne room. Logan glared up at his father. His expression of pure fury not faltering his scowl for once. Eleanor sat next to him, her posture straight, though Virgil could have sworn he saw her eyes glisten with tears."I gave you everything, Logan. I held this whole thing to help you find a wife. I trusted you enough to let you be independent for once and you run off with this filth again!" He roared out the last part. "You ungrateful child!" Logan growled and tugged at the arms holding him back, failing. "YOU LAIR! YOU GAVE ME NOTHING!" "SILENCE!" Logan's father commanded. Eleanor flinched. Virgil focused on Eleanor and sat, confused. She seemed...very upset. Afraid, even.

Though, those thoughts were cut short as the King heaved himself out of his throne. "UNGRATEFUL BRAT!" He spat. Logan shrunk back, fear overtaking his emerald eyes. Marcus breathed heavily. Silence fell over the throne room. He snapped his fingers, and the guards had suddenly brought Logan to his feet, and positioned him in front of Virgil. "Now, peasant boy. I want you to remember this day. Remember it as long as you live the rest of your pathetic life." Marcus said, as one of the guards handed him a metal object.

A sleek, shining sword.

Then suddenly everything made sense. Virgil's nightmares..they were a warning.

And because Virgil had ignored it

Logan was going to die.

Logan's eyes shone with fear as his father positioned the sword just over Logan's stomach. "NO!" Virgil shouted. He ignored the small sob-like noises from the throne as Marcus' beetle black eyes met his. "Pathetic child." He sneered. "This is be a reminder of what happens when you commoners try and pervert my bloodline!" Marcus roared, about to plunge the sword directly into his sons stomach.

Virgil clenched his eyes shut, not being able to bare the sight of what was about to happen to the love of his life. "I love you, Virgil.." The green eyed boy muttered out.

"NO!" A voice screamed.

Then silence.

A gasp was heard, and Virgil opened his eyes, then widening immediately. Logan lay on the ground, presumably the source of the noise. Above him, in Logan's place, was Quil. She coughed, and blood dropped from her chin onto the floor, mixing with her tears. Her hand travelled down to the sword still poking out of her stomach, blooding staining her clothes. Her hazel eyes barely visible from underneath her spiraled hair meeting Virgil's. "...G-Go........Please.." She choked out, before her eyes rolled into the back of her head, and she collapses. Virgil sat in shock for a moment before a loud thud was heard. Roman, and Dee stood there. Romans eyes filled with tears at the sight of Quil. "GET THEM!" Marcus boomed. The guards scurried over to grab hold of the duo, but Dee pulled Roman out of the way. Dee scooped up Virgil, while Roman frantically grabbed Quils body, tears falling fast. Logan quickly caught on and began to run as well.

The guards were hot on their tails, but they kept on running. Logan tripped on his feet, and a guard grabbed his arm, yanking it at an unnatural angle as a loud snap was heard. Logan screeched in pain, as Dee, with surprising strength ran back and tore Logan out of the guards grip and ran back. Roman rammed into the door, before panicking as it was locked. While Dee caught up, Logan screamed, "A WINDOW! RIGHT THERE!" Roman turned to where Logan was looking, and ran into the window, breaking it in the process. Dee threw Virgil through the window, diving through with Logan in his arms. A whistle was heard. "GET IN! QUICK!" They turned their heads to the whistle.

Patton sat in a rusted, but efficiently working car. The guards footsteps and demands they seize we're getting closer and closer, so without a second thought they jumped into the car, and Patton drove off through the woods, and into the village. "Pat, how di-did you-" Virgil was about to ask, before Roman cut him off. "I-I told him..He was in your room so I told him what was happening."  Virgil froze for a moment, before nodding. "You guys can stay at my place until you're ready to go back.." Patton said. "Go back? Patton, are you insane?!" Dee screamed."Oh what, you're just going to let him stay in power after he tried to kill Logan, and hurt this lady?!" Patton aggressively gestured to Quil in Romans arms, still bleeding out.

"It's not like we fucking want to, but unless you have say, an entire goddamn army and the power to over throw a King we have to!" Dee pointed out. "Listen, the entire village hates Marcus. You and I both know that, Dee. We can just get them in on it. Didn't you have an entire rack of shotguns and makeshift swords? Also language." Virgil furrowed his eyebrows, confused...Did these two know eachother? "You know full well what happened to that, Hart." Dee growled. "No, in fact, I dont!" Patton yelled. "CAN YOU TWO STOP SCREAMING AT EACHOTHER FOR FIVE FUCKING MINUTES?!" Roman shouted. "QUIL IS BLEEDING TO DEATH AND WE NEED TO MAKE SURE SHE DOESNT." A hush falls over the car.

"Right. Right." Patton murmured, turning the car. The car stays silent until Patton pulls up infront of his shop. "Mí casa." Patton tries to joke, but no one laughs. He huffed and walked inside. Virgil turned to look at the place. Over the door read a sign that said "Sorry! We're Closed!" In messy writing. It looked like Patton had written it himself. The busy streets didn't pay them mind, as they slipped into Patton's bakery. The smell of pastries filling the air as PAtton fumbled with some keys he pulled out of his pocket, and once picking one, grabbed one of the wooden chairs and stood on it. Patton turned back to the others and motioned for them to take a step back. They did, and Patton stuck the key into what looked to be a hole in the ceiling before the hidden door swung open, a ladder falling down onto the marble floor.

Dust immediately clouded the air, and all except Quil began to cough. Patton cringed, stepping off the chair. "I should clean more often.." He mumbled. They all climbed up the wooden steps, and looked around at Pattons "house". There were two cots, some medicine, lanterns, an alarm clock, and two pillows. Roman laid Quil down on the cot, and Patton walked over. Patton looked at Quils body. It had gone cold at this point. He already knew what happened, but checked for a heartbeat anyway. As he suspected..There was none. Patton looked to Roman, who already knew what Patton was about to say.

Patton held Romans hand, and said words Roman wouldn't forget for a long time.

"Ro, I'm sorry but..

'Quil is dead."

Roman felt sobs rack his body before clinging onto Patton tightly, "No, no, she can't be- she isn't-" He sobbed. Patton hugged him tightly. Roman cried into the crook of Patton's neck until he fell asleep.

Patton laid Roman down on the second cot. He handed Quils body to Dee with tears pricking his eyes. "Find somewhere to keep her until we can have a funeral.." Dee swallowed the lump in his throat, but nodded silently.

That night Virgil slept uneasy, knowing full well they had lost a kind, selfless person.

and Virgil was there to watch her die.
