Day 3

⚠️Warning⚠️

angst. hella angst.

also secret relationships I guess.

And fluff ;)

Romans POV

I wake up, rubbing the sleep from my eyes and sighing. Groaning in pain I look at the time, "9:01 am" I read. I furrow my eyebrows in frustration. Virgil unplugged my alarm. Glancing over at Virgil, I smile warmly as Virgil snores loudly, covers nearly fallen off the bed. I make my way over to his sleeping form and brush the hair out of his eyes. "This is all I need. When Virgil's happy, I'll be happy, Logan makes him happy. If Logan doesn't want me around Patton, then I'll stay away, I'll let him get his happily ever after." I thought, tears stinging my eyes, I wipe them away, Walking up to the mirror in the bathroom.

"Perfect.

'I need to be perfect."

I look at my face in the mirror, rubbing my eyebags. I take out my makeup kit from underneath the counter and lay it down on the counter. "Nothing a little foundation can't fix." I murmur as I pack the powder under my eyes. I take a look at my hazel eyes, I huff and grab the contact lenses from the bag, placing them onto my now green eyes. My eyes water slightly at the dark black and blue bruise from the rock. I grab the foundation again, wincing at the pressure of the brush against my forehead. I take a step back to admire my work, I smile brightly, but my face falls as I notice the small imperfections. Dimples, Messy Hair, had i always been so chubby? I turn to the side and suck in my gut, but exhale. It's not enough. I begin to panic, "What will they think of me?" My mind races, "God, why am I so ugly?" I hyperventilate, running a hand through my already tangled and messy hair.

I begin to do the breathing exercises Dad taught Virgil, slowly calming down. I look at the mirror again, eyes cold. I carefully apply more makeup until I'm satisfied, until I look perfect. Glancing at myself, I smile brightly, "No, no. That's not it." I say, I smile again, this time with a feigned fire, a passion in my every movement. "That'll do.." I decide, stepping out. Virgil is just now nearly finished getting ready, I pat  him on the back while he brushed his hair. "Hey, J.D-lightful." I tease, Virgil snaps his head backwards, but easing up realizing it was me. "Oh, hey Ro. How's your head? I'm surprised it went away that fast." He said, reaching up to touch my forehead. "W-wait, Virgil I don't-" I stutter, but it was too late. He began to feel around it with his thumb, I wince, and pull his hand away.

Virgil suddenly looks to have a mixture of anger, and concern as he grabs me by my hair and pulls me down to his height. He licks his thumb and drags it across the slowly healing wound, dried blood still staining it slightly., I suck in air through my teeth as he wipes it away, revealing the painful injury. He grabs both sides of my face. "Roman, what the hell are you doing? Why did you try to cover that up? It's going to get infected if you put so much makeup on!" Virgil lectures as he points to his bed. "Stay there." I sit down as Virgil rushes to the bathroom. This gives me time to think of an excuse.

"'It looks bad'? No, no that's no good... 'I was embarrassed'? Maybe...." I thought, but just as I was about to come to a conclusion Virgil burst in with bandages, medical alcohol, my contact lenses case, and a whole lot of makeup remover. Virgil wipes away all my makeup, revealing all the hideous things about myself. Showing mow ugly I was. Virgil look out the contacts, and gently placed them back into their case. I looked even worse. He started to put the medical alcohol onto the wound. It screw my eyes shut and clench my fists at the pain. He starts to wrap the bandages onto my face as well, and he gives me a mirror. I look disgusting. All the zits, dimples, everything, and to top it all off a bandage that looks like it's trying to be a bandana but failing.

Virgil smiles, "There. You look great" he says softly. "No I don't..." I mumble. Virgil squeezes my hand and looks me dead in the eye. "Yes, you do. No matter wherever you've been, or whatever you lose, I won't leave your side until my last dying breath. You are not ugly at all, Roman. You're beautiful just the way you are." He says. I smile and laugh, Virgil starts laughing to. "That was so cheesy, V." I laugh. "Oh shut it, Princey." He giggles. "I gotta go, Ro. See you in a bit!" He chuckles, "Bye, Virgil!" I say. "Bye!". He shuts the door. My face falls. I felt bad for lying to him, but I had to. I had to lie, so he can get his happy ending. His Happily Ever After. Patton will have his to, marry a beautiful man or woman, Patton deserved better than him. Roman smiled sadly. Everyone will get their happy ending.

Except for him. He didn't deserve one, and he was aware of that.

3rd Person POV

Roman exhaled and exited the room, waving kindly to the maid he had helped the day before. She looked overjoyed and smiled at him. Roman smiles back and kept walking, he peered over to see Logan and Virgil reading together. Roman watched them, happy to see his brother filled with such overwhelming joy. Virgil was holding the right side of the book with Logan held the left. Two coffees sat beside the two as they bonded and Roman couldn't be more pleased to watch the two become great friends. Romans gaze went to Logan, he seemed very focused.

The light air broke as Logan locked eyes with Roman, he's got him a glare, Romans blood ran cold. Roman quickly fled. He wished he could say Logan is the reason why he felt this way, that it was a recent problem, but Roman knew that that's untrue. Romans always felt this way, he's always had to be the better one since he decided to start acting out. Roman has accepted he has to carry everyone's weight, as long as he was helping someone his life was worth living.

Roman walked aimlessly for a while, unsure of what to do with himself. He, somehow, ended up in a place he didn't know about, The Garden. White and Red Roses twisted over a small white arch at the entrance that seemed to be beckoning him inside. Roman walked through it to be greeted by different types of flowers, trees , and more. He noticed a small bench right in front of a beautiful lake with fishes swimming about inside. He sat there for a good five minutes, losing track of time over watching the lakes inhabitants seem to playfully dance in the water. For once in years, Roman is at peace. Not focused on his problems but just, calm. He felt relaxed, almost like he was about to fall asleep. It was nice.

But then, a familiar voice snapped him out of his trance. "Oh hey, Roman! I didn't know you came here!" The voice called. Roman turned around to see Patton running towards him, waving wildly. Roman felt the world stop around him. Before he could protest, Patton was next to him. "Hey, you look different," Patton began, but Roman cut him off, "I know I look hideous, Patton just say it." He spoke quickly. Patton frowned. "You don't look ugly, Roman. In fact you look beautiful!" He said, blushing at his own words. Patton grabbed hold of Roman's hand and squeezed it, but didn't let go. Roman looked into the others eyes as Patton stared happily at the fish. A million thoughts raced through his head, as panic arose in his chest one more, but Roman could feel himself getting lost in them, his face heating up slightly. "I..." Roman trailed off, unsure of what to say. "Thank you." He says finally, relaxing onto the bench, squeezing the others hand as well. "You know," Patton began, breaking the comfortable silence. "I've been wondering why you thought I hated you, being completely honest I really like you, Ro Ro." Romans' heart fluttered at his words, but he kept his priorities straight (ha), he had to keep his promise."I mean, how couldn't you, though? I'm just the brother of Virgil. The useless relative in every fairytale that is only used for information. I'm not important. I don't matter here, I'm just here to make sure you all get your happy endings." Roman spew out, cringing at the word vomit.

Patton adjusted himself before reassuring Roman. "Well if you're just the brother, than I'm just the best friend, and we useless ones gotta stuck together. If the world won't give up a use, then we'll make it ourselves." He said, smiling at Roman. Roman is moved by this. "P-Pat, I-" he stuttered, but Patton interjects. "No need. It's okay." He reassures. Roman furrows his brows  in confusion. Patton giggles. "I love you too." He whispers, holding romans hand tight. Roman pulls his hand away, looking worried. "B-but, what about Logan? What about Virgil?" He asked. Patton smirks. "It's like with Virgil pretending to be Valerie.  What the people don't know can't hurt them." Patton answers, getting closer to the flamboyant man next to him.

Roman thinks for a moment, looking down at Pattons face, he weighs his options. Roman can't seem to even think of what Virgil and Logan would think. He makes a decision. He cups Patton's cheek. "What Logan doesn't know can't hurt him." He mumbles as Patton smiles. They lean in, slotting their lips together, letting their eyes flutter closed. A perfect fit. Patton wraps his arms around his lovers neck, as Roman moves his free hand to the bubbly mans hips. They both smile sweetly as they kiss. They soon part to breathe as they look into the others eyes. Patton smiles warmly to the other as Roman seems to still be processing what just happened, but afterward follows suit. "That was," Roman starts, "Woah." Patton finishes. They both giggle lightly. They are met again with a comfortable silence, feeling nothing but pure love for the man in front of them.Roman speaks up.

"So are we...?"

"Yes, yes we are."

"G-Great."

They sit there for a while, looking at each other, holding the others hand in a way that expressed the desire to never let go. "Hey Pat?" Roman asked. "Yeah, Rolo?" Patton responded. Roman blushes at the nickname. "What're we gonna do if Logan figures out?" He asked. "He won't. This is ours, and no one can break us apart" Patton reassured him.

"Hey Rolo?"

"Yeah?

"I love you."

"I love you too."

Patton's POV

We walked away from the bench, letting our hands fall from the others. We walk back into the castle, and go our separate ways. "Hey, V!" I hear Roman call. I dash to Logan's room as I realize I'm not even supposed to be here. Once I get there, I close the door. Logan sits on the bed, reading his favorite book. "Salutations, Patton." He greets. "Heya, kiddo!" I respond. Logan groans at the nickname as I laugh.

We spend the next hour talking to each other before I go back home, with no one on my mind but the prince who swept me off my feet.

Virgil's POV

I smile at Roman, who seemed to have a certain pep in his step. He wouldn't tell me what, but he was blushing like crazy, and couldn't stop smiling. We had talked for a bit, and for the first time in a while, I saw true happiness in his eyes. When he laughed, he didn't hold back. He snorted like crazy and never covered his mouth or regretted saying a thing.

"Goodnight, Ro." I call.

"Goodnight, Panic! At the everywhere." He calls back.

I chuck a pillow at him and he laughs.

After we turn off the lights I listen in, but all I can hear is faint snoring.

I fall asleep with happiness and peace. No Valerie, no Kingdom, no Logan.

No nothing.

Just me, and the best brother I could ask for.

(I wrote fluff so I could give you a little relief from the last chapter. You're welcome ;))
